I can get a similance of this Francophile sammie at Star Provisions, with Parm and prosciutto and butter on one of the provender’s Parisian-style baquettes.”

Anyone knocking Publix is a egotistical yuppie moron. You don’t have to pay a fortune or eat at some special store to get a good sub.

The Boars Head meat selection is far and above the pathetic meat selection you get served at most one-off restaurants and sub shops. It is rivaled only by true butcher shops. I have still not found a better roast beed in the entirety of Atlanta, and thats encompassing eating at about 40 different restaurants for subs, many that are on this list.

The drawback to Publix is that the bread is usually over-cooked. It’s a sad thing to waste high quality meat on two concrete slabs of bread. Publix needs to learn that bread for subs is not a french roll. Fortunately, you can choose a different type of bread at some of the better Publix restaurants.

Sicne bread and meat are what comprise at least 80% of my score, and sicne Boars Head is the best you can get for the money, to me Publix is a clear winner. Don’t be a snob and give them a try, but be wary of the typical bread they use.

Jasons deli-sandwich, Publix, Baldinos-subs, pizza-Grand Central on glenwood rd Atl, Cheese steak-Weymans-downtown stone mountain. On the same note, why is it deli meat isnt as good as it is in new York and other northern states? Have you ever noticed that and if your from the south you shouldnt even responded to this because you grow up with crappy sandwiches and think this crap is good without knowing what we northeners really know about good food. Stick to your soul food and ribs.

Wright’s Gourmet in Dunwoody has the best sandwich – still. And it is local and unique, not something from a chain!

Jersey Mikes for a sub done right. However, the ones actually located in NJ still beat out the ones here.

Rising Roll also makes a great sandwich and wrap!

I agree with some of the comments about Publix – if the bread’s good and fresh and the person knows what they’re doing then they’re great! Sometimes, though, the bread is stale and the person making it acts like they don’t know what a sandwich is.

Lenny’s has some of the best bead and makes great subs. I also like Firehouse and often switch between the 2. Jason’s Deli makes a great sandwich as well. I also like Publix, and Larry’s is very good and probably has the most variety of any sub shop I’ve seen.

Can’t believe Eatzi’s is gone! Loved that food while I was at Tech, cheap and filling!

While I also did not read all of the posts I found no mention of “Nicks Grecian Gyro” on Virginia Ave
near the airport. I personally think Nick’s Gyro is the best sandwich on the planet. Rotisserie grilled
seasoned lamb on a grilled pita with onion, tomato and Nick’s special sauce. I order the lamb crispy
and the sauce is incredible. The combination of flavors and texture will produce cravings worthy of
a long drive to satisfy!
