The Fearless Friday Forecast: Bama, Dawgs, and Jackets win

The Fearless Friday Forecast as we reach the midway point of the 2010 season (Man, that was fast!)

1. Alabama at South Carolina: South Carolina has never beaten the No. 1 team in the nation. ESPN’s College Game Day will be there. The game will be nationally televised on CBS. It’s certainly the biggest game in Steve Spurrier’s six years in Columbia. Some games are tough to break down. This one is not.  If South Carolina can slow down the running game just a little bit, the Gamecocks have a chance to put some pressure on Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy.  If McElroy, who had two interceptions against Arkansas, has an off day the Gamecocks have a shot.  There is a reason McElroy is undefeated as a starting quarterback. He knows how to win these kinds of games. Alabama 24, South Carolina 10.

2. Tennessee at Georgia: Let’s dub this one the “Desperation Bowl.” Both teams really need a win after very tough losses last week. I’m not sure how Georgia’s team is going to respond–if they respond at all–after four straight losses. I’m not sure if Tennessee is completely over last week’s crazy loss to LSU. Georgia gets the edge at home and wins with a Blair Walsh field goal at the buzzer. Georgia 17, Tennessee 14.

3. Virginia at Georgia Tech: Georgia Tech is very much a work in progress and will need to tighten up in several areas in order to beat the Cavaliers. The Yellow Jackets have to get pressure on Virginia quarterback Mark Verica and make him uncomfortable. They will. Georgia Tech 24, Virginia 14.

4. LSU at Florida: The Les Miles Traveling High Wire and Mass Confusion Show makes an appearance at The Swamp, where the Gators are still smarting from a beat down at Alabama last week. This is going to be a very ugly football game because neither team really has a coherent offense.  Florida is average. LSU is awful. LSU will be in this game all the way because the Tiger defense is so good. It will be a low scoring game because both coaches know their offense can lose the game and will thus be very conservative. Florida wins the game when LSU mismanages the clock and fails to kick a potential winning field goal. Florida 14 LSU 13.

5. Auburn at Kentucky: After a quality scrimmage last week against Louisiana-Monroe, Auburn starts a string of four straight SEC games against Kentucky, Arkansas, LSU, and Ole Miss. The Tigers have a rising star in quarterback Cameron Newton, the nation’s No. 2 most efficient passer. But it is the Auburn defense that is really exceeding expectations and will force three Kentucky turnovers. Auburn 35, Kentucky 24.

6. Florida State at Miami: It comes down to quarterback play. Jacory Harris of Miami makes big plays but he tends to throw interceptions. He has eight in only 119 passing attempts. Florida State’s Christian Ponder has only three interceptions in 129 attempts. It is tempting to go with Florida State because the Seminoles lead the nation with 25 quarterback sacks. But I just like Miami at home. Miami 24, Florida State 20.

7.  Clemson at North Carolina: Both teams have lost a conference game and so both need a win in order to stay competitive in their respective divisions. I just think that with all of the issues going on at North Carolina (five defensive starters are still out due to various investigations) the Tar Heels don’t have enough steam to beat a pretty good team like Clemson. Clemson 27, North Carolina 21.

8. Michigan State at Michigan:  Coach Mark Dantonio had a mild heart attack after Michigan State’s win over Notre Dame on Sept. 25 and was in a hospital bed for last week’s big win over Wisconsin. He returns and will coach in the press box at Michigan, who has the Heisman Trophy frontrunner in quarterback Denard Robinson. Robinson has been unstoppable this season and is just 95 yards away from the 1,000-yard mark. This will be a shootout because the Wolverines can’t stop anybody. Michigan 38, Michigan State 35.

9. Texas A&M vs. Arkansas (Arlington, Tex.): This will be a battle of two very good quarterbacks. Ryan Mallett of Arkansas is second in the nation, averaging 359.5 yards passing per game. Texas A&M’s Jerrod Johnson has a gun for an arm but tends to throw a lot of interceptions.  He threw 62 passes in last week’s loss at Oklahoma State but had an interception to set up the winning field goal for the Cowboys. There will be at least 90 passes thrown in this game and the number could be closer to 100. The winner will be the team that can get a couple of defensive stops. That would be Arkansas.  Arkansas 42, Texas A&M 37.

