The SEC West could be the Big 12 South from last year. I shudder to think what that would mean for Ole Miss.

Have you ever noticed that whenever UGA loses to GT (45-42 in Athens) all the little dawgies start talking about ancient bowl games? Roddy Jones is STILL scorinhg TD’s vs. the preseason #1 pups!

I’d like some of the SEC guys to listen to themselves in their posts. When talking to Big-12 homers they always claim the difference between those two conferences is that no one in the SEC is a “doormat” or “bottom dweller.” We hear the famous “carousel” argument that dominance in the SEC rotates abotu every two years…no one usually repeats and no one stays down long. But when talking loss records against the ACC or some other conference which lacks respect they’ll devalue wins over MSU or Vandy as wins over the wimpy little SEC “doormats” or “bottom dwellers!”

So which is it, SEC fans? Does your conference claim parity or do you (like most other conferences) have a traditional top and bottom?

Now I think as an ACC fan I have to be honest and look at teams like VT, FSU, Miami and maybe Clemson or GT as the real up-and-down top half and be surprised if teams like Duke or NCSU do anything of note. And in years like 2008 when it looks a lot like the whole league is even it probably means everyone is having a poor year. Unfortunately, I have to look at last year’s post-season as the more accurate indicator of where we stand in contrast to other conferences. Hope 2009 takes the league up a rung, and makes the SEC sweat a little more. But we shall see…

Texas V Georgia, 1983 Cotton Bowl………and it is still 10 to 9 in Texas.
Texas had 17 players drafted that year. Probably still one of the best teams of all time. Georgia was not given a chance. All week, the Texas players were hounded by the press. Georgia players were not given any respect or even the time of the day.
Game day, the high was something like 28 degrees and it was a real defensive struggle, only four field goals made the score 9 to 3 for Texas. Then the miracle came, the dogs blocked a punt with a severe rush. The special teams set up the touchdown. The play by Lastinger was a pitch which had been run several times that day, but he was told not to make the pitch, but to run the ball. It was not a play even in the playbook. Touchdown Dogs, and it is still 10 to 9 in Texas.

I suggest you go look up richt’s record the past 8 years. 7 out of those 8 years, UGA has ended up ranked higher than the preseason poll prediction.

How is that underachieving?

As far as the coaching is concerned, Goff and Donnan aren’t here anymore.

Coachdawg2000, your envy of the Gators’ success is so blatantly obvious. Do you ever say anything about any team other than the dawgs that is remotely factual? Just because your beloved dawgs “screwed the pooch” in 2008 with their preseason ranking, your obvious hatred of UFapparently won’t let you accept the fact some teams are good every year. I’ve seen Tebow’s statement after the Ole Miss game many times and not once did he cry. Please post a link to your version where you think he cried.

Grow up and be a man. Right now your opinion appears to be that of a 11-year-old.

Dear Tony, I have the utmost respect for you as a columnist and analyst but my brother said he heard you tell an Atlanta radio station that “Georgia has no chance to beat Florida”. My brother is a very passionate Georgia fan, as I am, and I tried to get him to understand why you might have made those comments. If you did make those comments than you’ve never been a part of a team. October 31 is a long way from July to make those kind of comments. Help me understand the nature of those comments.
