Dining critic Meridith Ford Goldman says, “Take me to Paris, and what do I want? Well, besides shoes? A ham, butter and cheese sandwich on a baquette, bought from a street vender. I can get a similance of this Francophile sammie at Star Provisions, with Parm and prosciutto and butter on one of the provender’s Parisian-style baquettes.”

” I could bring one Italian Beef sandwich from Mr. Beef in Chicago and all sandwich shops here would be forced to close and pay hommage for a week.”

Maybe so, but we have the best American “olympic” sandwiches!

Obviously the best deli is Reuben’s Deli on Broad Street in the heart of Atlanta. Located at 57 Broad Street they offer a vast array of deli favorites, using both Boar’s Head and Thumann’s Meats. Reuben’s Deli was awarded Best Deli in Atlanta in 2007 and continues to be the beacon of sandwich making in the SE. (57 Broad St NW Atlanta, GA 30303) Publix and Blimpie’s WOW, no comparison to Reuben’s NY style feel and delicious sandwiches and combination of soups, salads, pasta sides, and desserts.

Is there a Just Loafin’ still around? The one of Boulevard closed, but I second the shrimp po boy there -it’s AWESOME -and better than any I’ve ever had including in and around New Orleans. Atkins Park has a mean reuben, and I love La Fonda’s Cuban Reuben -others copy it, but La Fonda’s is the best. I agree that some Publix subs are absolutely amazing and others taste like cardboard. Solstice Cafe in Grant Park does have yummy sandwiches, and outside of my mother’s homemade -Watershed’s pimiento cheese sandwich ROCKS!

Publix Philly puts that Philly Connection joint to a laughing shame! The store in Norcross between PID and 141 is the best I have had, and the other stores are always good. I also really enjoy Firehouse Subs meatball subs too.

I can’t wait to try some of the other suggestions here. Thanks!

Wrights in Dunwoody. Blue Max is great. Best Roast beef nice and rare, tomato, cucumber, red onion and chunky blue cheese on an onion bun — TO DIE FOR! The cucumbers take it to another level. Very good!
