Not sure spamming would be the word. An enthusiastic community and parents maybe. I think the excitement is great. After all, it is about kids having a great time. Friendly competition is important, and how we handle that is more important still. Again, it is all for the kids in every band!

i promise you hillgrove is not spamming.
Hillgrove bands is made up of a close community of family, friends, and fans. The fact that the band got so many votes on this post and gets emails from band directors and parents commending the program and the respect and enthusiasim it shows for each and every band that preforms at competitions, just goes to show that hard work, dedication, and love for what you do pays off.
Hillgrove as well as all other bands in cobb county is held in high esteem, and thought it may not be the best (YET) its making its way to the top.
Besides why would you spam a band discussion board i LOVE band and i am in band, it makes up HUUUGE part of my life but really, these are high school kids, they have better things to do, then sit on the computer and type in Hillgrove over and over and over again.

HILLGROVE!!!!
First year: no drumline, no pit
Second year: no snares, 9 pit
Third year: 5 bases, 3 tenors, 4 snares, 10 pit
This year: 5 bases, 5 tenors, 7 snare, 12
If that doesn’t prove something, I don’t know what will.

My vote is for Hillgrove in Powder Springs of course!! But I applaud and scream for all the high school bands that actually let their musicianship and talent be the highlight of their show. Not so interested in tons of “props” or just a lot of dancing. Doing the “worm” on the ground while holding your horn does not make you a musician!

Not sure BEST was the appropriate word for this vote. Everyone thinks their band is the best. This poll is more about spirit, enthusiasm, and popularity. Not BEST…..

I’ve had the pleasure to hear plenty of Georgia HS marching bands. But only one stands out in my mind and that’s the Southwest Dekalb High School marching band. Those kids know how to put on a show. I’m from the mark-time-hut roll ankle toe world, thus I can appreciate good technique and sound from SWD. I will say, next time that school from Miami takes the field, please SWD, be ready. Southwest Dekalb, best band in metro-Atlanta!

I love how everyone is so supportive of their respective schools (shout out to Shiloh where my nephew attends!)
This is just in response to everyone who can only state that SWD was in a reality show and the movie “Drumline”. Before and after those recent events SWD also performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade (the first African-American band to do so), played in the Carnival of Flowers in France and was the only band to perform in the opening ceremony for the 1996 Olympics. They also performed in Johannesburg, performed for President GW Bush, were the first high school band in history featured in exhibition performance at the Bands of America National Championship (Indianapolis, Indiana), and performed in the 2006 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasedena, California. Whoo! That was a long list.
I believe the point of this poll was for everyone to show support for their favorite high school bands-not to bash other schools. You can be proud without putting other bands down. All of these kids have worked their butts off (not to mention their families).
