You say, “Our family has a tradition of eating at Chepe’s on Friday nights. We love the food, the service and the atmosphere. Everything we have eaten has been awesome and the staff is so very friendly and efficient. Sometimes there is a wait, but it’s well worth it, I promise.”

Dining critic Meridith Ford Goldman says, “No place serves the mystery that is masa as well as this real-deal joint in Jonesboro. This is soul food, Mexican-style, and specializing in the wonders of Oaxaca.” See her complete round-up for more on each of these Mexican marvels.

For AUTHENTIC Mexican I got to Mi Barrio in Grant Park across from the Oakland Cemetary.
What makes it authentic? A) It’s family owned Martha Lopez and Family really know how to work together as a family and team. Mom and grandma cook while the daughters tend to their guests.
B)You can enjoy your meal while watching your favorite Telenovela on Univision.
C) the food is FRESH and SO SO good. The salsa has the right kind of kick to it and the beers are CHEAP!
I think I’ll have to go tonight…

La Fonda Latina on Roswell Rd.’s salmon burrito is the best! The margaritas aren’t bad either. No Mas and Pappasitos are also top notch!

Pappasito’s Cantina on Windy Hill @ I-75. It’s a chain based out of Texas with locations all over that state. This one….in Marietta is the only location outside of Texas. It’s great! Each month when I go to Florida I have to take a gallon of salsa and 3 lbs of chips for my family. They love Pappasito’s Cantina also.

Hands down Nuevo Laredo. We’ve been to Mexico & eaten at roadside restaurants in places that rarely see tourists. The food a Nuevo Laredo definitely fits the authenticity bill.

I adore Holy Taco in East Atlanta Village. Absolutely delicious food, awesome organic margaritas and a hell of a talented chef. Nuevo Laredo is awesome for quick authentic Mexican. However, I do get that craving for El Taco Veloz and their salsa bar and simple, fat filled bean and cheese burritos!! Yum.

Taqueria Los Hermanos hands down! They offer a number of seafood dishes with the shrimp quesadilla being one of my favorites. You won’t regret it. Add a Texas margarita, and you are really in for a good meal!

I’ll admit, the lobster tacos at Nuevo Laredo are great. But it’s not worth WAITING AN HOUR to get a table. (After this article, with all this hype they’re getting, the wait will be even longer.) And the fish tacos and shrimp corn chowder at Taqueria del Sol are good, if you don’t mind standing in a long line out the door like sheep, then giving your order to a snarly, ungrateful hipster-nazi. For a huge heap of good food served quickly with great service and no pretensions, I’d rather go to El Torero or La Parilla.

Jalisco’s in Peachtree Battle has the best Mexican Food ever. My family and I have been going here for the last 15-20 years and it is awesome ! My daughter just turned 15 and this is where she wanted to go for her birthday dinner. And it is owed by the same family all of this time and they are just as great

Don’t believe the hype, Nuvevo Laredo is expensive, crowded, and greasy. Aside from Frontera on HWY 78 (both locations in Snellville/Stone Mountain), La Parilla is the best Mexican-type food in the metro area.
