Auburn beats Alabama at the buzzer

Man, a whole bunch of stuff is going to happen in the next 48 hours. I’ll make this quick because I’m headed out the door to Tuscaloosa:

1. Auburn at Alabama: I have heard a lot of reasons why Alabama is going to win this game and all them make sense. I am certainly not going to be shocked if the Crimson Tide prevails in the Iron Bowl, particularly if Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy has a good day throwing the ball. But Auburn has been a very resilient team under pressure and I just think the Tigers will find a way to win.  Auburn will get the last possession and Cam Newton will drive the Tigers into position for Wes Byrum to kick the game-winning field goal: Auburn 27, Alabama 24.

2. Georgia Tech at Georgia: Both teams have had disappointing seasons but right now I just think Georgia has more athletes, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Georgia Tech will have to commit an extra defender to stop the run and then Aaron Murray and A.J. Green will make some big plays in the passing game. Georgia 31, Georgia Tech 21.

3. LSU at Arkansas (Little Rock): This looks like a dangerous game for LSU (10-1) because Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett has thrown for over 300 yards eight times this season. But I just can’t bet against Les Miles and this LSU team, which will find yet another way to win. LSU 28, Arkansas 27.

4. Kentucky at Tennessee: Tennessee (5-6) has beaten Kentucky 25 straight times and needs another win to qualify for a bowl. Kentucky (6-5) has had a tough time stopping anybody. I’m looking for a shootout. Tennessee 35, Kentucky 31.

5. Mississippi State at Ole Miss:  Mississippi State (7-4) has four losses to No. 2 Auburn, No. 5 LSU, No. 11 Alabama, and No. 12 Arkansas. The Bulldogs are a good football team that has beaten Georgia and Florida. Mississippi State 31, Ole Miss 17.

6. Florida at Florida State:  I’m just not sure how fired up the Gators are going to be to play anybody this week. Florida State wins this game and hopes that Maryland beats N.C. State. That would give the Seminoles a trip to next week’s ACC championship game. Florida State 28, Florida 21.

7.  South Carolina at Clemson: South Carolina is not going to overextend itself because the SEC championship game with Auburn is coming up next week. Marcus Lattimore gets the ball less than 10 times and the game is close. South Carolina 17, Clemson 10.

8. N.C. State at Maryland: A win puts N.C. State into the ACC championship game against Virginia Tech. A Maryland win puts Florida State into the ACC title game. N.C. State has Russell Wilson at quarterback and that should be enough. N.C. State 24, Maryland 20.

9. Oklahoma at Oklahoma State: Oklahoma State (10-1) leads the nation in total offense with 552 yards and 45.27 points per game. A win puts the Cowboys into their first-ever Big 12 championship game. Go with the Pokes because they simply have too many weapons. Oklahoma State 28, Oklahoma 24.

10. Michigan at Ohio State: The Buckeyes (10-1) are trying to win their seventh straight game over Michigan and to lock up a BCS bowl for the sixth straight season. They will do both.  Ohio State 28, Michigan 10.

Think about the football team THUGA puts on the field. 96% of the players are academically provisionally accepted, with Adams and his cronies knowing full well that they will use up all their coaching and tutors and elligibility and then have their asses kicked out on the street and soon be pushing grocery carts around Atlanta looking for a warm place to sleep. What a pitiful way to run the State’s flagship university. I am going to this week’s game where the Ga THUGS will undoubtedly whip my North Avenue Scholar Athletes once again. Brawn and brainless win out over brains any day of the week when you are talking mayhem on the field. But once again I am hoping that Tech stomps their sorry asses.

FROM ANOTHER AJC BLOGGER: Reading all these simple minded and illiterate comments from the THUGA rednecks remind me that I was right to routinely reject any applicant for a job when I was the Personnel Director for a Fortune 500 Company, Naturally being a Tech Grad (IM 1976)I already knew of the educational gaps for THUGA grads and the redneck work ethics they brought to the job. Occasionally I would ,against my better judgement, feed one of the poor things into some half-ass entry level job just to seee if my opinion of their qualifications, or more than likely unqualifications, and without fail they had either already been fired or quit. The ones that managed to stay provided me daily glimpses of my mistakes.

