Mad Italian. Any sandwich filling on their wonderful bread although my preference is their Philly Cheese steak.

Have to agree about Kool Korner Cuban. Ate then 40 years ago and had totally forgotten about K.K. Wonderful Cuban and I can still recall the lunch hour rush to buy before they sold out. RIP indeed!!

Mi Barrio’s tortas. The bread is perfect. Las Palmeras has a good cuban and super tasy sloppy cuban (bocadillo). Still miss the cubans at the long-gone Nayarit (now Solstice).

You idiots who say that Publix makes the best sandwich are showing your ignorance. This is “Best Sandwich”, not “tolerable if you are in a hurry” Try Alon’s or Star Provisions and then compare to Publix. If I asked who makes the best burger, would you answer McDonalds?
Also Cafe at Pharr is terrible, terrible, terrible

Good to see that Edgewood Adam is still lurking around, waiting to pounce with his snobby intown attitude whenever he can. He gives the rest of us intowners a bad name.

My vote goes to Havana Sandwich Shop’s Cuban, RIP.

Also, Publix does make excellent subs, if you get it with the Boar’s Head meat, no matter what the ignorant little elitists roaming around here think they know.

Swallow at the Hollow makes great sandwiches, too, but they are not subs.

Vortex is great. Woody’s is good, but too expensive for what you get.

Oh yes, and there is always at least one New Yorker who checks in to tell us that “Atlanta doesn’t have any good… (insert item here; pizza, subs, whatever). What we do have is lots of New Yorkers who have moved here and opened up restaurants, so Woody, come out of your hole and actually take a look around. You’ll find that New York is not the only city on Earth after all!

Star Provisions is definitely tops. Other great choices…
- Savor
- E 48th Street Market in Dunwoody
- Bahn Mi from Quoc Hong, Viet Tofu or Lee’s (in that order) on BuHi
- Sawicki’s

And I will agree, though they are far from the best, a Boars Head sub from Publix will do in a pinch. They can be great or awful depending on the bread that day and the freshness of the toppings.

I thought the topic was best sandwich? How did subs get in there?
Manuel’s chicken salad sandwich gets my vote.
Maybe we should have a sub catagory to vote on. Sandwiches are on bread and either hot or cold. Subs are on rolls and served only cold.
