Nobody asked me but:
1. If Paul Johnson gets the chance, he’ll bring the hammer down on Georgia. State rivalries like Georgia and Georgia Tech are always big recruiting games. Saturday night’s game at Bobby Dodd Stadium will be no different. But in his second year at Georgia Tech, Johnson has infused the football program with confidence at a time where Georgia’s confidence is at a pretty low ebb. There is all kind of positive energy at Georgia Tech. I haven’t seen this much negative energy at Georgia since Jim Donnan’s last year (2000) as head coach. College Football 101 says that when you have your rival in a weakened position, you put your foot on the gas. If Johnson can lay a pretty good number on Georgia, he will. Georgia has enough athletic ability to make this game competitive. But I wonder if they have the heart to fight back. I really do.
2. I think Bobby Bowden will be back at Florida State next season. There is no doubt in my mind that if Florida State had lost to Maryland last week (and the Seminoles scored with 32 seconds left to win 29-26) it would have been very difficult for Bowden to make the case to return for his 35th season as the Seminoles head coach. If he loses at No. 1 Florida on Saturday, and we assume he will, Florida State will be 6-6 and heading to a bowl game. I think there will be considerable pressure for Bowden to step down but he has made it clear to those who know him well that he wants to come back and pursue a final ACC championship. Florida State has promised Bowden that it will be his decision. But this much is also clear. If Bowden comes back, the 2010 season will be his last at Florida State. Everybody understands that.
3. I think Bob Stoops will at least listen to Notre Dame. On the surface, it appears silly to think that Stoops would entertain the thought of another college job. He has one of the best franchises in the sport as the head coach at Oklahoma But the profession has changed. After a coach has been in one place for 11 years (he is 114-29 with seven New Year’s Day or BCS bowls) his support starts to sag unless he’s winning the conference championship every year. It’s been a tough year at Oklahoma, which lost QB Sam Bradford and TE Jermaine Gresham early in the season and has not been the same ever since. Fans become unrealistic and don’t believe the program should ever have a down year. Stoops is a native of Ohio and so he knows the territory. Notre Dame needs a strong personality and a proven winner on the college level. Maybe Stoops, 49, has one more move left in him.
4. Look for Colt McCoy to put up some pretty big numbers against Texas A&M. The Texas quarterback has put himself in position to win the Heisman Trophy with some good games against some pretty weak teams (Baylor, Kansas). The Longhorns get another struggling team when they go to Texas A&M (6-5) on Thanksgiving night. Next week Texas plays Nebraska in the Big 12 championship game. Nebraska coach Bo Pelini has a very good defensive scheme against spread attacks so McCoy probably won’t put up huge numbers against the Cornhuskers. McCoy and Texas will be the only college football game on Thursday night and a lot of Heisman Trophy voters will be watching. Texas will turn McCoy loose and give him a chance to make his move.
5. Rich Brooks should get some votes for SEC Coach of the Year. With a win over Tennessee on Saturday in Lexington, Kentucky will finish 8-4 and in second place in the SEC East. That should be good enough to get the Wildcats into the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day. When Kentucky quarterback Mike Hartline went down with an injury on Oct. 10, Kentucky was 2-3 and it appeared the Wildcats would stumble towards the finish line. But Brooks elected to take the redshirt off quarterback Morgan Newton and, after a few games, the offense actually got better. Now Kentucky has won five of its last six. Kentucky began playing football in 1888. In all that time no coach—not even Bear Bryant—has taken the Wildcats to four straight bowl games. This will be Kentucky’s fourth consecutive bowl (they have won the previous three) under Brooks.

No need to rehash a year’s worth of UGA/Tech talk…UK cannot beat UTK…First, KY is not that good. Yes they beat UGA, but only because UGA gave it to them. UK had very little yardage against a poor defense in UGA, and UT actually has a real Defense. Offense is a swing, but D will win this for UTK.

Tech Fans,
Not to detract from your impending victory over UGA but, ESPN rates your three SEC opponents (Miss St, Vandy, and Georgia) as the three worst teams in the conference.
With that said, I hope Tech wins by 40.

yes, virginia, there still is a santa claus.
no, you dumb mark ray donnan koolaide drinkers, there is not a snowballs chance in hades of the dawgs winning this game saturday. in fact, this game should be labeled NC17 and the women and children shouldn’t be admitted. we are going to get our arses handed to us in every way.
we let kentucky come back from a 13 point deficit. that screams of lack of motivation and intensity. by all rights, we should have played at the same level and won that game 40-12. but we wont….not with mark ray donnan and his cast of YMCA saturday youth football league coaches on the sidelines. Georgia needs a real coach who gives a crap about winning…..not building houses on lake hartwell and making excuses for the fans….
“ooh…it took vince dooley 10+ years to win an SEC championship…it only took me one….you people should be thankful.” Uh, mark ray….it took Urban Meyer 2 years to win a NC….you aint got none. give me a freaking break.
it’s gonna get real ugly for the next three years. batten down the hatches uga fans…….