It was sort of pitiful to see the poor things come in with their degrees and actually think they were qualified. Frankly a degree from THUGA held about the same weight as Fort Valley State, ABAC or Clark of Atlanta. Actually I preferred a degree holder from these Institutions of “higher learning” to THUGA as they knew which side of the 8 ball they were on and had better attitudes.

Attention, everyone, especially dawgtards. We will now observe a moment of silence in memory of Saint Jan Kemp, who exposed the shameful practices at UGA that were initiated and carried out by slimeball Vince Dooley. Dooley’s image as a coach and a nice guy were forever shattered during the trial, not to mention the one million dollars that dawgtards had to pay Saint Jan. These practices of recruiting morons and coddling them for four years, them tossing them out like garbage, are still going on, but at least the world knows what’s happening in Athens now.

Youtube/MySpace — Don’t you get it, Reggie Ball, Joe Hamilton, Ruben Houston, Joshua Nesbitt, Stephon Marbury are/were all GT students who just happen to play football or basketball. However, athletics do not define them. They are/were primarily scholars who, as a diversion from studies, were also NCAA participants. What has been going on over on The Flats really has been an inspiring feel good story for all of collegiate athletics.

However, you did get one thing right, Engineering is clearly the superior profession over other crap disciplines such as Medicine, Law, Education, Business, etc., The only impact that one came make on society is through Engineering and the sooner you realize this the less frustrated you will be.

Hey Tony, that would be something and Auburn goes undefeated again with no NC. Speaking of NC, the BCS is a joke. Look at FCS with their playoff system this year. Semi finals are on DEC. 17 and 18 with Championship game on Jan. 7. Plenty of time to have your bowl games for teams eliminated and your Championship game. Go back to an 11 game schedule and you can do it. No excuses. Playoffs and the Bowl games, a win win situation.

GT only accepts the best — learned men of the highest integrity. This applies to coaches (see George O’Leary) and for players (see Ruben Houston or Joe Hamilton).

The same people, nationally, that picked Ole Miss to beat Auburn because it was a “trap game” are now picking bammer. Auburn is 6-1 all time in Tuscaloosa, thus Auburn fan’s name for the stadium there, “Jordan-Hare West”. Auburn wins but it won’t have to come down to a fourth quarter drive. Auburn by 14 at least.

As to Georgia winning because they have more athletes than Tech, Georgia has had more athletes than all six teams that beat them this year. All a team has to do to beat UGA is have decent coaching. Tech, however, may not be any better in that department than is UGA. I think the Dawgs pull this one out and qualify for the Pizza Bowl in B’ham.

Tony….

the Gators will come out fired up a plenty…..but with the ill-suited Brantley at QB….FSU still prevails over my Gators by 10 or more. It might not even be that close…..as Brantley might get sacked 10 times holding on to the ball long after his second and third receivers are running wide open 20 yards down the field, catch 5 of his tipped passes 10 yards or more behind the line of scrimmage, and pee in his pants thinking about playing college football (or taking a test on Monday in PE strategy). Sorry….I have seen enough of the “non-brilliant”, no- leadership skills of one John Brantley in the spread offense. It is a classic case of “overblown oil” not mixing with “quality water.” Now…if Urban decides to play Jordan Reed and Trey Burton more at QB and in the wildgator….the Gators might have a shot.

Bama by 7 over the Cam Newton Tigers. A lot of talent beats ONE big time talent…with Saban having a lot of time to prepare.

Arkansas beats LSU…and it might not be close if Mallet is on. But Arkansas is not a team you lay money on.

Vols vs Kentucky….battle for the Liberty…..185 to 183 in a 20 overtimes….when Smokey the dog….the only “player” left for Tennessee grads the loose ball and dodges the 5 remaining Kentucky players and makes a mad dash to the endzone to win it.

“Auburn is 6-1 all time in Tuscaloosa…”

That’s true. The first game in BDS (not really BDS – but in Tuscaloosa) occurred in 1901. Auburn won that game.

In the modern era, Auburn leads the series in BDS with 4 wins out of 5 games. Four of those games took place while Bama was playing under NCAA investigations and sanctions with the resultant scholarship reductions and coaching staff changes brought about by said sanctions. There are no excuses for that. Alabama created their own problems and paid the price for their mistakes. Auburn was not unique in their new-found success against the Crimson Tide during that era. Even Mississippi State had a win streak vs. the Tide in those dark years of Bama football history.

