Auburn beats Alabama at the buzzer

Man, a whole bunch of stuff is going to happen in the next 48 hours. I’ll make this quick because I’m headed out the door to Tuscaloosa:

1. Auburn at Alabama: I have heard a lot of reasons why Alabama is going to win this game and all them make sense. I am certainly not going to be shocked if the Crimson Tide prevails in the Iron Bowl, particularly if Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy has a good day throwing the ball. But Auburn has been a very resilient team under pressure and I just think the Tigers will find a way to win.  Auburn will get the last possession and Cam Newton will drive the Tigers into position for Wes Byrum to kick the game-winning field goal: Auburn 27, Alabama 24.

2. Georgia Tech at Georgia: Both teams have had disappointing seasons but right now I just think Georgia has more athletes, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Georgia Tech will have to commit an extra defender to stop the run and then Aaron Murray and A.J. Green will make some big plays in the passing game. Georgia 31, Georgia Tech 21.

3. LSU at Arkansas (Little Rock): This looks like a dangerous game for LSU (10-1) because Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett has thrown for over 300 yards eight times this season. But I just can’t bet against Les Miles and this LSU team, which will find yet another way to win. LSU 28, Arkansas 27.

4. Kentucky at Tennessee: Tennessee (5-6) has beaten Kentucky 25 straight times and needs another win to qualify for a bowl. Kentucky (6-5) has had a tough time stopping anybody. I’m looking for a shootout. Tennessee 35, Kentucky 31.

5. Mississippi State at Ole Miss:  Mississippi State (7-4) has four losses to No. 2 Auburn, No. 5 LSU, No. 11 Alabama, and No. 12 Arkansas. The Bulldogs are a good football team that has beaten Georgia and Florida. Mississippi State 31, Ole Miss 17.

6. Florida at Florida State:  I’m just not sure how fired up the Gators are going to be to play anybody this week. Florida State wins this game and hopes that Maryland beats N.C. State. That would give the Seminoles a trip to next week’s ACC championship game. Florida State 28, Florida 21.

7.  South Carolina at Clemson: South Carolina is not going to overextend itself because the SEC championship game with Auburn is coming up next week. Marcus Lattimore gets the ball less than 10 times and the game is close. South Carolina 17, Clemson 10.

8. N.C. State at Maryland: A win puts N.C. State into the ACC championship game against Virginia Tech. A Maryland win puts Florida State into the ACC title game. N.C. State has Russell Wilson at quarterback and that should be enough. N.C. State 24, Maryland 20.

9. Oklahoma at Oklahoma State: Oklahoma State (10-1) leads the nation in total offense with 552 yards and 45.27 points per game. A win puts the Cowboys into their first-ever Big 12 championship game. Go with the Pokes because they simply have too many weapons. Oklahoma State 28, Oklahoma 24.

10. Michigan at Ohio State: The Buckeyes (10-1) are trying to win their seventh straight game over Michigan and to lock up a BCS bowl for the sixth straight season. They will do both.  Ohio State 28, Michigan 10.

TampaGator – get real. That was a clean sack: NFL or college. Look at it again. Seriously, this ain’t badmitton.

NCAA COPS – what an a$$ and sore loser. Rumors. You’re stupid enough to believe and spread rumors. Ain’t no facts come out yet – maybe because THERE ARE NO FACTS. The NCAA has had the Newton’s financials (personal and church) for over two months now. The NCAA wants despirately to shut down Auburn before they make the title game – if they did anything wrong. OBviously they didn’t. Idiot.

Dean- Seriously, do you have a clue about the NCAA and infractions? The Death Penalty is not even an option. For the death penalty to even be considered, there has to be a total lack of institutional control. Meaning that the Auburn coach and/or A.D. would have had to KNOW for a fact that Newton had been paid BY AUBURN in order for that.

There’s nothing to show newton was ever offered money by auburn. Nothing to show (and has never even been discussed) that Chiciz or the A.D. knew anything.

Get a clue.

