I agree Tri Cities has a balance of “classic” and “urban-neo”!

I say Columbia has the best band in DEKALB! They are tasteful and can play more than one song. Last year I observed all of the schools that they played and guess what… SWD looked like scarry cats- especially the dance team. They only blew ONE song in the stands the entire game. So SWD, ya’ll may have been the best at one time, but it surely didn’t show last year.
Maybe its me but in my day (89-94 at Cedar Grove) there was a higher level of intensity and participation from students. Let’s make it what it’s really about- fun, competitive sports…

I may be biased since I graduated from there and was a part of their incredible band program, but the East Coweta High School Marching Indians are still fantastic! My vote is for them, hands down!

If you have not had the opportunity to watch the George Walton Academy band, you are missing a treat. They are small in number, but they pack a BIG sound and can not be beat on execution.

You have to love the humility of SWD Parent and Student! Hilarious!

Have to say I did get to see Tri-Cities against Marietta a few years ago. They do have an outstanding band — no question.

Hillgrove Marching Band in West Cobb is amazing. The school is only 3 years old, but impressive. Pay attention to them.

Hillgrove High school is one of the newest additions to the fantastic band programs in Cobb county. The band has come a long way in only three years. Considering how thier sound and technique have improved in this time period, they are one of the best up and comming bands in Georgia. They have a bright future in this season and the next few years.

Hillgrove high school might still be new and growing but they are on their way to be the next Lassiter. Try to catch them this season because they are on fire.

Harrison High School seems destined this year to continue its past successes. They have been ranked nationally in the top 12 high school bands for the last few years and they were one of eight bands selected nationally to march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year. So be sure to watch as they represent Georgia on Thanksgiving Day in New York. However, most importantly, these kids have earned their success..they are even out practicing today, on a Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.! And they love what they do!

Hillgrove rocks the house. Just saw their 2009 first game performance and I have to say, they are setting themselves up to be the best band in GA, not only in show quality, but in discipline, dedication, and overall attitude. I mean… for crying out loud, the visiting band gave Hillgrove a 5-10 minute standing ovation from their buses.

Hillgrove Marching Band!! Remembering back to their first year marching in hoodies, they’ve come extremely far. Now in their fourth year, you can see the support they have. Hillgrove is truely on its way to becoming one of Georgia’s and America’s finest high school music programs!!…….that new 8-member tuba section isn’t too bad either ;-)
