Dining critic Meridith Ford Goldman says, “Take me to Paris, and what do I want? Well, besides shoes? A ham, butter and cheese sandwich on a baquette, bought from a street vender. I can get a similance of this Francophile sammie at Star Provisions, with Parm and prosciutto and butter on one of the provender’s Parisian-style baquettes.”

The Flying Biscuit Cafe. The Fried Green Tomato BLT Sandwich ROCKS! But really — all the sandwiches from there are the best.

Baldino’s on Buford Hwy is the BEST! Try the Italian Battalion!
Jersey Mike’s chain and Publix are good, too. I really like Publix’s Deluxe sub.
Does anyone have an awesome BLT recommendation???

Las Palmeras has a great Cuban and actually La Fonda’s Cubans are quite good too. For a larger selection of sandwiches, I think Wright’s or Vortex. Haven’t tried it but heard Twain’s in Decatur has the best corned beef sandwiches.

Publix is hit and miss. It also depends on the person who is waiting on you. They are also expensive for what you might get. you just never know.

I’m not from New York. I am from a place with sandwich shops on every other corner. I know my sandwiches and ATLs little gourmet shops with their 8-10 dollar sandwiches with stupid catchy names just doesnt cut it in my book.
All I want is to walk into sandwich place that has a bunch of Italian guys behind the counter. The first thing out of their mouths should be do you want a hard roll or soft roll?
Then I know I’m at real sandwich shop.
I will try Baldinis.

KK…thanks, I thought I was alone out here. Subs are not sammies. Hey AJC lets have a sub vote soon! Learning alot about different sandwich shops, good info today, but let us stick to the catagory of sandwiches. At least someone didn’t bring up a place in Savannah or Valdosta for best in the Bid A. Remember true subs are eaten cold not toasted. I know the lines get blured sometimes.

Shane’s Rib Shack? KC’s Pit BBQ on Roswell is better than that.
And I have to say, I’ve had Publix sandwiches and they are good but Kroger’s sandwiches on that Sweet Italian Bread? AWESOME.
I’ll have to try Baldinos.

Which Wich is a joke. I just had a banh mi from Lee’s and it was great. But one of the best places I’ve been for sandwiches is a little spot in Hapeville (just stay with me here) called Cafe at the Corner. The owner is French-trained and puts her foot into everything there. The chicken salad (on croissant) will make you want to slap somebody. She’s only open for lunch and the place stays packed.

I would have to go with Cha Cha Bongo’s cuban sandwiches! Hot pressed and loaded with meat. Soooo good especially with some avocado tomatillo sauce and hot sauce! mmm. Also, you can never go wrong with Mellow Mushroom’s hoagies & for a basic sandwich, Publix has awesome subs!