No Auburn fan here but after comming back from a 21 point deficit and hanging in there like they did from a good Bama team. They got my vote for a chance to go all the way. I would have bet on Bama to pull the upset.Auburn is a damn good team.

Regarding the death penalty, one criteria is that the team must already be on probation. Auburn is not. Also, this is all nothing but a bunch of smoke. Auburn isn’t even accused of any wrong doing, it’s a Mississippi State problem.

Now, back to football: Auburn is now 7-1 all time in Tuskaloser, and has won 8 of the last 11 iron Bowl games. Cam Newton added 3 TD passes and another rushing today on his march to the Heisman, and Nick Fairley picked up two more sacks and a fumble recovery as he heads for several national Defensive Player of the year awards.

Another stat: The Auburn defense has now knocked 7 opposing QB’s out of the game this year, Little Lord McElroy being the latest victim. South Carolina’s Garcia has a chance to be the only one knocked out twice in the same season. Lucky guy!

Mike Slive must make Cam Newton ineligible, vacate Auburn’s wins and have LSU play in the SEC Championship game. He has all the evidence he needs, and it will allow college football to have a Heisman Trophy winner and National Champion that is not going to be vacated. Otherwise, when Auburn and Cam are found ineligible it will be much worse for everyone.

How this clown gets so many accolades is amazing. Yeah, he has a 1 1/2 NC’s but what about Gene Chizick. A nobody coach on the brink of one. Sure negates Saban’s greatness, not to mention the worst let down against Auburn ever. No Bama fan is going to forget this. And should Saban have a couple of bad seasons, he is history. Wait, he’ll turn tail and run.

Let’s see. Utah, runs us out of the house. Texas stages rally with backup QB and now Auburn comes back from 24-0. A 4 million dollar waste. How much did Chizick cost?

I am sure the Big Red Elephant had no problem letting the bulldogs jump on their back to ride to Victory over Auburn, but it didn’t work. I don’t see how that lil Chicken in So. Carolina can carry the weight of the bulldogs too. I wish the dawgs would stand on their own in their loss to Auburn. The War Eagles are the Blessed team in the SEC this year and UGA is the cursed team.
Dawgs are setting up cooking breakfest and drinking Bloody Mary’s and preparing the other food to cook for the game meal. I hope no UGA fans get killed or kill someone when they drive thier drunk azzes home.

Once we went up 24-7 felt two things had to happen in order for Auburn to get back in it. First Saban would have to take his foot off the gas ( He did . Also see vs Florida and Penn State.) Second keep feeding Julio Jones ( We didnt as he got injured ). We left 17 points on the field duing the first half. Against good teams it always comes back to bite you. Once Auburn saw us go conservative it fueled their confidence. Saban was right with his post game comment ” We as coaches have to learn from this as well “.

Congrats to auburn. I would tell your fans to act like they’ve been there before but they haven’t so just let them continue to gloat like the team that hasn’t ever won anything and still hasn’t for that matter. So you beat a Bama team with 9 starters gone on Defense and star wide reciever out for the majority of the 4th Quarter. Are yall goin to say that Bama would’ve won if their QB was in on the last drive like yall said when McCoy got hurt for Texas? I didn’t think so’ Congrats to the auburn football team and their coaches for playing a helluva game. To all of you aubie fans, we’re polishing our trophy from last year, and you still don’t have one. Get Real….

By NFL rule, if you slam a player’s head into the ground (especially a defenseless WR or QB)….intentionally or unintentionally…..it is a 15 yard pentalty. The Auburn player slammed the Bama QB’s head into the ground….real hard! The slam was not necessary, but the ref should have blown the whisle before he did it….so I blame the ref more than the player.

I was one of the few on the East Coast that stayed up last night and watched the Boise State vs. Nevada game. That battle was equal to anything in the SEC, Big Ten, Pac 10…or any big name conference. On a given day, either of those two teams could beat any given team from any of the BCS conferences….no doubt. But the depth of Boise State was exposed to a terrific Nevada ground, ball control typle of game.