And so, in those four games, Auburn amassed a total of 69 points vs. Alabama’s total of 35 points. That represents a clear pattern of dominance in those 4 games. Since Alabama has regained their full allotment of scholarships and hired Coach Saban, there has been one game played at BDS. Alabama’s 36-0 victory over Auburn in that game brought the point total for Alabama vs. Auburn games at BDS in the modern era to a slight Crimson Tide advantage of 71 to 69.

Auburn might lead the series at BDS, but past success is not always indicative of future performance. I feel pretty good about Bama’s chances in today’s game. Auburn has put together a great football team this year. Alabama has a very good team as well. I expect a great game of classic SEC football to be played in BDS this afternoon. I also expect Alabama to prevail in this game.

I hope that we see a clean game with no injuries, and may the best team win… They usually do.

Im not saying that I disagree with the prediction of the Tech Uga game from Barnhart or any other football prognosticator because Tech has not done much to prove otherwise. However, WTF has Georgia done to prove that they are so much better
Teams Uga has beat and records: Teams Tech has beat and records:
La La 2-9 Sc State 9-2 (FCS)
UT 5-6 UNC 6-5
Vandy 2-9 Wake 2-9
UK 6-5 UVA 4-7
ISU 1-10 (FCS) MTSU 4-6
DUKE 3-8

UGA has beat 1 team with a winning record, Tech has only beat 2 with winning records but the FCS team UGA played doesnt even have a winning record. For crying out lou the FCS team that UGA beat only won 1 freaking game. I still am not saying that Tech will win, they must play very good to win, but UGA is not exactly the New England Patriots. Go Jackets, build on next season!!

Bama Dude, I realize that they have improved since AJ returned but they still managed to lose to a very average Florida team, and they blew a nice lead against Auburn to get blown out in the 4th qtr. The point is, everyone is making UGA out to be so much better than Tech but really they havent showed anything and neither has Tech. They are both very mediocre teams. I see it potentially being another 45-42 type of game, not saying Tech will win, lord knows they have left speechless plenty of other times this season, but I think it will be closer than the experts think. I think Tech is not as bad or Georgia as good, though Georgia is fighting for their lives and have material to be good. If Richt could bottle what he does against Tech, the run game in particular, he would have better seasons. He throws the ball like that is all he has, when he has good a good running game. The rain will make this a running game which will help Georgia, Tech is going to run no matter, but Georgia won’t do it any more than they have to. Georgia will win in a very close game.

Tech’s offense can’t score and their D can’t stop anyone. Georgia’s offense can score and their D can’t stop anyone. Tech’s only hope is turnovers in their favor, like the pick 6 against Duke. Without UGA turnovers and a couple of big special teams plays/scores for Tech, Georgia wins by at least two TDs.

I know writers like controversy and people who spew the kind of posts found on these blogs, but none of them mean much in the overall scheme of things. I would say that Georgia should win this game on paper, but it doesn’t always work that way in rivalry games (see 2008). Auburn and Alabama should also be a fight. Auburn, one of the two luckiest teams in America, loses to Alabama by 13: The Bama defense stops Auburn offense half of the time. The Aurburn defense stops the balanced Bama offense only about 3 times during the game. Alabama runners have a great game.
Alabama 33 Auburn 20

Georgia Tech plays with heart but can’t stop the UGA offense. Without Nesbit, the Tech offense is erratic and shoots itself in the foot too many times. Paul Johnson knows he has to gamble and Tech goes 1 for 4 on fourth down conversions. Aaron Murray has a great game and UGA offensive line takes control.
UGA 34 Tech 17

LSU, probably the luckiest team in America, loses to Arkansas. Arkansas scores early and Razorback fans give their team steady and enthusiastic volume throughout the game. Mallet reads the blitzes and keeps hitting secondary receivers for 10-15 yards. Arkansas defense plays a touch, stubborn game. Big win for the Arkansas program; LSU runs out of luck.
Arkansas 24 LSU 16

FSU feels the wind at its back, finally, in the Sunshine State. FSU fans have been smiling a lot more now that Bobby Bowden off the field–finally. (My Penn State friend let out a string of some pretty foul language when he heard eternal Joe Paterno is coming back next year.) FSU is on the rise; UF is not.