10. Southern California at Stanford: USC (4-1) can’t win the Pac-10 because of NCAA probation but the Trojans can have someting to say about who does. USC  got beat at the buzzer last week by Washington and now has an opportunity to hand Stanford (4-1) it’s second Pac-10 loss of the season. The Cardinal had a 21-3 lead on Oregon last week and got beat 52-31. I just like Jim Harbaugh’s Stanford team to be tougher than the Boy Wonder who’s coaching the Trojans. Stanford 31, USC 24.

Agree with all the winners except for 2. I can’t pick UGA over UT at this point. UT has played much better lately and UGA has not. Gotta go with the Vols in this game. Also, I’m going with State over Meechigan.

Don’t think the Gators will need a gfift from The Hat to get the win…..at least I hope not.

Nothing unusual about these picks………..was surprised to see you label LSU as “awful.” Your next sentence says that their defense is great. I suppose you are referring to the coaching, both as relates to clock management and the platooning of two less than average QB’s. Actually, the Lee kid looks better than the Jefferson kid. Still, don’t know how you say LSU is “awful” when they are 5-0. From what I have seen and read, the center for LSU should be named head coach for his savvy play in snapping the ball before the clock ran out against Tennessee. Had he waited for the QB signal, the clock would have run out resulting in a delay of game penalty. Since the game CAN end on an offensive penalty, Tennessee would have won because their 13 defenders did not participate. As much as it pains me to pull for Florida, Bama needs LSU to pick up a loss because we may not be as good as folks think. Same story with SCAR – had for them to pick up second loss, but …………….

*Bama loses to Carolina-been saying this for 3 weeks
*Florida by 1 point? The Gaytors will beat LSWHO? by at least 10
*UT will out physical the Dawgs.UT will run the ball right at us all day long. UT-28 UGA-13

dawgsux how big a fool are you? Did you see the game last week? What in the world would make you think the Gators would have any better showing against Bama in the ATL? You did it again...

October 8th, 2010

…picked UGA as a blind homer. UGA still has not been able to stop UT, and Kiffin was absolutely correct when he said they knew what was coming since UGA has been doing the same things at the same time for 8 years – and Dooley is smuch smarter than Kiffin…that game in Athens 3 years ago when UGA let 31-14 at the half and then gave up 37 straight points, they have not been able to stop them since then. And last year UGA did not even get past into the red zone the whole game…

Kiffin was right, UGA never did beat him while he was coach at UT…

The other bad pick is Clemson over UNC – Clemson has NO mental toughness, none, nada, zilch – they NEVER win games against quality opponents, and usually find ways 2-4 time a year to lose to inferior opponents.

You did it again. . ., Tony’s not a blind homer. He picked Colorado over UGA last week and was one of the few I saw, other than Schultzy, to do so. He does rely a lot on those late Blair Walsh field goals for his picks, however. Somehow, unfortunately, it never seems to come out that way.

I Agree

October 8th, 2010
7:51 am

Clemson does have a deeply ingrained mental problem when playing a quality opponent — even if they are the superior team. That said, North Carolina is not a quality opponent. Clemson should win this one easily. I consider GA vs. TN a “pick-em” game. It could be close, or it could be a blowout going either way. I wouldn’t bet on this one, despite the huge spread.

Your point about UT having a tough game with UAB is noted. But they did find a way to win a close ballgame. That’s something UGA has yet to prove they can do. That’s why I have to go with them over the Dawgs. Should be a good game and I hope your Dawgs can get things going this week.
Best of luck!

Here’s the deal with UGA… Aaron Murray is getting better (not that he’s been to blame for this season), A.J. Green is back (and finally back between the hedges), and it’s not like Georgia’s been too far out of any of their games (save for one bad play against ARK, and the seeming inability to stop the Miss St ground game, the Dawgs would be 3-2). All that’s left is for the Georgia ground game to step up.

The Dawgs will break out against someone. Maybe it’s Tennessee, maybe Vandy. We’re not too far (Lord willing) from seeing this Georgia team realize that they actually can play ball.

CMR’s contract, courtesy of Tim Tucker:

Richt’s contract — most recently amended in 2008 — runs through the 2013 season and pays him at least $2.9 million per year. That includes five sources of annual compensation: $378,000 in base salary, $1.12 million for radio and TV shows, $140,000 for operating a football camp, $742,000 for equipment endorsement efforts and $520,000 per year in longevity bonuses that would be payable at the end of the contract. The contract also includes incentive bonuses based on team performance.

