It’s Tuesday, we’re tired of talking about Cam Newton, and the new BCS standings are out. So let’s update our projections.
BCS Championship: No. 1 Oregon vs. No. 2 Auburn.
Update: Just about every team that plays for the BCS national championship dodges at least one bullet along the way. For Oregon that was last Saturday night against California. Cal missed a 29-yard field goal that would have given the Bears the lead. Auburn (11-0) still has to win at Alabama and has to beat South Carolina for the second time this season when they meet in the SEC championship game on Dec. 4.
Rose: Wisconsin vs. Boise State.
Update: If Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Michigan State all finish at 11-1 the tiebreaker will go to the highest ranked team in the BCS Standings. That will be Wisconsin after the Badgers hung 83 on Indiana last Saturday. Boise State (9-0) still has three games left (Fresno State, Nevada, Utah State) but if the Broncos win out I beleive they will jump over TCU (which has one game left with 1-9 New Mexico) into the No. 3 spot. If Oregon goes to the big game, the Rose has to take Boise.
Sugar: LSU vs. Ohio State.
Update: LSU has to beat Ole Miss on Saturday, which it will do. But then the Tigers have a very interesting trip to Little Rock to face Arkansas on Nov. 27. Win both games and the Tigers are close to a lock for New Orleans if Auburn is in the big game. The Sugar will look at 12-0 TCU but I believe they will pass and take 11-1 Ohio State for the television ratings.
Orange: Virginia Tech vs. TCU.
Update: If the Sugar takes Ohio State, the Orange will basically have a choice between undefeated TCU and 11-1 Stanford. Michigan State can’t go at 11-1 because two Big Ten teams have already been picked. A two-loss SEC team can’t go because two SEC teams have been chosen.
Fiesta: Nebraska vs. West Virginia.
Update: The Fiesta gets the Big 12 champ and right now I’m leaning towards Nebraska. The Big East champions gets an automatic bid regardless of its record or ranking and so the Fiesta is praying that West Virginia wins that league. Looks like it will come down to the Backyard Brawl between Pittsburgh (5-4) and West Virginia (6-3) on Nov. 26. With West Virginia on the other side the Fiesta has a chance to sell some tickets. Don’t forget South Florida (6-3) which controls its destiny in the Big East.
Stanford (9-1) has games remaining with Oregon State and California. The Cardinal could finish 11-1 and be left out of the BCS unless Auburn stumbles down the stretch. Because if Auburn loses and either Boise or TCU moves into the BCS championship game, the Rose doesn’t have to take a non-automatic qualifier. The Rose would then be free to take Stanford to play Wisconsin, which is the game they want if Oregon is not available.
Any questions?

Let’s not make Nick mad.
I watched the replay of the AU-UGA game last night. The dirty play from AU was not as bad as it seemed on Saturday.
In fact, there were only three plays that Fairley should have either been flagged, or ejected; (a) grinding his cage into Murray’s face (no flag), (b) Very (make that VERY) late hit on Murray, plus spearing. (He was flagged on this play, but still think an ejection was appropriate. (c) shot at Murray’s knee late in the game (No flag, but he should have been ejected anyway (see “b” above).
I’m not sure what the SEC’s response to all of this is. I’m not sure if the refs will call it closer in Bryant-Denny.
I am sure we have to play this beast in ten days, so our OL had better grow some big ones.

So we should all just sit by and let Auburn openly cheat in the name of winning games? No one should say anything so we don’t sound like we are “whining” or being “little bit#%*”…
Whatever, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Sad thing is, I don’t think UGA was better than Auburn this year and they really didn’t have to cheat to beat us. No one can defy the rules of the game for so long and for so out in the open without getting retribution.

I doubt it 3rdn8… I’m 100% convinced the refs do little things to help protect the SEC undfeated BCS candidate teams. Year after year it happens. You guys are going to have to straight up beat the dirty Tigers to win the game. ANY close calls will go Auburn’s way.

