You say, “I don’t even *like* Southern food normally and I love their food (even though it is VERY Southern). Pecan cheddar biscuits… fried green tomatoes… those are my favorite items there. It’s a bit of a drive, but it is worth it.”

3) John Boy’s

4) Mirch Masala

Buckners is great! Blue Willow is great! Journey’s End is great! The Redd House in Jefferson is great! Winder, GA has a restaurant called The Magnolia House and it’s great! All southern cooking. If you also want some great southern cooking that isn’t buffet style try “Butch’s” in Jonesboro, GA

Ok, this is not a health forum topic. This is a survey of the best buffets. If you don’t like buffet dining, then don’t go and don’t comment. We don’t need to hear you critizing the people that do. If people want to eat at a buffet, that is their business….not yours!

Here’s something to ponder for the health nuts who don’t like a buffet. When we all go to our reward don’t worms have a buffet?

None of the resturaunts I’ve ate at in Georgia have been any good. If you want a good buffet, that is clean and nice, go to Huntsville, Al. Georgia is full of nasty, greasy people who cook our food, ewwwww!

Let’s play nice, people. There’s no need for name calling — or discussions about health issues. There are plenty of other places to do that. Food is supposed to bring us together. We all have to eat.
And just for clarity’s sake, let’s go with the all-you-can-eat buffets. Many places have steam tables that you can pick from and then pay by the portion or by weight (yeah, yeah, I can hear the jokes already, so no need to post them). I think of those more as cafeteria-style.
And I’ll probably post this in the original entry, but because Monday is a holiday, the winners, voting and new question will all go up next Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend.

The Holiday Inn in Forsyth County one exit past the GA Public Safety Training Center, right off the freeway. It has a great soul food buffet with excellent service and great freshly prepared food.

Phil – Shaddup and eat your tofu! Buckners is the best in the state. From someone who travels the state and knows every meat and 3 and/or buffett in the land, Buckners tops the list. Blue Willow is probably next. Country time in WR, Macon and Dublin is good but simply not in the same ball park. Chineese I have been to several great ones……probably the best is Chef lins in Dalton GA. Indian food however I am not the authority. I don’t even want Chic peas on my salad.

Hey Southern Belle. Most of us do not LIVE in Atlanta and most country folks that can cook good Southern food live in the country. And last I checked, Kennesaw isn’t in Atlanta, or in Fulton County for that matter. Golden Coral? Seems like you need to broaden your horizons a little.

Blue Willow USED to be #1. Far from it now, overpriced and not even close to as good. Save your money folks. Had rehearsal dinner there 7 years ago and it was still fabulous. Downfall started about 4 years ago in my opinion. Last time I went was the last way overpriced and food tasted really old, with poor service which had become a theme for me at this place.

Bulloch House in Warm Springs if they have opened back up is the best around to me. New owners got caught up in some kind of Ponzi scheme several weeks back and haven’t heard any updates. Good prices and very fresh food.

Phil’s Southern Best is phenomenal… it’s like you’re at grandma’s house in the south. The food doesn’t taste “commercialized”… but just like home. I also vote for Buckners… AND the atmosphere of both places make you feel like true neighbors. I’ve eaten all over Atlanta and nothing can top these stops in Stockbridge and Jackson.

John Boy’s on Canton Rd. in Marietta. Small, with a limited spread, but if the clientele is any indicator, the plain Southern cooking is WELL RECEIVED by those standing in line to get a seat.

I can’t believe nobody’s mentioned the Smith House in Dahlonega. No place else even comes close. No standing in a buffet line, they just keep bringing the platters of succulent meats, fresh southern vegetables, home-made bread and pitchers of iced tea as long as you want.

Nori Nori in Sandy Springs is the best sushi and seafoods buffet. It also has beef salad and grill beef, chicken, shrimp,… for $25/adult.

Sydney’s International Buffet is ok but not worth it comparing to Nori Nori. The price is $23.00/adult but worth only $15 or less. I would not go back here again since I found Nori Nori.

From Coastal Georgia, the late (Sema) Wilkes House in Savannah, now run by her children, is tops for a country meal served family style and Darien’s DJ’s has a seafood buffet served wkds that is sensational.
South GA treats such as shrimp and grits and Brunswick stew add a regional twist to the spread. With tax and tip, each one of these can be had for less than $20.