The contract’s buyout provisions, which would determine the amount of money UGA would owe Richt if it fired him without cause, are complex.
For starters, he would be owed his full compensation during the first six months after notice of termination, except the portion attributed to operating a camp. Then, for the rest of the calendar year during which the termination became effective, he would be entitled to all five sources of compensation.
For each subsequent full calendar year left on the contract after that, Richt would be paid only — the word “only” is underlined in the contract — an amount equal to his base salary and equipment endorsement income.
According to calculations by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Richt would be owed approximately $5 million if he were to be dismissed shortly after this season.
That figure does not include longevity bonuses Richt would be due for years previously worked.
Under terms of his 2008 contract amendment, Richt will be due a longevity bonus of $3.12 million by Jan. 30, 2014, if he completes the contract. That would amount to $520,000 per season since the start of ‘08.
If he is dismissed without cause before the end of the contract, Richt would receive a portion of the longevity bonus based on seasons worked since the start of ‘08. According to the amended contract, the longevity bonus due Richt if he is terminated without cause would be $420,000 for each completed season (prorated for partial seasons) since the start of ‘08, plus an additional $600,000.

If the contract were terminated by UGA after this season, the longevity bonus due Richt would be $1.86 million, compared to the $3.12 million bonus he would receive for completing the deal.

I don’t think any objective person can say we will beat Tennessee this weekend. We have not demonstrated an ability to beat anyone yet. Tennessee should have beaten LSU, AT LSU no less. We couldn’t even win at Colorado. People seem to assume that Tennessee will be down in the dumps from last weekend. They could just as easily be severely pizzed off and ready to take out their frustrations on the SEC’s latest whipping boy, UGA. Tennessee looks much more physical than us. They’ll pop us in the mouth and we’ll fold. Tennessee will simply want the win more than UGA.

Bama at Darth Visor’s lair – At the begining of the year I pointed to this game as one that would upset Bama. Bama is riding high, coming off a monster beating of Florida (thank you for that by the way). So all signs are pointing to an upset. Nah…. USC’s O-line will look like UGA’s on Saturday. Bama wins again.

UVA at GaTech – This one is interesting because Tech’s DC, Al Groh, was UVA’s head coach last year. I don’t know much about UVA, but the general consensus is they stink worse than Tech. Tech wins.

LSU at Florida – Holy smoly is Les Miles the luckiest guy on the planet or what? And he’s going to still start Jefferson….what!? The biggest idiot in the SEC continues to have games handed to him by the lords of football. I think Richt needs to call up Miles and see how many chickens he needs to sacrifice or whatever to get some of that luck our way. WTH, why should his luck stop now? LSU wins, and probably in some way we’ve never seen before.

Auburn at Kentucky – Kentucky wont be able to stop Newton. Big cats win.

FSU at Miami – One day we’ll tell our grandkids that this game used to be huge. Of course, I guess we’ll say the same about UGA/UT. Anyways, I saw a stat the other day where Harris has 8 int’s with 120 attempts and Ponder has 3 int’s with 140 attempts, or something close to it. That was all it took for me, Free Shoes gets it done.

Michigan St at Michigan – It’s tempting to go with MSU here, but Michigan is rolling on offense. Even if their QB goes down, they have 2 others that can do the job. Michigan wins, though I’ll be rooting for MSU and their head coach. What has two thumbs and passes up a pacemaker operation to go to a football game? That guy.

USC at Stanford – Stanford wins by sure will of the entire nation (excluding USC fans of course).

Arkansas vs Texas A&M – UGA beat A&M last year. Arkansas beat A&M last year. No reason for the trend to not be continued. Arkansas prevails.

football coach’s are like any business, you get what you pay for.Saban was a good investment. Richt HAS been, compared to where we were. Take the Buffalo Bill hiring Gailey.
If that guy really cared about winning, he would have lured Bill Cowher for 8-10 mil per, something he couldn’t turn down. Instead, he hired a care taker for 1.5 mil per, and he’ll get 1.5 mil worth of results.

I have always been a proponent of the philosophy that you play the way you practice.

“If Monday and Tuesday are any indication of the way we have responded to a 1-4 start,” McGarity said, “I think all of our fans and supporters would feel very good about things heading forward to this weekend.”

Hopefully, the Dawgs lose that 1st quarter funk they seem to obitually have and come out and “punch ‘em in the face”.

Well, there’s a reason UGA is an 11 or 13 point or whatever it is favorite, and it’s not just because the oddsmakers want to level bets on both sides. Tennessee is at a severe deficit of talent right now. If it comes down to a one-play game, Georgia’s in trouble. I don’t really think it will, though. Dawgs win 27-9.

