The best is Bone Garden Cantina on the Westside. It is located near Nuevo Laredo but lacks the See/Be Seen crowd that makes Nuevo Laredo such a large investment in time. The food, drinks, and staff are all superb.

La Parilla in Alpharetta gets my vote for the best “chain” type Mexican food. Fresh, good, clean.
Close second is Los Rios in Cumming
If you want something that’s a bit of a modern “twist” on Mexican, but in a good way, Cinco in Vickery Village on Post Road in Forsyth County is great!

Nuevo Laredo is great Tex Mex, but it is by no means authentic Mexican Food. Taco Veloz is a very authentic Taqueria and quite good–especially for the price. El Rocio in East Point and Mi Barrio in Cabbagetown are pretty authentic full service Mexican restaurants and are both quite good. Adventurous California style fare can be enjoyed at Holy Taco (East Atlanta), Raging Burrito (Decatur) and Taqueria Del Sol which has several locations…and was fairly recently voted by Bon Appetit Magazine as the 2nd best Taqueria in the country.

Chonas Mexican Grill located in a strip mall adjacent to Discover Mills has some surprisingly great food. I crave their Alambre with big chunks of juicy beef and crispy fried bacon – after all isn’t everything better with bacon. I also love the Pollo Espinaca. Huge tender chicken breasts topped with cheese, sauteed spinach and mushrooms. Yumlicious! They also offer a very good Carnitas plate with marinated slow roasted pork. The Texas Margaritas are superbly potent. You can also join their e-mail group and they will send you monthly coupons as well a certificate for a free birthday dinner. Sweet!
