Melissa’s mom,

It’s all subjective of course, although I and a few other yelpers think that Eduardos is better. When I last ate at Monterrey, none of the food had any flavor.

Eduardos could use a little more heat, but I don’t think the Tucker clientele goes for that. To each his own, but to me the food at Eduardos has seemed a bit hotter/fresher tastier.

Why do alot of these comments sound exactly like an advertisement for the restaurant they are recommending? Because that’s exactly what it is… The owners/managers are out here unethically trying to pimp their business…

El Azteca! And enjoying a plate and a pitcher of margaritas from their patio on Ponce is the best way to do it!
Tin Lizzy’s also gets the “thumbs-up.” I love their newer location across from Oakland Cemetery!

No doubt La Parrilla is good food. Funny story about them. We used to go to the one in Woodstock. One day, the manager disappeared. What happened to him? Nobody said. Then one night we saw him working at Pappasito’s. I asked him what he was doing there. He was surprised to see me and said, “Uh, I want to open my own place one day.” Later on, he’s the manager at La Parrilla again. What the? He finally confided, “I was spying. The owner of the chain is infatuated with Pappasito’s, so I got a job there to see how they do things.”

A vote Los Hermanos. The tacos are great if you are going cheap, and the specials are always fantastic too if you want to spend a little more (and you are hungry!). Great salsa and guac. And best shrimp corn chowder I’ve ever had!

Taqueria Los Hermanos (we go to the one in Tucker on Hugh Howell). Fresh, tasty, and creative dishes. They are particularly good with interesting seafood dishes. Best kept secret in Atlanta. I used to live in-town and like this better than all of the other mentioned in-town places.

Holy Taco in East Atlanta located at 1314 Glenwood Avenue in the East Atlanta Village is awesome! Great service and even better food has made this my favorite mexican restaurant in ATL. This food is so good that is doesn’t have to be smeared with greasy cheesy stuff like Nueva Laredo or Jalisco – ya’ll need to go eat it for yourself.

I also don’t get the whole Nuevo Laredo thing. I have been there on multiple occasions and been disappointed each time. I have NO problem waiting 20-30 minutes to sit for excellent food, but not for what they are serving. For my money Taqueria Los Hermanos is the best Mexican food in Atlanta. Great ala carte tacos, great fish specials, sadly the one in tucker has no booze, only beer and wine, unsure of the others.

El Torero – I drive from Marietta to get my fix, and I plan my Saturday errands around it – the salsa is zingy, the portions are generous, and they use good stuff – actual chicken breast meat in the tacos, not that shred stuff that other places do. Mmmm… now I’m hungry! :(

Nuevo Laredo Cantina hands down!

Patrick

Nuevo Laredo is HUGELY overated! It reminds me of eating at Chi-chi’s when I was a kid. Nobody ever has a reasonable reason as to why they keep going back there, they just say: “It’s always busy so it must be good”. Please don’t defend it by telling me that their margaritas or sangria is good. I challenge you to find restaurant like Neuvo Laredo that serves “bad maragaritas and sangria”.

Bone Garden Cantina on the so called edgy west side blows Nuevo Laredo out of the water. Mi Barrio in Grant Park has great food as well.

Branch out people, try someplace other than Neuvo Laredo and see what you’re missing.

Mexico City Gourmetis the best. Located at Clairmint Rd and 2134 N. Decatur Rd., Decatur GA 30033. Has been in business probably 20 years are more. Always the best, their specials for the day and their variety of maragarita; especially the Chocolate maragarita. You can not go wrong here with anything on the menu as well.

I am a bit confused I thought this survey was to find the best AUTHENTIC mexican food here in ATL. I see alot of recommendations naming Mexican restaurants that have adapted to our taste here in the United States but are not considered AUTHENTIC by an standards in Mexico.

Ditto to everything in Julia’s post from 01/19, LA PARRILLA MEXICAN RESTAURANT is the best, we go to the one in Woodstock probably once a week. The service and food are always great!
