tiger7_88,

That's pretty funny. You made a little pun by referring to Legion Field as Lesion Field, didn't you? Did they teach you that in Sociology class?

I never praised the 'tradition' of Legion Field. I never particularly liked for Bama to play there and I'm glad that Bryant-Denny now has the seating capacity to host big home games. Auburn also played their bigger home games in either Birmingham or Montgomery before Jordan-Hare stadium was enlarged.

You can spew adolescent comments to your heart's content, but you can't refute the hard facts that I have presented. Neither Alabama, nor Auburn has gained a 'home field advantage' since the neutral site concept was abandoned for the game formerly known as the Iron Bowl. Bama will kick Auburns tail again this November -- not because of where the game is played, but because Bama has a better football team than Auburn this year.

The lost tradition has nothing to do with any particular stadium. It has to do with the loss of the 50-50 ticket split and the neutral site hosting of the game. It was probably inevitable anyway, because neither Birmingham nor Montgomery currently offers a viable venue for hosting the game. Still, the fact remains that the tradition was abandoned earlier than necessary because of Auburn's whining and the record proves that Auburn didn't get what they wanted after all. They only proved my point: Excuses are for losers.

Athens doesn't want football games in Athens - haven't you been to a game in Athens lately? Heck, it's almost easier to go to a game in Jacksonville than one in Athens (and it doesn't take 7.5 hours either). I've been going to games in both locations since the 70's, graduated from UGA and have been a season ticket holder for years. I love UGA, want my kids to go to UGA but the city leaders of Athens hate football weekends and don't want us there (I'm sure they want our money but that's it). I'm sick every time I spend a dime of my money in Athens knowing how difficult they make it for us to come back, go to and enjoy a game there. Atlanta - yes they want our money too. Remember, our state, or at least the southern portion, does very well financially due to the game being in Jacksonville so not all of our money goes to the state of FL when the game is in Jax. Keep the game where it belongs - in Jax.

If Mark Richt couldn't beat the hapless Ron Zook in jacksonville, he will not be beating urban meyer very often. Ga should have moved the game, to at least give the dawgs a chance to win when the game is in athens. Now, more losses will follow in Jacksonville, a florida home game.

Tony, I don't believe for one second that the decision to keep the game in JAX was due to the Georgia fans located in South Georgia. It's ALL about the money!!!!!

david- and you beat the bottom feeders of the SEC and the directional schools, lose to the good teams, and most times beat Hawaii or a 2nd tier Big 10 team in a bowl game and VOILA! 10 wins.