The writer does a good job of explaining why Cam is actually ineligible under SEC rules.

See http://www.williamsonherald.com/sports?id=73586

As many of you know, I worked for 10 years in the Athletic Department at Auburn. I am family friends with Jay Jacobs, though I am not particularly close to him. There have been a lot of rumors going around about what the Auburn administration knows and doesn’t know, and I think I can shed some light onto that. Like I said, I am close to the Jacobs family, and this info comes directly from a relative of Jay.

The FBI has been investigating McGregor for the gambling conspiracy probe, but none of that turned up any information on Cam Newton or any other Auburn players. It did, however, turn up some dirt on our old friend Kenny Rogers. Apparently Kenny has been doing this song and dance for awhile, setting up Mississippi State players with boosters to get paid to play. Well, the money started drying up at Miss St. A couple of the major boosters helping out have lost everything in the economic collapse. Kenny called Cecil Newton and told him about the arrangements that Miss St players of a certain value normally got. Kenny said he could make it happen for a 10% cut. Cecil, in a lapse of judgment, agreed. Rogers approached the normal boosters for the money, but they rejected him. That is where things got hairy. According to what Cecil has admitted to the Auburn administration, Rogers then approached Bond and Bell for the money. He initially asked for 180K, but they declined. Rogers claimed other colleges were offering more, even though it wasn’t true. It was just a bargaining ploy. He dropped the price all the way down to 100K before Cecil decided better of it and backed out. Cecil told Auburn everything, and the SEC has known about this since January. The NCAA has known about it since July, and Cam is still eligible.

This is where the FBI comes in. When Rogers realized he wasn’t getting any money at Miss St, he approached some well known Auburn boosters, including McGregor. That is when the FBI got him on tape. The FBI has Rogers admitting that he had orchestrated pay for play at Miss St with a couple of boosters named on the tape. The FBI is looking at bank records and transactions of the boosters as we speak. This will not end well at all for Mississippi State. The Miss St coaches had no idea how deep this went. If they had, they would not have stirred up this hornets nest. They had assumed Cam had been paid to go to Auburn, but he is completely innocent. McGregor had told Rogers, who at that time didn’t even have any contact with the Newtons, that he was not into paying players. But this explains why the FBI was asking the Miss St people about McGregor: because of his association with Kenny Rogers.

Academics does matter to most schools except for football factories like Auburn…

Alabama’s 2009 freshman class did more than just excel on the football field, the Crimson Tide placed 12 rookies on the 2010 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll, by far the highest total in the SEC — double the second-place team. Mississippi State was second with six while Mississippi had five and Kentucky had four. The Crimson Tide’s 12 honorees equaled the total number of Arkansas (3), Tennessee (3), Florida (2), Georgia (2), Auburn (1), Vanderbilt (1) and LSU (0) combined. Alabama freshmen that made the list include: Kenny Bell, Chris Bonds, D.J. Fluker, Nico Johnson, Kendall Kelly, Eddie Lacy, A.J. McCarron, William Ming, Kevin Norwood, Trent Richardson, Chance Warmack and Kellen Williams.

10th line of paragraph 2 of post by ATL is Tiger Town explains why Cam Newton is ineligible to play for any schoold in SEC, “Cecil, in a lapse of judgment, agreed.” The Preacher man agreed to accept cash in return for the Son of a Preacher Man agreeing to play football for MSU. That, my fellow sport fans, makes Cam Newton inelgible to play football in the SEC. According to ATL is Tiger Town the Auburn Atletic Director knows this happened. Absolutely shocking! If true, the AD has allowed a clearly inelgible player to play the whole season! We can surely correctly assume the Head Coach also knew! One can only wonder if the death penalty is actually in play in light of this evidence.

I’m no Auburn fan BUT Slive has definitely put the “fix” in with the refs. It’s going to give all the ammo anyone wants to make a case that the SEC front office boys have no moral character whatsoever. How sarcastic of that pompous ass(Slive) to routinely talk about the integrity of the SEC and then apparently give”orders” to call it tight one way( all on Fairely). Alabama is playing well BUT whoever the jackass was that called the unsportsmanlike penalty after the sack is definitely on somebody’s payroll. The refs have done their damage, Bama didn’t need any help and now the rest of the country knows what we’ve all known for ages. SEC officiating is the worst in the country.

