You say, “I don’t even *like* Southern food normally and I love their food (even though it is VERY Southern). Pecan cheddar biscuits… fried green tomatoes… those are my favorite items there. It’s a bit of a drive, but it is worth it.”

2) Café Bombay

3) John Boy’s

4) Mirch Masala

The best and most expensive buffet is Fogo de Chao. All the meat you can eat and they even bring it to your table.

Some people must be slow to comprehend. Last time I checked, the article said, “Which ATLANTA AREA establishment comes to mind when you want no limits on dinner?” Last time I checked, Macon, Warner Robbins and Jackson, Georgia weren’t in the Atlanta area.

I’m from southeast Georgia, but the next time I’m in the Atlanta area, I will definitely try Buckner’s or Blue Willow Inn from all of the other comments I’ve read.

Unlike as stated above, Journey’s End in Loganville is no longer operated by Louis Van Dyke, whose Blue Willow Inn is in Social Circle. It was sold several years ago to Korean management. Its new leader was smart enough not to monkey with a successful menu and service which, along with Blue Willow, serves a wonderful buffet. Journey’s End’s fried chicken is luscious…as are its fresh veggies when available. Price is right also. Look for senior discounts~

Yes, I know what a buffet is, but I’d take Harold’s Barbecue on McDonough Blvd, and their stew and cracklin’ cornbread any day of the week……..try it, you’ll like it.

Easily the best buffet in GA is the Sunday morning brunch at the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead. For all of you who responded that you like golden corral an/or RuSans, please continue going there. Do not let me see you at any worthwhile restaurant in your overalls. It might ruin my meal

Someone mentioned using the same spoons to dip food in these buffets is something to think about, what with all this Swine Flu. I think I’ll refrain from a buffet for a while, or take some antibacterial stuff to clean my hands after each dipping………..

The Green Manor in Union City is Atlanta’s little hidden secret. The freid chicken is the best and always hot. The veggies are too!

Please add Longstreet Cafe in Gainesville to you list of places with true southern food. It is “great” and everything is made from scratch – those buttermilk biscuits are made from White Lily Flour for beginners. They have two locations but the best is on Green Street.

S and S Cafeteria on Cambellton Rd (Stanton Rd exit 166) in Atlanta has wonderful fresh veggies, corn bread, desserts, chicken that does not look like it has been on steroids. They have been in same location for over 38 years, have many long time employees (original chief and assistant chief/original chief came from another S and S and been in their employ for 41 years. You would be surprised at how many people working the line and the take out have been there for more than 10 years. Best egg custard pie anywhere. When you go there: say hey to Kay who has worked the dinning room for years.

Stevi B’s Pizza- where else can I feed my family for less than $25 these days? It’s kid friendly, everyone gets the kind of pizza they want, and I don’t have to clean up.

We live east of Atlanta. Since this is an AJC poll aren’t we talking about metro Atlanta, not just within the city limits? That being said, for southern, it has to be Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle, For Pizza, it has to be Stevie B’s in Covington. For chinese, there is no such thing. For fat people, eat less, for skinny people, screw you!

Funny! We live in Conyers and have a CiCi’s. Only the manager of that place would vote for it! :-) We’ll try Stevie B’s next time we want a good pizza buffet. I’ve actually heard people talk about their potato pizza being great.

2 kids, 2 adults 22.08?? That was my total at Stevi B’s last night. Last week at McDees it was 28!! The best part was, after we ate my wife and I got to have adult conversation while the kids went to play!

Bill thanks for remembering Ma Hulls when I was a student at Emory 35 years ago we would go there for the best family sitting communal food. My best memory was eating there before a Steve Miller concert and who should sit down at the table but Steve and his band

I’ll say for southern food I’d go with Buckner’s for dinner. They always serve the same stuff but man it’s good!

If you are around Stockbridge for lunch I’d have to say Phil’s. You can’t beat it around here. If there are any LEO’s attending training at the Georgia Sheriff’s Association around the corner drop by in uniform and Phil usually will give you a hook up for $5.00. It’s not a big place but it’s well known and frequented by loyal patrons because they know it’s the best around.

There is Thomas Buffet in Covington, GA in the old train depot. It’s $8 all the time for your meal and tea or coffee, and I think the food is terrific, lots of fresh vegetables and great fried chicken too.

Hey, just because a place is a buffet, we don’t have to take it as a personal challenge…

Another vote for John Boy’s on Canton Road in Marietta. It’s really good tasting Southern food and very reasonable. It’s favored by the older folks. Also, where is the Old Country Kitchen someone recommended? Marietta used to have one but it closed. It was good.

I stopped eating at buffet’s when I started paying attention to the fact that NO ONE washes their nasty hands before they handle the serving pieces, grab finger foods, etc….not the customers, the employees or the management. There is too much sickness in the air these days to take a chance on a free for all at the buffet.

So what? A soccer mom who has to clean up after and haul around dirty grubby soccer kids is inherently cleaner than anyone else? Please haul your dirt covered brats into anywhere I may wanna go ..after driving around in your McD’s trash filled mini-van or SUV after they have been touching or playing with God knows what. Yeah,..so much more sanitary. And if the air bothers you, do us all a favor,..just stop breathing and get your guzzling beast off the road. Go wash something, or learn to cook at home for all those foul little brats you love so much.

Alan, I had gastric bypass, have never and will never use a “discount” card just because I can’t eat as much as I used to. I still eat and I know how much it costs before I go to that restaurant. If i don’t want to pay, I make the decison to go somewhere else, not smear a restaurants name because they won’t make an exception for me.

The best Chinese, American, Sushi and Japanese buffet is International Buffet in the Kroger’s Shopping Center in Stockbridge on HWY 138 (right off I-75). Wonderful soups, salads and desserts as well. Very reasonable. They have a large separate room for groups. Lovely young couple owns it and the buffet is enormous.

Blue Jay in Odum. Odum is on Highway 341 between Baxley and Jesup. Mother and daughter team. Fried chicken, fried pork chops, roast beef. and chicken casserole were all great. Every vegetable you can think of, salad bar with homemade seven layer salad and broccoli salad. their home made deserts were sinful. Must try the coconut cake. All this for 8.00.

Not trying to be negative, but I have stopped going to buffets. If you see somebody get what the want, then lick fingers clean, then grab spoon for next dish, I think it will turn anybody off. Also, see a young child at nose high sneeze on the food of grab it with the fingers. I’m not overweight, or anti buffet. Just turned off by the concept.
