I know it’s closed right now but Canoe had the best coffee in Atlanta. The best coffee shop is Inman Perk because they have good coffee and nobody bothers you while you’re on your computer or reading.

@MMM_coffee: I agree 110%…..

Aurora is very very good. I hear the roaster is from Seattle. Stumptown is simply amazing coffee…the best I’ve had to date. Love it to death. Very very good and Aurora is simply the closest to it but I must say…. Octane is pretty good too…. with the french press style reminiscent of Stumptown.

Hands down the best coffee in town is at Johnson Ferry Shell at 2898 Johnson Ferry Road. While having coffee there you can join the “Mens Club” and share your opinion about nearly everything.

Octane has done more to raise the bar for espresso and specialty coffee than almost any other shop in the southeast. Octane baristas have dominated the southeast regional barista championships and done more to represent the south at the national level than anyone else I can think of. All the barista awards would mean nothing if they didn’t care about the coffee, though. Luckily, they have a very close working relationship with Counter Culture and do a spectacular job of highlighting the work of a select group of the world’s most respected coffee growers.

Doesn’t anyone get past the Decatur area? Come to Lawrenceville and drop in on The Singin’ Bean on the square. While there try some of the best chicken salad you’ll find anywhere including your Mama’s kitchen.

I love my coffee. Fresh brewed is the best, but I have to say that the new Instant Coffe from Starbucks is pretty darn good. I’ve had it 4 times now and I normally hate anything instant, but it is worth it.

The Dancing Goats! I would have to agree that Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters tops the list and that their Dancing Goat blend is amazing as espresso or drip. Though i prefer their single origin coffees.

I’m not a coffee connoisseur but my favorite coffee is at any Quick Trip. Always fresh and their capuccinos are the best.

Were talking coffee here, right? Not lattes, espresso. Coffee; black, no flavors, no sweeteners, no cream, no coffee-mate.

Coffee:
1. Chik-fil-a Dark Roast
2. Starbucks Sumatra
3. Caribou Mahogany

Go to Marietta. Stop just off the square, turn west: there’s a great little coffee house: roast their own beans. Coffee is fab. Dark chocolate mocha cappucino, not too shabby either! Cool Beans, that’s the name. Terrific coffee, terrific location.

I’m surprised more people haven’t suggested Atlanta Coffee Roasters in the Toco Hills plaza (I only saw one mention on the first page of posts).

They’re apparently the best kept secret in town – they roast beans on site, and they have a HUGE variety of coffee beans to choose from, including flavored and decaf beans. And for those espresso drinkers, you name it (capp, latte, etc.), they serve it along with a decent selection of chai and other non-coffee drinks.

The owner buys directly from small, independently owned farms and works hard to get the word out to other independent coffee roasters when he finds farmers that need business. Few people realize it, but Starbucks is the ultimate corporate evil, buying up the coffee farms from the farmers (for pitifully little cash), which leaves the farmers without a livelihood once the cash runs out and forces out independnet coffee roasters because they have very limited farms from which to buy their beans. Starbucks can claim to sell “fair trade” coffee all they want, but they’re full of it.

My husband and I LOVE ACR (obviously!) and we won’t buy our beans anywhere else.

Octane. I’ve been a fan since they first opened. They have evolved perfectly, I just wish the space was a little bigger.

I’ve never seen a coffee shop in the south care so much about quality coffee. Tony (the owner) and his fleet of baristas are simply ahead of the pack in driving a culture of community around their product.

Also, Java Vino and Java Monkey. But those are on rare days.

My vote goes to Land of 1000 Hills in Roswell. The smell of them roasting their beans hits you as you drive into the parking lot. I’ve been going there since they opened a couple of years ago and never had a bad cup. They do a lot to support fair trade in Rwanda and also support a number of local initiatives as well. For those of us on the Northside, you really won’t find anything better.

I live in Cartersville, north on the 75. ‘The Coffee Bar’ is the best I have found. Counter Culture roasts and supplies the beans. All profits go to better the surrounding community and needy. They have every selection including cool itailian sodas too. Great to know some businesses think of others. Makes the coffee even taste better knowing where the coffee is from.

If you brew at home, then Green Mountain Coffee from Vermont is the best. I think it’s available at Kroger but I order mine from the website. You can get K-Cups too. It’s better than Dunkins!