Bama gave that game away.

If by “gave that game away” you mean appeared to get overconfident and failed to realize that a football game lasts 60 minutes, then maybe you’re right. Although, ‘Bama’s run offense was never an issue and Auburn’s secondary was able to make some much needed adjustments to their pass coverage.

Anyone who’s watched an Auburn game this year could tell you that they are far better in the second half than they are in the first.

I hope McElroy has a quick recovery from his concussion.

So when Newton is declared ineligible, and he pays no price, all of the wins are vacated. He will be smiling all the way to the NFL and a very large contract, leaving in his wake, teams that should have won, should have played for the national championship and a player that should have won the Heisman. Such character…I am appalled at the willingness of the SEC to crown him king!

A lot of people…including me….were wrong about Auburn. Nick Fairley is one hell of a football player (and that call against him was big time wrong…nothing different that any player does after a critical sack….the ref obviously was trying to make a point at the expense of the entire Auburn team….just wrong). Auburn sure got two special JC players in Newton and Fairley. That doesn’t happen very often.

I wonder what the Ole Ball Coach will cook up for Auburn?

that tackle on the Bama QB would have drawn a 15 yard penalty in the NFL….no need to slam him to the ground like that. The refs should have call him down sooner. It does appear that Auburn players do play to hurt the other teams QB….don’t they….no matter what you coach says…..two weeks in a row????????

Good comeback win by AU. But really? What does it matter?

AU sold their soul and is playing an ineligible player. What does it matter? Did you read the NY times article about Cecil Newton’s church not being able to pay for renovations for a long time and the city was about to condemn their property. Then wham. All of a sudden the church paid the 50k in renovations. But yet they are refusing to say where the money came from?

Bottom line AU won this game on the field- just like 11 other games. And bottom line is that AU when forfeit- not vacate, this game when its found out about their rampant pay for play policy. AU is done. Stick a fork in the South’s cheatingest program.

TampaGator if you want to throw a flag on the QB hit then on the other side the refs will have to blow the whistle earlier. The refs need to call IN th GRASP so the QB can’t keep trying to standup and sling a pass as he goes to the ground. You can’t be all for the QB and not let the defense play.

I’ve never understood how anyone – even an alumnus – could support and take pride in UGA’s football team. When you look at their history for the past forty years, how can anyone ignore Jan Kemp and the “remedial studies” scam, the Jim Harrick fiasco, the DUIs in the athletic office, the DUIs and other arrests of players, the #1 party school tag (i.e., the most drunk students), the suspensions and outright dismissals, the Fulmer Cup, and on and on?

As disgraceful and humiliating as it is, I don’t see many alums and fans demanding an end to this sordid activity. It sets UGA apart as the kind of school most people abhor, and it’s become an embarrassment to the whole state of Georgia.

Will it never end? Apparently not while Mark Richt is at UGA. Richt is perhaps the biggest hypocrite in the United States. But even with all the cheating and lawlessness that he ignores, he still can’t win the SEC.

Dean- Seriously, do you have a clue about the NCAA and infractions? The Death Penalty is not even an option. For the death penalty to even be considered, there has to be a total lack of institutional control. Meaning that the Auburn coach and/or A.D. would have had to KNOW for a fact that Newton had been paid BY AUBURN in order for that.

There’s nothing to show newton was ever offered money by auburn. Nothing to show (and has never even been discussed) that Chiciz or the A.D. knew anything.

Regarding the death penalty, one criteria is that the team must already be on probation. Auburn is not. Also, this is all nothing but a bunch of smoke. Auburn isn’t even accused of any wrong doing, it’s a Mississippi State problem.

Now, back to football: Auburn is now 7-1 all time in Tuskaloser, and has won 8 of the last 11 iron Bowl games. Cam Newton added 3 TD passes and another rushing today on his march to the Heisman, and Nick Fairley picked up two more sacks and a fumble recovery as he heads for several national Defensive Player of the year awards.

Another stat: The Auburn defense has now knocked 7 opposing QB’s out of the game this year, Little Lord McElroy being the latest victim. South Carolina’s Garcia has a chance to be the only one knocked out twice in the same season. Lucky guy!

