Where can you get the best breakfast in and around Atlanta?

We have our winners, and no one should be surprised that a local institution came out at the top of your list.

Atlantans just can’t get enough Waffle House. Though it has scattered to 25 states, and now covers most of the lower half of the U.S. from Delaware to Arizona, it began in Avondale Estates. Even when we’re away from Atlanta, we can still get a taste of home. Take a look at the rest of your picks for the best place to get breakfast in and around Atlanta.

Our dining critic, Meridith Ford Goldman, agreed with readers on three out of their five top picks, among them is the one that she puts at No. 1. Ria’s Bluebird is a place that combines some unusual breakfast items — such as the surprisingly yummy country-fried tempeh with biscuits and gravy — with many of the traditional favorites. Ria’s Bluebird has become a favorite for both its Grant Park and Cabbagetown neighbors and folks from all over town. Check out the rest of our picks for the best place to grab breakfast in and around Atlanta.

Snellville Diner has the best breakfast! Portions are generous and the options are plentiful. If you crave it, they can make it.

Original Pancake House, Windward Parkway location in Alpharetta. This place starts with a straightforward, top-quality product and then the staff executes extremely well, again and again. Go with the pancakes, fried eggs and bacon plate. Cannot be beat. And the coffee is extremely good–and served with rich, delicious creme. Perfect all the way around.

Anything with Bagel in the name is obviously omitted – we are in the south. It should be biscuit centric. If Hardees was full service breakfast their biscuits would not taste so good, so it must be The Hickory House, the big brother to JR’s Log House. The Waffle House certainly ranks top 3.