C’mon Tony – LSU’s “Great” defense?? They let the weakest UT team in recent memory hang close enough to win at the end (sad they couldn’t count to 11) but don’t be fooled by that thumping by Bama. The Gators may not be able to be Bama in Tuscaloosa, but they sure can beat the Bayou Bungles in Gatorville.

As far as the VOLS – DAWGS, I agree with some who are claiming it’s a “pick ‘em” game – VOLS still have yet to put together a complete game against an average team (UT Martin does not count), and the Dawgies are still trying to figure out who they are this year. 11 point spread is a JOKE – but I agree Dawgs have a kicking game advantage with the VOLS depending on the kicking of a freshman (Palardy.)

UT-UGA is only a desperation game for the Dawgs. If either team in Neyland South feels the pressure of a must win, it’s Georgia. With Alabama and USCe still looming in October, CDD’s options are narrowing down to nil and none for an October surprise before Vandy and Kentucky. We Atop Rocky expected this kind of season. Those around Athensville and college football didn’t expect UGA to be 1-4 at this point. All variables point to UGA winning, but like Mr CFB has a hard time picking against his Dawgs (he’s 2-3 with his Dawg picks I think), I too will not predict a Tennessee loss in my score prediction ( Hey, I’m 2-3 with Tennessee also )… UT 23 UGA 22 … GBO

cantondawg, it’s more than that. Yes, UGA has talent. Problem is that many other SEC schools come up with top five recruiting classes year after year. The UGA kids don’t seem to be developing at the pace they need to be since Saban, Meyer, and even Petrino took over. The coaching they were getting was plenty to compete for SEC titles up until a few short years ago. The problem is that now you have a point of reference to compare to.

It’s kinda like the old couple I heard about. One day the wife gets up out of the blue and smacks the husband right across the chops. “Why’d you do that?” he asked. She said, “That was for bad bed lovin’ for the last forty years.”

A couple days later, the husband returned the favor, smacking the wife out of the blue. When she asked why he said “That’s for finding out the difference.”

Until the better coaches came around, Richt’s mediocre development programs were enough. Now recruits, fans, and media can see the difference and his program is being exposed for what it is. Poor discipline and individual player development.

From this morning’s AJC

The coach’s contract

At the beginning of the season I had picked South Carolina as the most likely game where we get upset. But after playing well against UF and watching AU shred the Carolina D for 334 rushing yards I’m now convinced that we pummel them 27-10.

Florida wins over LSU 20-13 or worse. I just can’t see LSU winning this game at all. Why? Jordan Jefferson passing for less than 100 yds a game going against the best secondary in the country. UF leads the nation with 13 ints, several with good returns. Maybe UF hasn’t worked out all their kinks offensively but they can certainly pass the ball better than Jefferson and that to me is the difference. Both have great defenses so they just offset each other.

UGA-UT-Not really a desperation game for UT since Dooley gets a mulligan in his 1st year. Every game is desperation for Richt so I think UT comes in playing more loose and UGA will be a little tighter. UGA has much better talent on paper but UT definitely has a mental edge from last year and from having blown out UGA several times lately. I like UGA to win a very close game but UT should definitely cover what was almost a 2 td point spread. And while I pick UGA to win a vol win wouldn’t really surprise me at all.

AU- tigers get some payback and run wild on the mildcats defense.

PMC, Yes I think Sparty goes to party in Ann Arbor. This is Michgian’s first real test this year again a Spartan D that has played a couple of decent offenses in Wisconsin and ND. I think they figure out Robinson and limit him to 250 yards of offense. 150 on the ground another 100 in the air. Thing with Robinson is the same thing with Cam Newton, they both take a pounding each week.

Is that 15 seniors the dawgs lose overall which is less than normal graduation attrition on an 85 man team or 15 senior starters which is a much bigger blow? I think everybody normally loses around 20 seniors a year due to graduation.

You guys dismissing LSU’s D clearly have not seen them play. They are big, fast, and mean. They cause turnovers, sack the QB, and gang tackle. They’re all over the field. Drake Nevis, Kelvin Sheppard, and Patrick Peterson are the backbone of this D and are some of the best players at their position in the SEC.

