Breaking down the underclassmen
We’ve come to the end of the season and the time when your humble correspondent steps aside for the insanity that is college recruiting in the South. The AJC’s expert, Chip Towers, will get you through the process.
But before we go, here is a little exercise I put together this morning, breaking down the underclassmen who have declared for the draft by conference. It will not surprise you that the SEC (15) and the ACC (10) lead the way. Look at this list and tell me the guys you are really going to miss.
I want to thank you all for another wonderful season. We’ve had our ups and downs but that is what makes it fun and interesting. You are the smartest and most passionate college football fans in the world and I appreciate you. Have fun with this….TB

I hate UGA right now my name is FIRE MIKE BOBO. and Richt needs to go after that. even if Richt is more respectable than Chizik he’s a terrible coach.
You do recognize your team will suck next year. your offense will fail miserably without (s)cam and a senior offensive line and your defense won’t be able to stop the pass cause your secondary is worse than UGA’s under Martinez, and you won’t have any pass rush.

No need to thank me…honestly! But if you see my point, then i’m glad it was said.
I love college football, and my Bulldogs the most. I would love a site where people have this as their priority as well. Football fans first, loyalty to our schools second. There is no need to be vile in our common thoughts. Passion can be expressed without particular discontent!
Anyways, i’m particularly excited to hear some good recruiting news this week. From what i have gathered lately, we should get a needed boost of quality players this week. I only hope we can coach them up to their full potential. This year is a must-have! Time to step up, and bring us back to the “glory days”! I, for one, have faith in our players (present & future), our coaches, and our faithfull followers.

I’m not “defending” anyone. I am merely expressing my discontent for ALL the hatred spewed on this site. This isn’t a pissing contest, as much as some people here believe it to be. I don’t care what school one “represents”. It is my singular thought and wish for people to express themselves without putting another’s thoughts down. Honestly, what good comes of it. with our 3 stud Jrs leaving early and 4 out of 5 OL starters graduating and with maybe the toughest road schedule in the country next year..I see a 8-4 type of season..and possiblly make another run in 2012…I can see UGA having an AU type of season next year, good SR OL and with a very good home schedule….

I have alot of UGA friends and they act like AU will go away for the next 10 seasons? I don’t get the hate from UGA lately? AU has gone undefeated twice the last 6 years, with two different coaching staffs, that to me make us a very good program..just like UF,Bama,LSU, UGA…why the hate?

AU fan: your right there is a lot of hate, and it stems from our rivalry its not a personal hate for any auburn fan its just against the team. personally I watched the NC with a bunch of my auburn supporting friends, and I was the only UGA fan there so it isn’t personal its just hate against the team.

Jerrell Powe was a senior in 2010 …. he wasn’t allowed to play his freshman year but the NCAA charged him a year of eligibility. He doesn’t have to declare – he did announce he would not seek another year of eligibility from the NCAA, which there was some thought that since he wasn’t allowed to play as a freshman, the NCAA would have given him his fifth year. He elected not to pursue that. Good kid, terrible year and his draft stock rivals some of the trash stocks. Too bad.

What’s up beast? Unfortunately you got it right. AU has bragging rights till early Sept. so let em crow. I’m cool with that and not particularly concerned with them in 2011 as I think they take a step back to 8-4 for a year and then field a decent team in 2012.
As for Cam Newton Chuck did make a very valid point today in stating that all 9 of AU’s coaches are coming back this year. Usually if there is something to be worried about as far as payoffs, etc.the coaches tend to start jumping ship cause they know something’s about to come down. Kinda like Pete Carroll leaving USC or Lou Holtz leaving several programs right before they go on probation. The fact that all 9 of their coaches are returning is a good indication they they know the program is clean and that there is nothing else with the whole Cam Newton saga. Looks like there may not be any fire where there’s smoke after all. Maybe.

1. This isn’t a UGA Blog…there are UGA blogs on the ajc..this isn’t one…so we can discuss anything and everything and not be out of line…
2. I like this chant that is used when I watch my Arsenal play Tottenham in English Premier league..so I’ll use it in playful banter with UGA fans..it goes something like this..

3. FYI, rivals is updating the recruits today at 1 pm est. I think they stated that 26 (now 12-13) will be 5 star and two 5-star players will drop to 4-star. This should shuffle the recruiting deck a little bit in rankings. Anyone think UGA will get in the top 12 this year? AU is acting like they have some kids on the way and behind the scenes they are extremely excited about more commitals..I wish February would get here already!

This year is a good example that shows the differences in the the championship process, between pro and college. The pro’s of course have a play off system,which does crown a true champion. However the regular season teams , in both leagues, lost there first round games.
In college football the regular season matters. the team you beat to win your conference, will not have a second chance, that is until next year.