Once we went up 24-7 felt two things had to happen in order for Auburn to get back in it. First Saban would have to take his foot off the gas ( He did . Also see vs Florida and Penn State.) Second keep feeding Julio Jones ( We didnt as he got injured ). We left 17 points on the field duing the first half. Against good teams it always comes back to bite you. Once Auburn saw us go conservative it fueled their confidence. Saban was right with his post game comment ” We as coaches have to learn from this as well “.

By NFL rule, if you slam a player’s head into the ground (especially a defenseless WR or QB)….intentionally or unintentionally…..it is a 15 yard pentalty. The Auburn player slammed the Bama QB’s head into the ground….real hard! The slam was not necessary, but the ref should have blown the whisle before he did it….so I blame the ref more than the player.

Auburn is one win away from the BCS CG, however the classlessness of this group of fans is the reason why they are voted the most obnoxious fans in the SEC. The program is such a fake program and the Board/Adminstration/Compliance/Booster are in such dissarray and malcontentious personalities that under no circumstances will they be a long term threat to the SEC and its members.

Just look at the Post from Auburn fans on here and the taste is of such ill informed, lack of common sense, chromosomes lacking, intelligence speaks for itself.

Everyone with a brain knows what Auburn has done in this one year cycle to get them where they are now, and at any other institution the coaching staff, AD, and support personnel would be fired by the President for violation of basic rules and compliance standards. “BOUGHT AND PAID FOR” is the new motto for all recruits who sign in December from JC and in February for High School Athletes. Before long the brazen attitudes will be Auburn boosters approaching opposing teams players after games making deals for transfers. It is the Auburn Way.

We may be 5-6 but at least we know how to manage a program of compliance, how kids may get into trouble but at least our coaches are not driving the bus to the party.

Stay Classless Auburn, you have earned it.

In November of 2009 Newton’s father Cecil solicited more than $100,000 from Mississippi State as a precondition to his son playing for the Bulldogs. Cecil Newton has admitted to soliciting the money. Whether any similar solicitation was made to Auburn, and whether Auburn paid any money to Newton or his family are unanswered questions. But these are questions entirely irrelevant to Newton’s eligibility to play football in the Southeastern Conference.

Bylaw 14.01.3.2 of the Southeastern Conference states as follows: If at any time before or after matriculation in a member institution, a student-athlete or any member of his/her family receives or agrees to receive, directly or indirectly, any aid or assistance beyond or in addition to that permitted by the Bylaws of this Conference … such student-athlete shall be ineligible for competition in any intercollegiate sport within the Conference for the remainder of his/her college career.

Why is he still playing? The rule is pretty clear…..

Cecil Newton-a member of Cam’s family-has admitted to soliciting money and agreeing to accept aid or assistance in addition to permissible grant in aid. Therefore, Cam Newton is ineligible to play anywhere in the Conference. Only a Pharisee, or a tax lawyer, could construe this bylaw to be inapplicable to the Newton situation.

It doesn’t matter whether Cam Newton knew about his father’s conduct. It doesn’t matter whether any money actually made its way into the Newtons’ pockets. It doesn’t matter whether Mississippi State is the only school from which Cecil Newton solicited money. Cam Newton is not eligible to play football “within the Conference.”

The Auburn apologists have raised a number of defenses. Cecil did not ask Auburn for money. Cam did not know what his father was doing. No money changed hands. Even if one willingly suspends disbelief and accepts these assertions at face value, it does not change the fact that what Cecil Newton has publicly admitted renders his son ineligible to play football in the SEC. Cam might be eligible to play in some other conference, but not the SEC and not at Auburn.

So….the auburn people might want to read the by laws…because I’m pretty sure it’s clear Cam is not eligible to play at Auburn according to what his father has admitted…The question is..why is it taking so long for the SEC to do something about it? Money, money, money….that’s why. If they don’t enforce their own rules then they are a joke IMO

By the way, UGA players are not taking classes at Duke. If they were, they would be Duke players. In what world does the ranking of things that do not exist matter? MikeP

katherine, Newton is still playing because your premise, that Cecil Newton solicited money, is not true.

Cecil Newton has not admitted to soliciting money. A TV journalist claims that an un-named source told him that Cecil solicited money. Big difference. Like everything else about this, there is no substance.

