You say, “Our family has a tradition of eating at Chepe’s on Friday nights. We love the food, the service and the atmosphere. Everything we have eaten has been awesome and the staff is so very friendly and efficient. Sometimes there is a wait, but it’s well worth it, I promise.”

Dining critic Meridith Ford Goldman says, “No place serves the mystery that is masa as well as this real-deal joint in Jonesboro. This is soul food, Mexican-style, and specializing in the wonders of Oaxaca.” See her complete round-up for more on each of these Mexican marvels.

The Bone Garden Cantina is awesome, around the corner from Neuvo Laredo and you won’t wait three days for a table!
Tierra is a little more Latin than Mexican, but their food is some of the best anywhere in the city.

All Star Mexican Grill (Duluth), Taqueria los Hermanos (Lawrenceville, etc) and Taqueria del Sol (Decatur, etc) are the best that I have found in and around ATL. I am looking forward to trying the other ones listed. They all have fresh ingredients and very nice staff.

I don’t care that it’s a chain in the burbs, La Parilla is my hands down fave. Jalisco was unmemorable for me and I never got all the hype about Neuvo Laredo.

Cinco has restaurants in Alpharetta, Duluth, and Vickery (near Polo Fields & Cumming). They are upscale, very nicely decorated, and have an innovative menu. They don’t get their food off of the same truck as the rest of the Mexican restaurants. They have soft taco choices with grilled steak, fried chicken, or fried fish, all wonderful. They have a number of other interesting dishes, a good grilled salmon dish, and good drinks. Live entertainment on weekends. Entrees range from $10 to $15.

Nuevo Laredo is mediocre at best…I pass by it every day and for the life of me cannot understand the line. It seems that it is mostly a hang-out for people who think it is cool to go there because it’s on the ‘edgy’ west side…I live on the west side and trust me, it’s not ‘edgy’, just a dump.
For Tex-Mex I think a better choice is Jalisco in Peachtree Battle or Cazadores on Johnson Ferry.
For somewhat more authentic fare Bone Garden Cantina is excellent…plus it’s on the ‘edgy’ west side without the line of poseurs standing out front.

Did someone really put ‘Pure’ down here?
It’s sad that no one seems to realize that the Mexicans are using their restaurants in a plot to take over our nation. They are slowly infiltrating our society and culture and soon enough we will no longer be the ‘US of A’ but North Mexico. Get ready folks. Instead of George Washington and Abe Lincoln, our kids will be learning about Pablo and Jorge. And forget about Mastercard and Visa as a method of payment, if you want something you’ll need to be toting your pesos. And don’t think they’ll stop with us either, they will one day dominate the world. They understand that food is the way to a man’s soul and they are out to steal all of our souls. Wake up folks, we’ve got to do something!!!!!!!
