The BCS needs to go away. We need a playoff system. Then the SEC will erase all doubt in the rest of the country as to which conference is supreme.

Hey Dawg Props,

The feeling is mutual when your beloved dawg fans always run their mouths but yet, can not win a NC since 1980!

Give me a break! I mean look at it. The media along with the rest of the UGAY crowd had you guys waltzing into the NC last year without a problem.

Bottom line, as usual, GA over rated and over hyped!

Gators roll big again this year!

Enough Said!

oh ya i forgot to mention that tech beat our second string defense last year so when we have a legitimate starting defense ready, your little option is gonna get stuffed by big Jeff Owens who was #6 in the country on the workout warriors list. and for all the UF fans that say they have a better history than us remember the 1942 matchup. uga 75 uf 0 OUCH

im sick of all these gt fans trashing Georgia. the only reason they won is because our foot hurt from kicking their a$$es for the previous decade. Their so called great engineers that can't build a parking garage without it collapsing and then have the nerve to call us dumb. please everyone knowss that a uga diploma is alot more recognized than a gt diploma. The all time athletic records b/w ga and gt is not even close. so have fun being our annoying little brother and when the dawgs trash the ATL next year dont come crying to me.

Trade School Junkie, I think heeldawg is much closer to the truth than you realize, and you're underestimating UGA with healthier OL, better leadership at QB, and a more focused off season and practice mentality.

UGA could very well lose to a good Okie State team, but they may also give Okie State a lesson in old school football.

UGA won't lose to the Vols. As far as Tennessee being a surprise school, they'll be an enormous surprise, if they have a functional offense. I'm sure their defense will be good, but the defense will be fighting a losing battle in most games, and that will catch up with them, especially when Kiffen blames his strong defense for losses, just like he did with the Raiders, while his Raider offense stunk up the place worse than an Arkansas hog farm.

Speaking of which, I agree with you on Arky - I think they'll probably post a couple of upsets and certainly some exciting games. They'll look like a Big 12 team this year. A lot of offense and no defense.

If UGA's DTs are healthy when GA Tech plays them, the dive/belly (or whatever you guys call it) is gone. Fuggedabout it. And that takes away a big part of your option attack. I like your coach and think GA Tech will be a good program under him, but I wouldn't get too confident if I were you.

Finally, I expect UGA to be Florida's toughest game in the regular season. We should win, but its a rivalry and UGA has an off week ahead of it. I'm not banking it.

heeldawg:

So much delusional thinking is not healthy.

As for GT fans making bold predictions, even Mark Bradley has been saying GA will be 8-4.

GA most likely losses will be:

OKST: This one's a slamdunk. OKST is gonna crush the dawgs.

Ark: Hell, even UGA homer Barnhart is worried about this game. And to put that fact in perspective, in 2008 Barnhart predictted GA would beat BOTH Bama AND FL. Even after teh Bama "funeral," Barnhart (and msot GA fasn)STILL predicted GA would beat Florida. What a laugh.

Petrino is simply a much better gameday coach than Richt & Bobo...combined. Even with the talent level Petrino has now, this game will be close. I expect an Offensive shoot-out in this one. I think Ark has the edge, if for no other reason than GA has Martinez as DC.

FL:
While nothing is 100%, this one's as close to a 100% lock as you can find for another loss.

LSU or Tenn:
GA will likely drop one of these. Maybe not both.
As I have stated before, TEnn & Ark, will be THE surprise SEC teams this year. That being said, one of these teams is likely to knock GA off. Oddly enough, I give the nod to Tenn.

As for GT: well, since GA couldnt stop an ALL-RUSH GT Offense with "lots of season-ending injuries" and mostly Freshmen playing, I give GA very little chance to stop a HIGHLY-IMPROVED RUSH AND PASS GT Offensive attack.

So, 8-4, and perhaps even 7-5.

So, head on back over to your Kool-Aid stand.

Three hundred posts on this blog, and only about ten of them are well-thought-out, fact-based observations. The rest are just uninformed idiots spouting their emotions.

