OUR PICKS
1) C & S Seafood and Oyster Bar
Dining critic Meridith Ford Goldman says, “For a landlocked city like Atlanta, a classic fish house is a refreshing change from the usual steak-and-sushi gig, and C & S proves its mettle when it comes to making simple preparations — broiled or chargrilled fish, elegant but simply prepared with sides of roasted fingerling potatoes and haricot verts — into big, bold plates of beauty.”

Marietta Fish Market….hands down, none better. Fresh Seafood, Chef Specials, Great Service, Great Atmosphere. The fresh baked bread with cream cheese is awesome. No matter what you order you can’t go wrong.

I still miss Shells (in Sandy Springs). Some raw oysters, a big plate of cold boiled shrimp, an ice-cold beer and playing Bimini Hook…just fabulous.

Definitely not Six Feet Under. I agree with the above person that said the food and service had slipped. Last time I was there the staff was more interested in chatting up each other than helping anyone.
Alfredo’s does have an excellent sea bass.

I bring my son-in-law down from the Cape for the winter to do mine. He owns Baxters in Hyannis and after 4 generations they know how to do it right! I have been trying to get him to open one in ATL but thus far no go……

To me Legal Seafood is one step above Red Lobster. Of the chain restaurants McCormick & Schmidts is much better. For stand alone business where you would take the family, the Atlanta Fish Market is the best. For the great evening out Kyma’s is the place to go. If I had to only pick one, it would be the Atlanta Fish Market. And, [name deleted], if the food sucks in Atlanta, why don’t you leave. You are taking up the space and air of someone who wants to be here.

For the best cajun seafood, there’s a little restaurant in a strip mall/ gas station near Gwinnett Place Mall. The owners have a shrimp boat in Louisiana and that’s where I go when crawfish is in season. Awesome, and it’s the closest I’ll get to Louisiana cooking if I can’t have my mom’s. Other than that, ATL is lacking in seafood.

Take my word for it – Marietta Fish Market is HORRENDOUS. Some of the worst seafood I’ve ever eaten. Go at your own peril.
My favorites – Atlanta Fish Market, Kyma, Hashiguchi, MF and MF Buckhead, Ray’s on the River, New Paradise, Canoe (please reopen soon!), Bacchanalia, Aria, others that don’t immediately come to my sleepy mind

I’ve been living in Metro ATL since 2002 (from Gwinnett, now in Douglas County) and been to many seafood restaurants. I must say that Gumbeaux in Douglasville and Atlantic Fish Market in Alpharetta are the best in the area….my opinion

No where here in Georgia! I am from Louisiana and I have not found any place here in Georgia that even comes close to the way we cook our seafood. We just stay home and cook it outdoors on our burner!
boil crabs, corn, turkey necks, fried fish, shrimp and a cold budweiser to wash it down!

The Last Catch in Jasper, GA Amazing Oysters Rockefeller. The fish is awesome and the best gulf coast shrimp I’ve ever had. The owners Kim and Jim are Charelston natives and have truely brought the coast to the mountains. Definately worth a roadtrip! They have a website http://www.lastcatchseafood.com.

I’ve been in Atlanta for 15 years and I don’t find very many places to eat great food. I’m actually disappointed because I thought there would be good food all over Atlanta, for some reason. I love seafood and I guess I’d have to say the Fish Market in Buckhead is the best! I haven’t been there in years though, but when I use to go, it was awesome! I do like Spondivitis

Becky, Thanks for the SHELLS reminder in Sandy Springs. Great Food!!
Most of you folks are laughable. You go sit down somewhere with white tablecloths and pay $25 for a piece of fish?!? HA HA!!

For fried seafood, I have to agree with Hungery on the Oyster Cafe…but I liked it better before the old hole-in-the-wall location burned down. It was called Oyster King back then and the food seemed just a little tastier and the beer a little colder. I’m also a big fan of the Kennebunkport chowder at Spondivits on Virginia Ave near the airport.

How could ANYONE say Spondivits? That place is the nastiest restaurant I have ever been in, not to mention they killed that lady with their oysters. And then the health dept. came in an gave them a score so low they had to shut down in the middle of service!! So nasty!
