You say, “I don’t even *like* Southern food normally and I love their food (even though it is VERY Southern). Pecan cheddar biscuits… fried green tomatoes… those are my favorite items there. It’s a bit of a drive, but it is worth it.”

We say “It’s no surprise that one of the Atlanta area’s best Indian restaurants also has one of the best lunch buffets around.”

i think the assignment was “the best buffet,” not that you can feed a football team for 25 dollars. The best means you ignore price. For example, the Boston Sea Party, if you like seafood, despite the fact you have to save all week to afford it.

I always take my bottle of hand sterilizer in with me when eating at a salad bar and use after filling my plate…yes, the handles of the spoons are dirty; just watch folks lick their fingers if they get a drop of food on them! Perhaps establishments will begin to furnish the hand sterilizers on the bars, along with the food!
Best place is still Buckners in Jackson even though the price has gone up. Just a reminder, they do not take credit/debit cards, just cash and checks.

Ummm, OK Cafe DOES have a buffet- in the Take Away section. That’s what it is, a buffet, and it’s really good, so chill people. I think the best buffet bar is at Whole Foods Buckhead location- lots of choices and most of it is pretty healthy. (I know, what’s the point if it’s healthy.)

I just looked back at the top of the page, and sure enough it did say “BEST OF THE BIG A” ! I thougth that meant Atlanta, It did not say, “BEST OF GA”.
Forsyth is too far away from Atlanta to qualify, even though Buckners is good.
Macon and Warner Robins is over 100 miles away.
The Blue Willow of Social Circle put a Blue Willow in Macon a few years ago. It was NOT GOOD. It went right out of business.
The Olde Time Country Buffet? KFC? I cannot believe that these folks don’t go beyond the Roberta city limits.
You folks out to venture out beyond FAST FOOD!

Ummmmmmm didn’t this article say best in the “A”(ATLANTA!) Some of these places you all are listing are all the way in BFE. I still haven’t found a good soul food/southern buffet in the Atlanta Metro area. Gladys Knights has the most consistency with their offerings. Buffet? Hmmmmmm now thats a hard one!

Well!! The restaurant listed the greatest number of times has been BLUE WILLOW in Social Circle, GA. The food is undescribably delicious. I try to eat healthily, and have eliminated bread items from my diet because of the massive amounts of fat in bread, but I may……..or may not try to pecan crusted biscuits that someone wrote about. Sounds delicious. But what I recommend is the sweet potato souffle……it’s sprinkled with CornFlakes and the taste is magnificent. Also, I don’t eat chicken, but the fried chicken DID “call my name”. I didn’t answer the call, but it looked remarkably delicious and I’m told that it is delicious.
As everyone else mentioned, it’s a bit of a drive, but truly well worth it. Try it! I think you’ll like it
Ciao!

OK…………….Savannah is not in the Atlanta metro area, but……….MRS WILKES’ BOARDING HOUSE!!!!!………there is no place like it, not even Blue Willow…………….Gosh!!!! When I think of the place, my mouth waters………………Didn’t think of it initially cuz (again) it’s in Savannah, not Atlanta. But when you go to Savannah, do try MRS. WILKES’……………Superb!!!!

I agree with AJ, the Golden Corral on Austell Rd (my mom’s favorite spot when she’s in town) and Sweet Tomatoes (my daughter’s favorite) on Barrett Pkwy in Marietta. At both places, the food is great and the service is impeccable.

Journey’s End and Mathews in Tucker. Sarge, take your comments to the Editorial page. Mama Bear, we are judging food here, not kids that need to be chained to a table because parents do not teach manners anymore and a waitress that is fed up with those rug rats. The food is good. Alan, never knew anyone that had that surgery and lived a long time, so good luck to you. Time to eat!

Coulda sworn the question was about ‘ATL area’ buffets…not Social Circle, Jackson, Helen, Valdosta, Gainesville, etc. We southerners like to eat…but drive an hour (or more) for a buffet?
And to those who rant about obesity – you weren’t invited.

The classiest all-you-can eat restaurants include the Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle, the Smith House in Dahlonega, and the Dillard House in Dillard. The food is excellent at all three – worth several days of dieting afterwards to make up for the yummy splurge. And best of all, each of them are surrounded with great sights to make a day excursion! For local, watching the budget but not the waistline, it’s the Golden Corral in Alpharetta or Cumming.
