YOUR PICKS
1) Chick-fil-A
You said, “None of the fancy places can touch their shakes!”
4) Zesto
5) OK Café
OUR PICKS
1) Rita’s
Dining critic Meridith Ford Goldman says, “The power-packed punch of mango ice with vanilla custard from this Philly-based chain (I like mine better without the cookies) will elevate your mood so much that you’re bound to burn some extra calories just by drinking it.”
2) 10 Degrees South’s “Don Pedro”
3) The Varsity’s F.O. (frosted orange)
Krispy Kreme is overrated. Go for the pistachio.
5) Dairy Queen
Specifically, the “banana cream pie dream pie” Blizzard

#1.)Flip has the BEST milkshakes in Atlanta. They have a lot of creative flavors. I was first skeptical about their Krispy Creame milkshake, there are pieces of the doughnut literally in the milkshake! Sounds kind of nasty but it’s so awesome especially if your from Atlanta & grew up on Krispy Kreme. It’s not the place you can stop really fast and grab a milkshake. Plus they are not so reasonable either.
#2.)Not so outside the box. For those classic milkshakes Chick-Fil-A is definantly a close second it is fast, reasonable, & oh so delicious.
Honorable mention- Fat Burger, Steak N’ Shake, & Johnny Rockets

For me, it narrows down to two restaurants:
1. Chick Fil A
2. Steak n Shake (I used to work there long time ago)
But if I had to choose the best of the two, I’d go with CHICK FIL A all the way!!!!!!!!!!
By the way, DQ sucks!! Also, BK shouldn’t even be on the list of the best of anything except the Whopper.

I am an expert shake consumer. I will say that malts taste much better. Hands down Dairy Queen makes the best in Atlanta an at a very reasonable price . Notable mention is Chick-fil-a, krispy cream shake at Flip, and Woody’s (sandwich shop across from Grady stadium, but poor work hours), Wendy’s is also decent. Cheap shakes/malts are at McDonald’s , Bking

Methinks that Flip may be rigging this contest. They are interesting, but I promise you, having tried it at the owner’s last place next to the Fox Theater, that the Foi Gras is not something that more than a handful of people in Atlanta really would rate the “Best Milkshake.” Seriously. It’s another semi-overrated, trendy, new place that will most likely be gone next year, when the shine wears off, the owner moves on to his next venture, and the business settles into routine. By all mean, check it out. But don’t make a special trip just for milkshakes. Different does not always mean better.

These opinion type polls are a waste of time. Any time you get suburban morons voting for things you are going to get the lowest of the low type votes. Burger King??!! Are you kidding me? If you eat at burger king enough to have even realized that they have a milkshake then you should probably just kill yourself. Or dont, you will be dead soon anyways.

They have other types of milkshakes besides Fois Gras (that is disgusting by the way). It is not rigged, it is that every few years or so all the SUVs in MariettaAlpharetta Land hear of a safe eatery downtown to try. Flip is this years choice because of the American Idol like appeal of Richard Blais. Dont worry, it will all be over soon and they will go back to eating at Burger King.

Apply your critical thinking skills. How many people around atlanta have gone to Flip compared to steak and shake, chick fil a, DQ etc? Yet overwhelming voting is going to Flip. But apparently anyone who lives in Alpharetta, marietta etc eats nothing but fastfood. I’ve had there milkshakes and they are not better than any average fastfood chain. Just different. I’d protest the rigging of these contests that encourage managers of small town eateries to shoot for free publicity.

I think EdgewoodAdam is a pretty good example of the pretension that makes so many people laugh each time the “in crowd” declare a hot new eatery as “THE BEST.” I like Flip. I’ve been there four times now since it opened a few months back. And if it is still there twenty-four months from now, I will be completely surprised. Because, you see, snobby guys like EdgewoodAdam latch onto what ever the flavor of the month is, and then move on. It’s a shame. As much as EdgewoodAdam likes to turn up his nose at those who live outside of the Perimeter, I’ll guarantee that Richard Blais hopes that they keep coming back, because he knows that Adam and his intown hummingbirds are too busy trying to find the next “BIG THING” to sustain anything original for more than a short time.