No doubt Bama will have it’s hands full with Auburn. But Auburn –to explain it the way they would– “aint that good on the road” And that’s true. The AU road games have been at Ms State, Ole Miss, and Kaintucky –all tiny, cute stadium environments of about 55k fans who assume their team will lose. Bryant-Denny and 101,000 loud, expressive Bama fans is a different world for the Barners. The 12th man will make a difference on Nov. 26.

AU-UGA replay followup.
If I were an UGA fan, I’d be feeling a bit better about my program right now. I saw a UGA defense flying to the ball all day, and Murray is the best RS Freshman QB in the conference…….plus he is tough as nails.
That game hinged on two, or three plays in the fourth quarter. AU made those plays, but they’ve been making those plays all year.
I don’t know if Richt stays or goes, but am guessing 2011 will be a much better season in Athens…either way.

LSU in the Sugar makes for good TV – TCU would be blown out since they are a fraud like Utah, BSU and Oregon and Les Miles would love sending his defense again against The Ohio State University. The D is starting to score more points than the O. He made them look like children a few years ago when he won the Crystal and they deserve the chance to look out of place again.

It’s obvious that there’s one Auburn fan with no life and no job who’s posting on these blogs. Here you go Auburn fan, I’ll explain it to you because I know you’re too dumb to figure this out on your own. Fairley’s late hits> where he lifts the quarterback’s legs out from under him and drives him into the ground is some of the dirtiest football I’ve ever seen played. Newsflash: It ain’t hard to do what Fairley is doing> Fairley thinks he’s found some new thing, which is to late the quarterback and try in injure him. Thing is, geniuses, no other defender in college football player does that. Why? Because those guys tend to respect one another, a fellow football player, and really don’t want to see anyone hurt. And also b/c what comes around goes around, the unwritten rule. You just don’t see players trying to hurt each other. What is remarkable, in Fairley’s case, Auburn fans and this moron think he’s doing something special. It’s so easy for any defender to hit a quarterback late and take their legs out and drive him into the ground. Why don’t they just do that all the time? Like I’ve already said, you just don’t see players do that. Players generally respect each other too much to do that. Fairley is a raging idiot, and other defenders in the league just look at him and shake their heads. So just to clue you in, Auburn fan, your player is dirty and he’s not doing anything extraordinary. Just b/c he knows how to body splash a redshirt freshman quarterback on a late hit is nothing special. Dawgfans know this. And, I’ll tell you, that we as fans would not put up with a player like that. Georgia football isn’t played that way. We’ve had some great defensive players, Pollack, Greg Blue, Thomas Davis, some of the meanest players you’ll ever watch. But did they ever do what this idiot does? No. They were dominant players and didn’t have to stoop that low to get a reaction. Your player does it and you morons just cheer on. It’s nothing special. It’s nothing new. It’s not hard to do. Get over yourselves. Fairley will get his one day, and when he does, he deserves it. And, I hope it’s in the Bama game coming up. ROLL TIDE

Check out a guy named Milton McGregor … owner of Macon County Greyhound Park. HUGE and VERY wealthy Auburn alum … game $1 million in 2008 for bb arena … invested $16 million in Bobby Lowder’s bank before it went belly up.
McGregor and ten other people were arrested in Alabama on 10/4/2010 by the FBI in a massive bribing scandal. This is where, apparantly, the FBI overheard McGregor and others discussing paying for Newton (and perhaps other Auburn palyers).
This is the motherlode!! Please do some homework on this today and give us more details tomorrow. Bye, Bye Auburn!!!

Show me in the rule book where it says not to do what fairley is doing…ie the tackling…not the late hit..we have ALL clarified auburn fans and any fan that that hit is not acceptable at all..and I’ll move along…but good luck b/c its not illegal in college football right now..and again..you dont want him to tear your QB up..stop him…he blow your OL up all night…and you had to go to dirty football with chop blocks…get over yourself..and its pathetic you cheer for another team b/c you got whooped up on..P A T H E T I C

In 2011, the US Department of Justice will formalize

known as the BCS.
And, then we can finally put Barnhart out to pasture where he beliongs.