…I’m a Tech fan but you have got it wrong on your comment about the Vegas line…
…Vegas doesn’t set lines to entice betting on one side of the bet (you state the 7 point line is to entice Tech fans expecting a blowout to place bets)…
…oddsmakers set betting lines in the ultimate hope that they can equalize betting on BOTH SIDES of the bet…the line is adjusted up or down in an attempt to equalize betting on both sides as gametime approaches…THEN AND ONLY THEN does Vegas not care about the outcome of the game…they get their juice either way…if they have set a line that has encourage heavy betting on one side or the other, you can bet your sweet a** that Vegas very much cares about the outcome…

PhD,
We are saying the same thing. The line is set at seven because there is already enough action on the under. (Obviously, they wouldn’t know for sure before setting the line but, based on historical data, they can estimate there will be an imbalance towards the under.) They are looking for equality by enticing people to bet the over.
The bookmakers want the outcome that benefits them most. They, collectively, don’t care who wins any game.

Tebow Delivers Pizza to Matt Stafford's House Rumor
November 25th, 2009
1:42 pm
I heard Tebow plans to go to work after college delivering pizza in his truck, since Mel Kiper says No NFL has the slightest interest in Timmy Tebow’s “QB Skills”.
Tebow plans to wear a Spuerman cape, use his heisman as a hood ornament to impress everybody, and then give a speech at the door:
“You have never seen ayone deliver a pizza faster, drive better, or smell gooder, God Bless America”
Rumor has it, Stafford owns the Pizza delivery company, the truck dealdership where Tebow bought his truck, and an extra house in Florida where Tebow did the delivery.
So much for working hard for Meyer for 4 years in his High School offense.
Tebow’s future goals include being promoted to assistant pizza delivery guy and making $7 an hour.

Ahh.. Tony and Bark Madly are doing their best to stir up some emotion in the Dawgs. As someone said early, “very transparent”. You really need some work on your stealtn. You’re doing your best to get the Dawgs stirred up though, so I’ll give you credit for that. You guys are about as stealthy as Buck Belue. I think Tech will cover and putting the “hammer down” as you say would be nice, but don’t see it realistically.

If Bowden returns…to even more thousands of empty seats in Doak Walker Field, and recruiting continues to slide due to the uncertainy surrounding the program. Despite the public statements of support, some people will have the Big Talk with Coach. He will then walk away on “his own terms.”
That, of course is a guess, but I find it hard to see it any other way.

I agree with Tony’s assessments!
1. Tech’s hobnail boots will be firmly planted in UGA’s neck at the end of the game, and sugar will not be falling from the sky! Call it GT 52, UGA 24. UGA could win, but only if they play their most error-free game of the year, and that’s not likely. It will be fun to watch the sea of red and black fleeing from Grant Field in the third quarter!
2. Bobby Bowden will indeed return to FSU for one more season. He should bow out gracefully now, but he wants one more season and a shot at the ACC title, so he can go out a winner. He’s just deluding himself, it ain’t gonna happen. After retiring, he will work for the Florida corrections department as a parole officer and part-time recruiter for the Criminoles.
3. Bob Stoops will appear to be listening to Notre Dame, but it’s only a ploy to get a big contract extension at Oklahoma. Why would anyone want to coach at ND? Okay okay, it’s the money and the prestige, but it’s a thankless job, as a succession of coaches like Charlie Weiss have found out.
4. Colt McCoy is probably 60/40 to win the Heisman, and he probably will if he finishes strong. My own outside favorite is C.J. Spiller at Clemson, but quarterbacks usually win.
5. Rich Brooks is worthy of SEC Coach of the Year, considering how much he’s done with the medium talent he has. He would also probably be the least controversial pick.

It’s fun talking about hammering UGA but I don’t think it’s a good idea. There was the same kind of talk before we played LSU last year.
If this team ignores all this B.S. and stays focused, UGA’s best won’t be enough. If Tech comes into this game expecting to win and UGA is focused, Tech could lose.
The whole HC in waiting thing is a conflict of interest for FSU. JF is purposely going to suck so he can get Bowden fired so he can become HC. Now that JF’s offense sucks, does FSU really want him as HC? FSU needs to clean shop and and find a proven HC.

If Georgia can’t prevent getting “hammered” by Georgia Tech, so be it. Talk about Bizarro World. Is this the 1950s?
Ann Bowden called it – FSU doesn’t have the nerve to send Bowden packing. It’s a shame. Bowden did a lot of great things for FSU football, but that doesn’t give him the right to oversee it’s total destruction, either. Contrary to popular belief, FSU football actually existed before Bowden. Ask Dooley – he lost to FSU in ‘65. Disgraceful what has been allowed to happen to that program. The reviled Gators have won national championships this decade because there’s no longer a viable FSU to knock them off at the end of the year.

I am gonna keep throwing this down to make the point. You don’t walk out on your team when they are still in a position to win if you really care anything at all about your team. The Dawg Nation flipped a monster bird to their team last weekend, disrespected them while they still had time on the clock and an opportunity to tie or even win. That is crazy!
That will hang in the minds of all the Pup players and rob them of that extra bit of fire they will need this weekend. You just go hide and watch Puppies… they may come out and play hard for the first couple of quarters, but when the Jackets get that offense rolling (maybe even before the first half is over) the Pups will tuck their tails and it will get ugly.
The only thing really in question is how long the Puppy fans will stay in their seats once things start heading south for their team.