This LSU Defense is every bit as good as Bama’s D. LSU is 2nd in the league in scoring defense and 1st in yards allowed and are only allowing 75 rushing yards per game. 16 sacks so far this season and 6 Int’s. Florida runs a spread offense with a pro-style QB. LSU’s speed can more than handle UF’s while the Secondary will have no problems matching up with Florida’s unimposing receivers.

The problem for LSU is as mentioned the passing offense. Nobody mentions that Steven Ridley is leading the SEC in rushing…LSU averages almost 200 ypg on the ground. The offensive line, while not great has been servicable. Lee was clearly a spark for this passing attack last week so UF will at have to respect it a little. LSU still has the best threesome at WR in the SEC. Just get them the dang ball!!!

All in all, this WILL BE A CLOSE GAME. UF’s offense is stagnant. Les Miles wont make the same mistake two games in a row. Anyone remember the LSU/Arkansas game last year? Yeah, the two minute drive to win the game was a thing of beauty!!

If LSU can get two good TD scoring drives and a field goal or two, they’ll have a great chance of winning this game. Mark it down, the winner will not score more than 24 points.

Geaux Tigers!

Oh and remember last year’s LSU UF game. UF’s offense was much better than years, LSU defense was also in the 1st year of Chavis’ system and not as good as they are this year. Last years score was only 13-3.

So someone please explain to me how in the world you could think UF scores 34???? they couldn’t even get 1 TD against Bama….

You do realize that LSU has only allowed a total of 62 points this year, right? And that UF is just as inept on Offense as LSU is? Also, UF couldn’t even find the endzone last week against a D that isn’t much better than LSU’s, if at all. LSU’s D is nasty! You might want to pay attention to games before making dumb predictions like that.

The Florida- LSU game on paper looks like the Auburn -MSU score from a couple of years ago.
3-0, however you know this is the SEC. But it will be a low scoring game, with 2 good defenses.
The question is : How does Florida rebound after Alabama exposed the flaws and weakness that is UF’s offense. LSU in an upset- 14-13

Alabama at USC…this is the toughest game of the big 3 for Alabama. In one closer than many think. Alabama 30- USC 21

Tennessee at UGA. Where to start. Tennessee in a bad late loss in Baton Rouge, do they have anything left in the tank? UGA, and even worse loss to Colorado. Richt needs to win, Dooley wants to win. Which team shows up for UGA is the question. If UGA falls in this one, I do not care what the talking heads say, Richt will be fired or step down. Does that happen? Na.
UGA 35-Tenn 17

GT 38 Virginia 20
Michigan St. 42 Michigan 38
Florida St. 42 Miami 38

Lee and Jefferson can’t pass at all. TN has absolutely no pass rush, and still caused three completely unforced interceptions. Floria’s secondary will eat them alive. I predict at least 1 interception return for a touchdown and Meyer WILL NOT kick to Peterson….

Other than the first play of scrimmage where Jefferson went 83 yards; LSU’s offense did very little…Trust me, Florida will cover 6 1/2 all day long

Geaux Tigers, your 5-0 record and defensive stats are nothing more than a product of the schedule. LSU has allowed 62 points vs. a schedule of: UNC(85th offensively), MSU(41st), Vandy(115th), WVU(87th), and Tenn(67th).

Not going to pretend that Bama has played a bunch of world beaters, but we have allowed 45 points (9pg) vs. a schedule of: SJS(110th), Penn St.(56th), Duke(29th), Arky(48th), and Fla(62nd).

Point is that your defense hasn’t really been tested against any kind of big time offense. WVU scored 14 off LSU’s D… and managed all of 24 points against mighty Marshall. Florida’s offensive stats ain’t great, but I like Brantley to get more done than either of the two chuckleheads the Hat will put under center.

He claims to root for Auburn, fires off 25 posts a page, quotes ESPN as the gospel when they say anything remotely positive about Auburn but trashes them for paying Bama so much attention, quotes stats erroneously, uses off the wall terms like NFL “recruiting” that prove ignorance about the game, claims Auburn to have NCAA records they don’t have, calls people childish names like “little girl” and “‘tard”, claims all Bama fans live in trailers (have you SEEN Lee County?), etc. Dude is totally clueless about this game we all love, almost a certainty he’s never suited up for a game a day in his life (maybe for soccer). Is what it is.

