We have our winners, and no one should be surprised that a local institution came out at the top of your list.
Atlantans just can’t get enough Waffle House. Though it has scattered to 25 states, and now covers most of the lower half of the U.S. from Delaware to Arizona, it began in Avondale Estates. Even when we’re away from Atlanta, we can still get a taste of home. Take a look at the rest of your picks for the best place to get breakfast in and around Atlanta.
Our dining critic, Meridith Ford Goldman, agreed with readers on three out of their five top picks, among them is the one that she puts at No. 1. Ria’s Bluebird is a place that combines some unusual breakfast items — such as the surprisingly yummy country-fried tempeh with biscuits and gravy — with many of the traditional favorites. Ria’s Bluebird has become a favorite for both its Grant Park and Cabbagetown neighbors and folks from all over town. Mongo is right that The Breakfast Club in Tybee is the best in GA. In metro Atlanta it is Fagan’s, Dillards or The Midway Mealhouse.

social house on howell mill is AMAZING!! thumbs up, crescent moon, and highland bakery get honorable mention! ria’s is good but not enough of a selection. flying biscuit is just ok in comparison to the others. will check out west egg and parish. j christophers didnt bowl me over…

Fagan’s Biscuit Barn on 141 in Forsyth County. Homemade biscuits, tender ham, country ham, smoked sausage, tenderloin, salmon patties,steak, chicken, streak of lean, sausage,bacon, eggs (scrambled, fried, over easy, milk or sausage gravy, potato pancakes, hash brown patties, grits.
What more could you want? Not only great food but the feeling of being at home.

6Digitballin – thanks for the shout out! i’m glad you enjoy my homemade biscuits. they better than any biscuit in ATL..I’m laughin at all these people who are saying waffle house, ihop, etc. when we all know daym well my food is the best hands down! hey, ATL – get at me and eat my biscuits! THE DULUTH REXALL GRILL HAS THE BEST BREAKFAST EVER! ALL HOME COOKED AND DELICIOUS. HUGE BEAUTIFUL BROWN BISCUITS RIGHT OUT OF THE OVEN AND THE HOME COOKED LUNCHES ARE WONDERFUL TOO, ALONG WITH THE BEST CHOCOLATE FUDGE CAKE ANYWHERE. Two eggs and sausage links…thanks for the come-back. Thought that might be the case in my quest to find “goetta” for breakfast. If someone would find a way to put this on their menu it would be a huge hit. You are right, I have my recipe from the old world from Cincinnati. It is sold commercially, but I lost the address from where to order. Guess I will have to make my next batch. How do you have any left to freeze? Never lasts that long around my house. Thanks again.