Okay, here's my take on things:

1. Hard to bet against the Gators. Defense does win championships, and they return EVERYONE from the MNC team's starting defense, including the best LB in the nation. Plus, they have a guy who may be the best leader in college football history at QB. Tebow will keep them focused--unlike Stafford for Georgia last season, who was focused on his incipient NFL career from the first snap.

2. Tennessee fans who expect the Vols to be great this season are going to be sorely disappointed. Tennessee may have the nation's best DB, and the rest of the defense will be competitive (though not at Florida's level--or at Alabama's or Georgia's, for that matter). However, the QB and WR situation is abysmal, and the offensive line may be the worst in Knoxville in years. And even the best incoming freshman running back in the country won't do much collegiately if his OL sucks and there's no effective passing game to keep folks from stacking the line. Sorry, but Lil Lane's going to post a losing record in his first season. And predicting a Vol win over Florida is a joke. The Vols might have a shot against Kentucky and South Carolina (that game might be a baseball score, like 3-2 or 7-5), but Vanderbilt will once again be better than the Vols this season, and Georgia, Alabama and Florida will trash them.

3. Always interesting to me to see the incredibly jealous Tech fans with their irrational posts predicting dire outcomes for the Dawgs (seven loss seasons, trips to the types of bowls Tech usually goes to, etc.). For a school that prides itself on its academic prowess and on slide-rule-type factual precision, Tech sure has a lot of fans who make predictions based on emotion alone. Six losses for the Dawgs? Seven losses? Let's get real: Richt averages 10 wins a season. Last year's team went 10-3 despite the most season-ending injuries (24) of any team in the school's history. Think about it--a little bit less than a third of the team's players were lost FOR THE SEASON with injuries, and the team still managed to win 10 games. Most of that team, minus Stafford and Moreno, returns. And the cupboard at the skill positions is hardly bare. Georgia is four deep at Super 11 QBs, is five deep at four-star-plus RBs, and returns AJ Green and Michael Moore (last seen catching 10 passes for ~100 yards in the Cap One Bowl) at WR--not to mention a cast of redshirt and true freshmen (Charles, Brown, Wooten) who could make an impact immediately at that position. I do agree with the concerns about an upset loss to Arkansas on the road; that game is a potential trap game, and Arky has essentially all summer to prepare for it, since their first game is against the Southwest Academy for Blind and Disabled Women or something. But Georgia will beat Oklahoma State in the season opener, will shut down Spurrier's last team at South Carolina, and will beat UT, Vandy (in a close one), UK, Auburn, ASU, Tennessee Tech and LSU (at home). I'd have to pick the Gators in Jacksonville--but it will be closer this season. And Tech? Sorry, Jacket fans, but it wasn't a lack of talent that allowed you to beat us by 3 last season. It was a failure of execution. It was two key turnovers (without which the streak would be at 8), poor tackling, poor leadership and a lack of focus. I doubt that you'll see much of any of that this year. Despite the delusions of grandeur harbored by many Tech fans after last year's outstanding 9-4 season (and I'm not being facetious--it was really was outstanding, given the level of returning talent. Gailey would have been 5-7 with that team), the Dawgs still have the dominant program in the state of Georgia, and that will be amply demonstrated on the field this season. It won't be close; Georgia will win by a double-digit margin.

4. The UF/Tebow praise notwithstanding, I think the Texas guys posting above have some good points, and I'd look for the Longhorns to win the MNC this season, beating the Gators in the BCS title game. They feel they were shafted last season (and they've got a point), and will play this year with a sense of having something to prove. Hunger goes a long way in college football.

Wow there are so many Bama haters! Alabama has a manageable schedule and has a real shot at another undefeated regular season. VT and SC will be the hardest IMO. Florida will make it to the SECCG unchallenged as will Alabama. The winner of that game will be in the NCG.

VT is the toughest regular season game Bama has and thats because VT has something to prove and Alabama could underestimate them if not careful. Ole Miss could be a threat as well as LSU but I don't think they will pull it off.

ROLL TIDE and CHOMP! Everyone else needs to run and hide!