Tony the only predictable thing this weekend is you. You pick against South Carolina and for Georgia. South Carolina has never beaten a number one team but Steve Spurrier has and Tony kind of knows that. Playing in Columbia. Alabama is as good as they have ever been in this time of parity, but parity is the key. And with that parity little things like coaching and home court advantage make a difference. I totally miss the boat last week and my boy TB was right on all ACC picks, but Tony is not in love with ACC teams and sees clearer than I do on the subject. The blind spots are Georgia and Steve Spurrier.

On Georgia you don’t think Vince has schooled his boy on how to beat Georgia? And you don’t think Vince knows what they need to do to beat Ga? Tennessee will beat Ga., they will get over the LSU game because it is Ga, very fast. I do believe Fla. beats LSU but that is any body’s guess on who is really playing that day.

Get ready for boooos from the faithful between the hedges as UGA finds another way to lose, probably an undiciplined-style celbration penalty after scoring the second to last TD/FG of the game…CMR or Bobo pls call some dynamic plays when we have the ball, there’s a zillion plays out there, why do we call the same 10 plays all year long? Want to save your job Richt? Why don’t you try giving a player a hi five or smiling or showing some friging excitement on good plays, 3rd down, 3 and outs, opponents turnovers, long feildgoals, great catches, long runs, anyting……instead of worrying about your butt-cut blowing in the wind. I think you’re spot-on about Bama winning, but you have mis-diagnosed the reason why SCarolina loses. It won’t be because of Bama’s qb knowing how to win, but because SC’s HBC doesn’t have the patience to win with the running game. He’ll want to throw it 76 times as if he were still qb at Fla, instead of relying on a solid RB and offensive line to win it on the ground.

College football is out of control

October 8th, 2010

Many years ago colleges and universities indexed the salaries of their football coaches to the highest paid faculty member. If we did this with the bible thumping Richt he would have to give over two million dollars back to the university where it could be spent on academics which believe it or not is why we have universities. (And given his performance lately who could argue otherwise?)

If the yahoos who spend half their lives following this dumb sport cared about education a fraction as much the South would be much better off instead of having the worst schools from top to bottom (excepting my school of Emory and also Vanderbilt.)

How many of you are attending the next tea party rally or listening to Beck’s “history lessons.” Something makes me think that there is considerable overlap.

If Georgia Loses Today…the following will happen…bank it:

Booing will be very loud in the Stadium
The Recruiting Class will be minus several key signees in February
Mark Richt will resign or iniate his departure buyout.
The laughter you will be hearing is from every other school in the SEC.
These blogs will BLOW UP!

Florida will be in for a rude awakening today, as bad as LSU is on offense, they are that good on defense. Florida will need to change their entire way of running their offense. Steve Addazio is not the answer to the Post Mullen experiment. Since Mullen left this offense is predictable.

Al Groh wants to embarrass Virginia for his dismissal, and GT needs to show they can play offense and defense for 60 minutes.

Florida State needs to make a statement against Miami, if they do not, this will get ugly. FSU can beat Miami if they learn to be more discipline on defense and stop taking so many chances. The winner of this game is the team with the fewest penalties.

Michigan St. needs Dantoni o on that wall, you want him on that wall, and Michigan may be exposed today as one dimensional and lacking any defense, The best defense wins today.

Alabama had a hard time last year in Tuscaloosa with USC, but this running back took over the game and it started his Heisman run. This years version of the Crimson Tide is much better on offense, but playing in Columbia is always tough. Alabama wins in a very very close game.

Today Today Today…the day many answers will be revealed about UGA, and many other teams…how does Auburn perform on a rare Road Game in the SEC? A loss in Lexington will make the next three games alot tougher for the Tigers…..

A Georgia loss today will not be as dramatic as you believe. Anyone who hasn’t already figured out just how bad this Goergia team is has no business posting on a football blog.

LSU is good on defense — they aren’t great. Hat trick fails today.

Al who?

FSU vs Miami = Who Cares?

“Michigan may be exposed today as one dimensional and lacking any defense” Duh??? How many times will that be “exposed” this year? This certainly won’t be the first exposure.

“Alabama had a hard time last year in Tuscaloosa with USC” A 20-6 victory now qualifies as a “hard time”? Interesting.

Auburn’s upcoming games are tough enough, regardless of how they fare against the mildcats. Today’s game means little more than nothing — Kentucky has already been exposed as a less than mediocre football program. That shouldn’t make much news in the SEC.

