VA Tech falls to the Tar Heels?

Really?

What is it about ACC teams that makes them wither under pressure whenever they get ranked? Last year it was Clemson. This year it's been Miami, then VA Tech. Will GA Tech be next?

Why do you call yourself Mr. College Football when you cannot see the best backs in the country are right down the street from your office. You expect the GT fans to swallow this Koolaid you passout in this newspaper every week. And now you are talking about C J Spiller. Well did you see Anthony Allen run over people this week like he does every week or Dwyer blocking when he isn't scoring? Of course not..your livelihood depends on SEC's dominance and primarily UGA, what are you going to do when all that crumbles? Oh yeah, that's right talk about something that went on 29 years ago. After a couple of days of that, it starts to get real old.

Tony, yes, its about time C.J. Spiller of Clemson is part of the Heisman talk. It seems to me this award has become more about who you play for and less about the most valuable player. Spiller is at the top of several dozen stats that few in history can compete with, much less his contemporaries. His name should be formost in these conversations.

I don't get to see the GT games up here in Ohio but I did youtube Dwyer plowing over that UVA defender. Priceless.

Regarding the SEC; Kiffin has that 'it' factor. Same goes for Spurrier and Meyer. Why I think all 3 of those schools will be beating UGA consistently while they are still coaches - and Richt is still at UGA.

Officiating as a whole in the SEC has been terrible this year, and I am glad coaches are going public.

Tide Rising, it didn't make any difference whether the play was over or not when Cody took off his helmet. Unsportsmanlike conduct is treated as a dead ball foul whether it is during the play or after. The play is not repeated and the penalty is assessed after the play. Think about a kick returner who taunts an opposing player before he crosses the goal line for a touchdown. They don't call back the return and penalize the return team, they assess a 15 yard penalty on the ensuing kickoff. Had the officials thrown a flag on Cody, it would have been Alabama's ball first and 10 after a 15 yard penalty from the spot of the kick. But with no time on the clock there was no next play, game over.

Tide Rising

October 26th, 2009
4:35 pm

"Didn’t know Miles put the 1st team D back in with 8 seconds left in a lopsided game. I don’t want to get onto LSU too much or their fans but that’s considered by many to be kind of a classless thing to do in college football."

LSU's D dominated Auburn but Auburn drove the ball down the field with LSU's subs in( Auburn had theirs in too) and Auburn called time out to try to score. I think it is arguable that some coaches would have just let the clock run out as they had no time to run a play without stopping the clock. When Chizik did that the players asked to go back in. There was time for just one play and the ball was marked with the nose touching the goal line. I really have no problem with that and I have no problem with Chizik trying to "improve" the score.

Tide Rising : The ref in the field of play can be used in multiple fashions. Alabama may have been using him for a pick gone bad. All I know is that the ref is like a blade of grass on the field, meaning he's a part of the playing field. That Alabama receiver should have been able to shed the Zebra...The Cody helmet ripping thing doesn't mean a hill of beans to me. If Lincoln had had the leg, he wouldn't have thumped Cody with the ball. All in all, a good defensive scrum. A 12-10 loss is very respectable to what I considered the #1 team in the country until Saturday evening...
