I agree that the Cuban at Little Havana was the best – until the fire. The honor should now go to the Turkey Rachel at New Yorker Deli on Pharr Rd.

Mariam Jenkin let me know when you find a please? I usually has to make my own. I come from up north and I didn’t know lettuce, tomatoe and mayo came on the sandwhich until I move to the metro area. Oy!

My top pick based on food alone? Alon’s.The Tuscany is a particular favorite of mine, although the lamb is probably their most famous sandwich.

My top pick overall? Rising Roll is excellent. Every sandwich I’ve tried there has been good. At the Mansell location, the staff is always friendly and the place is absolutely immaculate. They got started right here in Atlanta, so I’d consider them local.

Wildflour on Windward is delicious (the shrimp salad sandwich is particularly good), but their hours can be sketchy — they run out of things at times and close early, so plan accordingly if you intend to visit.

Muss & Turner’s tries hard, but can be hit or miss. However, their Sloppy Joe is a huge hit. One of the best I’ve ever eaten.

I haven’t had a good deli sandwich here yet. This is definitely not a real sandwich city…I’m looking for a Katz style pastrami on rye with or without coleslaw (yum, I miss that!) Or a cornbeef on rye..both with mustard (NEVER may)and packed with meat & I kosher pickle on the side (& no I’m not jewish before y’all start)…any suggestions?

Publix, KFC, Subway??? This is why local businesses, especially restaurants, close by the minute in Atlanta. And our dining scene is the worse for it.

Go out and support your community! Eat local!

Easily Muss & Turner’s in Smyrna! The Gobbler is my favorite (turkey, stuffing, lingonberry, aioli on challah) but it’s hard to resist the Insult to Philly or a Swifty’s Dream every now and then or any special that comes off of the smoker that day. And the fries are a must-have accompaniment.

Well, if you want a sandwich that is FLAVORFUL, FULL OF MEAT AND VEGGIES, try the best place on the SOUTH SIDE OF TOWN. Actually, I have been eating here for the last 12 years. I have been advertising for the owner for years as well. They also have other gourmet dishes (lamb over rice) and HUGE, HUGE SALADS, PACKED WITH MEAT, CHEESES AND VEGGIES OF ALL KINDS. IF YOU WANT TO FILL YOUR BELLY WITH GOOD STUFF TO EAT, HEALTHY STUFF, TRY MR. EVERYTHING DELI. It’s located on MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DRIVE., where Sellers Brothers Funeral home was and diagonally across from Publix. THIS IS THE CORNERSTONE FOR CLARK ATLANTA UNIV., MOREHOUSE COLLEGE and the entire SOUTHSIDE of town. “MR. EVERYTHING KNOWS EVERYBODY AND EVERYBODY KNOWS MR. EVERYTHING”. Kimberley Harper (Teacher)

Havana Sandwich Shop on Buford Highway used to have the BEST cuban sandwich in Georgia before it caught fire. I really wish they were reopening the location, but I hear that there’s another one in North Georgia?

Best Sandwich, I have fond memories of a downtown Atlanta sandwich shop named Harold’s. I don’t know if it still there as I have not been in
downtown Atl for many years. But never had another that even held up to his sandwiches. Kosher Salami w’ Pimento Cheese piled high with trimmings. Good ham with large pleasant size slices cheese. Best chicken salad probably in the world.

The comment stream is proof that Atlanta is a bad sandwich market. Publix? Kroger? Subway? Jersey Mike’s? There is absolutely nothing special about anything they have to offer. If my 15 year old can make it, then it doesn’t qualify.

If you have ever been to the Carnegie Deli in Manhattan, you know what a top notch deli sandwich is all about. While there are some *decent* sandwich places in Atlanta, I have never found anything that compares. Publix does a good job and is easily found, but is not a *deli sandwich destination.*

Havana was my fav for cubans. For a quick/cheap office lunch sandwich, I’d say Jimmy Johns BLT is pretty solid. The Euclid Ave Yacht Club makes a mean mean pulled pork sandwich. More mean that you would think.

I haven’t had a good sandwich in Atlanta in years. Goldberg’s deli is good but very expensive. I yearn for the days for The Snac’n Shop Deli sandwich. This deli was what a deli should be, owned by 2 families and the moms made the sandwichs, so there was a lot of love in every meal served. Never ever had a bad meal there, and the rpice was right.

Baldino’s Jersey Subs is the best. Huge portions, daily $3.50 specials (Meatball sub and side or chips…etc.) The Italian Batalian is the best in Atlanta. There are 2 locations. I frequent the location on Buford Highway just north of 285.

Try one! You won’t be dissapointed!
