the place in Jonesboro is all around the best. They make numerous things and all are well above average to excellent. There are numerous taqueria type places that are also very good: el rey del taco, san pancho (in Tucker), mega taco, probably some others too.

Tomorrow is Thursday. That means time for the bi-weekly ‘who has the best Chinese food in Atlanta?’ blog.

Being from Texas, I’ve had a hard time finding authentic Mexican food here. Unfortunately, it’s doctored for the masses with the ever-present red sauce and cheese – not always typical of homecooked Mexican. For great Tex-Mex, I go to Pappasito’s and Uncle Julios – both Dallas/Fort Worth traditions. If you are ever in south GA, just off 75 in Cordele is a great place called El Girasol (the sunflower). Es auténtico y muy delicioso – salud!

Taqueria El Compadre on Buford Drive just east of Satellite Blvd, in Buford. Their food is awesome, authentic, and reasonably priced. The soft beef tacos are to die for! Delicious sauces and salsas. Highly recommend – and I’ve been eating Mexican for 60 years! Trust me on this recommendation.

Looks like all the hippies have once again voted for Nuevo Laredo, it’s not bad but not worth the wait in the cramped bar. Mi Casa in Woodstock is just as good without all the downsides. Maybe if yall would venture outside the perimeter once in a while you would see how much better life could be.

In Covington, at I-20 Exit 90 you’ll find “Pacho’s” . . . not a chain, come on in and meet Pacho. FAB food and very generous Margaritas. Their steak fajitas make my knees weak . . . the fresh-made-daily roasted tomato salsa is the very best ever.

Donas Julias Taqueria, REAL mexican food. Hand made tortillas and fresh food. This is an authentic hole in a wall type of mom & pop restaurant… The taqueria is located in marietta.