A legitimate review:
Burger King is by far the best and most complex flavors at the right price.
Waffle Houses may be the best tasting, but you have to know the right waitress and she’ll meet you in back with the off the menu milkshake.
FLIP – Got krispy kreme shrapnel stuck in my throat while drinking their milkshake.
Steak and Shake – Not sure if they have milkshakes. I couldn’t find any mention on the menu.
Chick Fil A – Not bad, but I prefer taking their ice dream cups and beating it while in the sun until it become a milk shake. Trust me, it’s good.
Dairy Queen – The vanilla shakes are good but it depends on who is working the counter. One time I got snickers shrapnel stuck in my throat from drinking a milkshake. Why would someone do this?
McDonalds – The McFlurry is McFabulous
Walmart – Its OK, but the price is fantastic

All of the mentioned milkshake contenders use Red 40 to make you think it’s all strawberry…truth is…they have about 1 strawberry in there for seed appearance and the rest is artificial flavoring. Ok…yes…I looked up everyone’s ingredients way beforehand…yes…I have a stupid allergy to Red 40 so I have to be careful. I’ve had shakes from Dairy Queen (which are very good)
I’ve had shakes from Zestos (delicious)
I’ve had shakes from McDonalds (pretty good)
I’ve had shakes from Checkers (they were ok)
But when I visited Indianapolis this past March. I went to Steak n Shake and had one of their shakes with the vanilla on one side and strawberry on the other side. I have to tell ya, that was THE BEST SHAKE I have had in a very long time. I was trying to control myself, it was that good. Steak n Shake has all of them BEAT, HANDS DOWN. It’s Steak n Shake folks:-)

My two cents on FLIP: Yes, it’s still trendy. Yes, I can see where some would say it’s over-priced (the milkshakes anyway). No, it doesn’t have a drive-thru where you can just go grab a shake. But all I can tell you is it’s been a VERY long time since I visited a restaurant that was supposed to be the latest “in” spot that had me wanting to return over and over. FLIP does that. The milkshakes ARE very good, as well as being fun and whimsical with the flavors (and the food is darn good too by the way). Some people just crack me up, such as the “anti-trenders”, you know the ones, they’ve been all over the board here. Half of ‘em probably haven’t even been to FLIP, yet they knock the place just because it’s considered “trendy”. You know it IS just possible that the place is “hot” right now because it’s actually very good, which I have found to be the case. So yea, have your subjective opinions, that’s all this board is about anyway. You may not like shakes at FLIP, so be it, but don’t be so childish as to knock it SIMPLY because of it’s trendiness.
Oh and I have always loved the Jamoca shakes at Arby’s too.

ZESTO’s Blueberry milkshake is the bomb and the best in Atlanta. It even makes getting panhandled in the parking lot on Ponce worth it. Frosted Orange’s at The Varsity are great and well worth the adventure. Chick-Fil-A’s shakes are very good, and I like the fact that this chain is based in ATL.

You guys are fools. Most of these products are not milkshakes. Milkshakes are made with ice cream. YOur moronic food critic admits that Rita’s does not sell ice cream but picks them as havingthe best of a product they don’t sell. Most of the other choices do not have ice cream in them.

These blogs are bogus, with employees and managers of these chain restaurants “stuffing the ballot”. Anyone who thinks burger king or mcdonalds has good milkshakes needs to lay off the drugs for a few days.

I think chain restaurants should be banned from these polls… how embarrassing for anyone visiting Atlanta. Just because its on ever street corner doesn’t make it the best.

I have had a shake from Hardee’s also Seth, and I will say that even though I don’t think they’re ATL’s best, they are pretty tasty. I love Steak and Shake’s Very Berry and Cookies and Cream. I’ve heard so much about Flip’s shakes, but aren’t they close to 10 bucks?

Woodys. Great food to. A lot of the other places listed here cannot say that. P.S.- The “real” ATL housewives are a disgrace. Foreclosures, bar room brawls, and no baby daddy in sight(KIM)…….yeah these people are Atlanta’s elite. More like our shame.