USC had an off week and this the 3rd in a row top 20 game for Alabama…

Michigan has had a cake walk and had to go the extra mile last week to win and still gave up 30…this MSU team is better and if they slow down the outside threat it will be a long day for RichRod. once again you are clueless…

Tennessee is probably quitting, and ending their season right now. They stunk the joint out royally, after giving away the game last week to Lessie “Duh” Miles. Don’t mind seeing a Doodley boy get his face kicked in either.
South Carolina got the biggest win in the history of the program. They played an almost perfect game. Amazing take down of Bama.
UNCheat takes out the Tiggers. Kind of surprised, but Clempsun always seems to do this.
Michigan is much improved, but still has no defense at all.
Tech rolls up 500+ yards, and runs all over Uva. Must work on ball security, because there would’ve been at least 50 points.
Penn State stinks.

At this point, I’d say Ohio State/Oregon for the national title. Rematch of last year’s Rose Bowl.

Hey Tony are you tired of picking against LSU yet? Have you ever picked LSU to win an SEC game? Other than a laffer. We lead the SEC in winning percentage for the last decade. Miles is 22 and 11 against the top 20. 3 and 3 against Urban. Are you guys finished worshipping Bama as the greatest college football team ever? They are very good not great. They have 9 new starters on defense. If you can stop the run the QB is vulnerable. Saban is great. He cannot win every week in the SEC on his genius. Ridley sure does look better then Mr Heisman, Ingram. He is also running in an offense that is/was a lot more limited. If we figure out how to play QB we have a very high potential.

If you have any sense at all you know you did not kick the $hit out of the chickens. You got very lucky because WE screwed up. You almost lost to Kentucky. Auburn fans are usually cool. You break the mold. Just wait til Bama beast you down.

War Damn Eagle, for a team that BARELY beat the high and mighty Kentucky Wildcats, you make yourself look like an idiot for boasting about your team.

We’ll see how good the Plainsmen are after they play Arkansas and LSU the next 2 weeks.

No, we beat SC on good defense and great offense.

How does a team “beast” us down?

“for a team that BARELY beat the high and mighty Kentucky Wildcats, you make yourself look like an idiot for boasting about your team.”

LSU, Bama, Arkansas etc have all “barely” escaped losses this season.

Like I tell all inbred retards. Go sell stupid somewhere else, ma’am.

I’ve been tellling Tony for months, Saban’s a clown. Saban’s the human yo-yo of inconsistency, up one year, down the next. I’ve been telling Tony the 6 teams coming off a bye, all with 2 weeks to study film, and get better physically, is a nightmare for Nick Saban. I’ve been telling Tony that so few people repeat in the SEC as National Champs.

Nice to be right. Even if I’m not Mr. College Football, maybe I’m Mr. Coolege Football Jr.

I was right about Brantley and Florida too.

Alabama will lose AT LEAST 3 games.

Tony, I don’t know how anyone has ever considered you an expert. If I was as bad at my job as you are at yours, I’d be fired by Tuesday.

We all acknowledge we have won close games. But give me proof of a single LSU fan that bragged about beating Tenn on here last week like you have after beating a UK that was stomped by Florida and beaten by lowly Ole Miss.

It’s clear you are the one that is stupid.

Congratulations to South Carolina for a very good win. USC, with Garcia made some great throws to a great WR in Jeffries. Jeffries is a hoss. Spurrier had his team ready to play. With an off week each week in front of us by our opponents it is going to be like this every week from here on out.

Georgia beat up a weak Tennessee team and with a home crowd behind the Dawgs it was a blow out early. Dooley is in for a long long season. With this win, UGA is still not out of the EAST, but then again UGA is still not a very good team either.

Auburn for three weeks in a row has pulled it out and held on for a late win. This will be the week that Auburn will take a loss at home and possibly losing three in a row. So you Auburn fans enjoy the 7 days, because by 7 p.m. the list of the beaten will have a name to add to the list. But enjoy it, enjoy it and be joyful, lets all get back together in a month an see where Auburn is then when getting ready for a Georgia team who will be looking forward to beating you once again in their annual whipping of Georgia. Then you come to T-Town where the beatings will continue. But once again for a week you have bragging rights as the undefeated team in the SEC West.

Bama lost due to bad officating and overconfidence. They will beat USc easily in a rematch in Atlanta–mark it down!

There were some bad calls and bad spots against Bama in the Arkansas game. That is not why South Carolina won. They just beat Bama straight up. It happens.

RTR!!!

Anyway… Maybe we’ll get another shot at SC in December. I still expect Bama to win every game they play.
