Auburn beats Alabama at the buzzer

Man, a whole bunch of stuff is going to happen in the next 48 hours. I’ll make this quick because I’m headed out the door to Tuscaloosa:

1. Auburn at Alabama: I have heard a lot of reasons why Alabama is going to win this game and all them make sense. I am certainly not going to be shocked if the Crimson Tide prevails in the Iron Bowl, particularly if Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy has a good day throwing the ball. But Auburn has been a very resilient team under pressure and I just think the Tigers will find a way to win.  Auburn will get the last possession and Cam Newton will drive the Tigers into position for Wes Byrum to kick the game-winning field goal: Auburn 27, Alabama 24.

2. Georgia Tech at Georgia: Both teams have had disappointing seasons but right now I just think Georgia has more athletes, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Georgia Tech will have to commit an extra defender to stop the run and then Aaron Murray and A.J. Green will make some big plays in the passing game. Georgia 31, Georgia Tech 21.

3. LSU at Arkansas (Little Rock): This looks like a dangerous game for LSU (10-1) because Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett has thrown for over 300 yards eight times this season. But I just can’t bet against Les Miles and this LSU team, which will find yet another way to win. LSU 28, Arkansas 27.

4. Kentucky at Tennessee: Tennessee (5-6) has beaten Kentucky 25 straight times and needs another win to qualify for a bowl. Kentucky (6-5) has had a tough time stopping anybody. I’m looking for a shootout. Tennessee 35, Kentucky 31.

5. Mississippi State at Ole Miss:  Mississippi State (7-4) has four losses to No. 2 Auburn, No. 5 LSU, No. 11 Alabama, and No. 12 Arkansas. The Bulldogs are a good football team that has beaten Georgia and Florida. Mississippi State 31, Ole Miss 17.

6. Florida at Florida State:  I’m just not sure how fired up the Gators are going to be to play anybody this week. Florida State wins this game and hopes that Maryland beats N.C. State. That would give the Seminoles a trip to next week’s ACC championship game. Florida State 28, Florida 21.

7.  South Carolina at Clemson: South Carolina is not going to overextend itself because the SEC championship game with Auburn is coming up next week. Marcus Lattimore gets the ball less than 10 times and the game is close. South Carolina 17, Clemson 10.

8. N.C. State at Maryland: A win puts N.C. State into the ACC championship game against Virginia Tech. A Maryland win puts Florida State into the ACC title game. N.C. State has Russell Wilson at quarterback and that should be enough. N.C. State 24, Maryland 20.

9. Oklahoma at Oklahoma State: Oklahoma State (10-1) leads the nation in total offense with 552 yards and 45.27 points per game. A win puts the Cowboys into their first-ever Big 12 championship game. Go with the Pokes because they simply have too many weapons. Oklahoma State 28, Oklahoma 24.

10. Michigan at Ohio State: The Buckeyes (10-1) are trying to win their seventh straight game over Michigan and to lock up a BCS bowl for the sixth straight season. They will do both.  Ohio State 28, Michigan 10.

Everyone keeps talking about how hard it is to go in to Tuscaloser and beat Bama but I’ve not heard those same people mention that Bama has but one win against AU in Tuscaloser since 2000. Bama at home is not a scary thing for AU.

Can anybody tell me which major Engineering Firms are recruiting Josh Nesbitt and Anthony Allen?? They are Student Athletes first like all the Techies claim right??

Do you think they’ll start their own firm?

Can anyone imagine their dreadlocks and Ebonics in a boardroom?

Nesbitt and Allen, LLP. Finest playground Engineers around, and designers of the CHOKE.

Nesbitt will coach football, and be a PE teacher.

But when a UGA grad does that, Tech grads consider it a failure. However, they will consider Nesbitt a “major contributer to his community”

Think about the football team THUGA puts on the field. 96% of the players are academically provisionally accepted, with Adams and his cronies knowing full well that they will use up all their coaching and tutors and elligibility and then have their asses kicked out on the street and soon be pushing grocery carts around Atlanta looking for a warm place to sleep. What a pitiful way to run the State’s flagship university. I am going to this week’s game where the Ga THUGS will undoubtedly whip my North Avenue Scholar Athletes once again. Brawn and brainless win out over brains any day of the week when you are talking mayhem on the field. But once again I am hoping that Tech stomps their sorry asses.

FROM ANOTHER AJC BLOGGER: Reading all these simple minded and illiterate comments from the THUGA rednecks remind me that I was right to routinely reject any applicant for a job when I was the Personnel Director for a Fortune 500 Company, Naturally being a Tech Grad (IM 1976)I already knew of the educational gaps for THUGA grads and the redneck work ethics they brought to the job. Occasionally I would ,against my better judgement, feed one of the poor things into some half-ass entry level job just to seee if my opinion of their qualifications, or more than likely unqualifications, and without fail they had either already been fired or quit. The ones that managed to stay provided me daily glimpses of my mistakes.

It was sort of pitiful to see the poor things come in with their degrees and actually think they were qualified. Frankly a degree from THUGA held about the same weight as Fort Valley State, ABAC or Clark of Atlanta. Actually I preferred a degree holder from these Institutions of “higher learning” to THUGA as they knew which side of the 8 ball they were on and had better attitudes.

Attention, everyone, especially dawgtards. We will now observe a moment of silence in memory of Saint Jan Kemp, who exposed the shameful practices at UGA that were initiated and carried out by slimeball Vince Dooley. Dooley’s image as a coach and a nice guy were forever shattered during the trial, not to mention the one million dollars that dawgtards had to pay Saint Jan. These practices of recruiting morons and coddling them for four years, them tossing them out like garbage, are still going on, but at least the world knows what’s happening in Athens now.

And now, the moment of silence…

Youtube/MySpace — Don’t you get it, Reggie Ball, Joe Hamilton, Ruben Houston, Joshua Nesbitt, Stephon Marbury are/were all GT students who just happen to play football or basketball. However, athletics do not define them. They are/were primarily scholars who, as a diversion from studies, were also NCAA participants. What has been going on over on The Flats really has been an inspiring feel good story for all of collegiate athletics.

However, you did get one thing right, Engineering is clearly the superior profession over other crap disciplines such as Medicine, Law, Education, Business, etc., The only impact that one came make on society is through Engineering and the sooner you realize this the less frustrated you will be.

Hey Tony, that would be something and Auburn goes undefeated again with no NC. Speaking of NC, the BCS is a joke. Look at FCS with their playoff system this year. Semi finals are on DEC. 17 and 18 with Championship game on Jan. 7. Plenty of time to have your bowl games for teams eliminated and your Championship game. Go back to an 11 game schedule and you can do it. No excuses. Playoffs and the Bowl games, a win win situation.

Youtube/MySpace — If you don’t think that GT takes academics seriously, just look up the CV of former Coach George O’Leary. I dare you to find a more academically decorated Division I football coach. GT only accepts the best — learned men of the highest integrity. This applies to coaches (see George O’Leary) and for players (see Ruben Houston or Joe Hamilton).

Hey Muck Racht and Saint Jan,
I realize that you spend all your time fantasizing about all things Dawg and probably missed the news, BUT the only Rhodes scholarship winner this year from the state of Georgia came from UGA, not Tech.
