Dining critic Meridith Ford Goldman says, “Take me to Paris, and what do I want? Well, besides shoes? A ham, butter and cheese sandwich on a baquette, bought from a street vender. I can get a similance of this Francophile sammie at Star Provisions, with Parm and prosciutto and butter on one of the provender’s Parisian-style baquettes.”

Miss Eatzi’s Bone Bread sandwiches but one of them made me sick as a dog about 3 or 4 months before they closed their doors – don’t sleep on Publix’ subs – they do a super job – best kept sandwich secret in town and you dont have to opt for Boar’s Head – their chicken salad sub is sublime – forget about getting a decent pastrami on rye in Atlanta – aint gonna happen – absolute best subs in town, though, are at Baldino’s

Yes, we all miss Eatzi’s but for my money, give me the turkey reuben at Jason’s Deli. It is hard to beat most of their sandwiches period.

The chicken burger at JOEL BRASSERIE is amazing! Just had it for the first time a couple weeks ago…very yum. And this is coming from a VERY picky eater – I’m typically a fan of a regular, good ol’ cheeseburger!

Larry’s Giant Subs are the best! I’m so glad they’re starting to pop-up in Atlanta. Also, the New Yorker Deli on South Atlanta road is the jam!

True, Woody’s is another. Man, I’m getting hungry and I’ve already eaten lunch. We need to make subcategories for sandwiches. Po’ boys, Philly’s, Chicken Salad, Club, Italian, etc.

Love The New Yorker Deli, Gruby’s in the Perimeter area (also in Hilton Head, SC), and Sun in My Belly near Edgewood. Among the chains, Firehouse and Jersey Mike’s are great. Wish we had a place that serves BIG deli sandwiches like in NY and Chitown…

Grand Prize: Papi’s Cuban Sandwich
Runner Up: Leon’s Open Faced Brisket
Honorable Mention: None Love the food here but it isn’t a good sandwich town. I could bring one Italian Beef sandwich from Mr. Beef in Chicago and all sandwich shops here would be forced to close and pay hommage for a week.

Las Palmeras on 5th & Durant has a great Cuban sandwich.
A also agree that Star Provisions and Alon’s make great sandwiches.
The only problem I have with Publix subs is their inconsistence. At times they are sublime at others inedible. This is usually due to the freshness of their veggies.
