Dining critic Meridith Ford Goldman says, “Take me to Paris, and what do I want? Well, besides shoes? A ham, butter and cheese sandwich on a baquette, bought from a street vender. I can get a similance of this Francophile sammie at Star Provisions, with Parm and prosciutto and butter on one of the provender’s Parisian-style baquettes.”

I’m very picky about sandwiches and have tried many since moving here to Atlanta five years ago. Hands down the best place is the New Yorker Deli off Atlanta Road in Smyrna. The sandwiches are amazing and come with the best french fries in town!

Wright’s Gourmet in Dunwoody has the best sandwiches… Glenda’s Garden (veggie with everything really fresh), Rebel Reuben, Cuban (grilled) or BLT (best if you specify hot bacon). And they have great desserts to boot… YUM!

Best “SUB” sandwiches are Jersey Mike’s, Publix Subs, and Firehouse
how about something else?
Best CALZONES: Mellow Mushroom (Pepperoni, Beef, Feta Cheese w/Esparanza dressing and red sauce on the side)
Best PIZZA: Mellow Mushroom
Reccomend some other places for Calzones, Sandwiches, and Pizza, I’d love to try something different

Yes, Publix, you snobs. But get Boar’s Head rather than the generic brand of meat. Pastries a Go Go in Decatur has a great Reuben.

I second the New York Deli. But, my favorite has to be the Shrimp Po-Boy at Star Provisions. Rather expensive for a sandwich, but Heaven on a roll.

Obviously this is one of Atlanta biggest shortcomings. There are no sandwich places in this town. There should be so many more for a city this big. For Publix and Jersey Mikes to do so well pretty much says it all. This is definately a niche in the market that a good entrepreneur should target.
Publix rolls are the key to their success…Its called a hard roll. Does anybody down here know what that is? How about a good deli? There arent many.