Fortunately, investigators don’t rely on unnamed third party statements. Investigators get to the truth, and the truth is that Cam Newton is eligible to play. If he weren’t he’d have been benched back in August. After all, the SEC has been all over this since January, which is 10 months.

Mississippi State may wind up having a problem out of this. Auburn and Cam Newton will not.

Wow – Now the Auburn folks (at least the ones on this blog – I have not heard anyone officially connected with the University say any of this) are denying that Cecil admitted agreeing to accept money. Live in denial if you must, and, apparently this is so vital to your lives, that you, well, must. Now that is truly pitiful.

Your own fans, including ATL is Tiger Town, who claims to be a personal friend of the AU AD, gave a detailed account only yesterday about Cecil’s admissions. Previously, the Auburn folk simply said that Cam had no personal knowledge of his father’s “doings” (although they were willing to admit Cecil had in fact been guilty of those “doings.) and he was therefore innocent. Then they said no money changed hands, although they admitted discussions about money had occurred with Cecil being a part of the conversations. In fact, that was originally the position of CGC. Apparently after being informed that Cam’s personal innocence was not the issue, the University folks quickly went from adamantly defending Cam to saying “no comment” on advice of lawyers.

Now, the defense changes once again, at least among the uninformed on this blog, to Cecil never admitted anything. Well, yes he did. And that, my friends, is the problem.

Julio Jones was seen making bets at VictoryLand this summer! Guess those FBI agents are going to announce that soon. Bama will receive the death penalty after finding boosters supported a gambling habit. Bama will also be stripped of their 9-3 season. Just Wait! NCAA will bring the hammer down even further! And because BAMA is ALREADY on probation, the death penalty will happen.

Oh..whatever happened to Julio and Ingram after the free fishing trips they received last year? Some guy they just happened to meet at the beach provided them with “free” fishing trips. Who does that? Look further and you’ll find some booster paid this guy to do their dirty work and hide the money trail!!!!

There is NO proof and never was. Everything is hearsay and neither the FBI or the NCAA have uncovered anything illegal or out of the ordinary after review of the Newton’s personal accounts or the church accounting records. If it was there, they would have found it ALREADY! And from what IS known, Cecil’s church is nothing but a run-down empty commercial store space…even AFTER the ALLEGED money he is falsely accused of having. And Cam drives a moped around campus – not a car! So much for all that money! huh?

So why would the FBI be getting involved in investigating college athletics if there’s nothing there??? Since when does the FBI get involved in this stuff anyway? Hmmmh.

The FBI is involved with illegal gambling and betting in Mississippi and more to the point the booster who (allegedly) was approached for cash. Also the agency was involved in looking into a Pay-For-Politics agenda by a booster at Auburn. This has been all over the news / sports world, I don’t see how you could’ve missed it…… HINT: The FBI is involved with FEDERAL cases / laws NOT college football. If you’re curious as to what the FBI does, please go to their website. This page will take you to the “What We Investigate” page.

FROM the TMZ Webpage:

Milton McGregor — a dog track owner arrested last month for allegedly bribing Alabama politicians to vote pro gambling.

We’re told agents asked someone connected to the Newton case if he was familiar with McGregor or the bribery scandal.

It’s unclear what, if any, direct connection McGregor has to Newton. Back in 2008, McGregor did donate a million bucks toward construction of a new arena at Auburn.

McGregor did not return a call for comment.

UPDATE 4:00PM PST: Milton McGregor’s attorney tells TMZ his client has “never had any contact – direct or indirect – with Cam Newton, Cecil Newton, Cam’s father; Kenny Rogers or anyone purporting to represent Cam Newton.” He also says McGregor has never compensated student athletes at Auburn or any other school.

Mr. College Football, you blasted Todd Grantham for his choke gesture and possibly you should have. Now, I wonder if you are going to call out Coach Johnson for his comments to Georgia players as the tech team tried to incite the Dawgs before the game. Just ask CPJ if he said anything to any Georgia player during that tech attempt to intimidate the Dawgs, and if he did, ask him what he said. He mouthed off to the players according to more than one Georgia player and coach and there is no place for that just as there was no place for what Grantham did, There is no way Mark Richt would smart mouth an opposing player. Are you going to let this go, or will you call him on the carpet. I have looked at the tape in slow motion and CPJ is clearly leading this, but what more would you expect from a classless outfit?
