Man are we (SC Fans) glad Jr. is y’alls problem now! After the Raiders pulled the plug on him there were ruimors he was headed back to us. (the horror) He was a twit then and he’s even more so now, you would have our sympathies but then again y’all don’t seem to have much love loss for us, so why should we care about the pain and suffering y’all are in for! To bad so sad. I have much respect for the SEC (less Les) but that hiring by y’all is gunna sting for quite some time. Hope y’all have plenty of Goodies headache powder. Fight On!!!

Well put on all points my friend!!! Long time no blog, how are the Dawgs shapin’ up? We both have several holes to fill, y’all on offense us, well ONLY THE THREE GREATEST LB’s EVER!!! Cush & Rey Rey will have monster rookie seasons! Clay will have a solid one too I suspect but not as much of an immediate impact as the other two. But don’t feel to sorry for us in that dept. Coach Carroll has the cupboard well stocked, after spring practice wrapped up he told ABC 7 (L.A.) that he felt the Defense was going to actually be “BETTER” this season than last. Last season we finished #1 D while only giving up 6.8 pts per game (this after the 24 in the Rose) with a per play yardage yield of .8 yds per play. I saw a glimpse of the new guys during a few practices, man I can’t wait for the ‘09 season to get started!!!!

Now for what I had tried to post earlier only to lose it…I don’t believe that some 16 team playoff system would ever work, nor should it. What I want to know is what’s so bad about the way we’re doing it now. At worst you may end up with one or two teams that may whine about not being given a ‘fair shot’ at the BCS Championship…and even those are probably the Boise States or the Utahs…so what. If you try to select sixteen teams then you’ll have a hellovalot more complaining about being left out of that.

The way it is now, with some 25 bowl games, you have 50 programs that get to reward their teams and fans with a post-season trip – and 25 of ‘em go home happy, coaches keep jobs and get raises and athletic departments get season ticket renewals. Plus communities all over the country get to have a football game as part of a local festival or tourism promotion. Not to mention how will you set up the playoffs? Top seeds get home games? How fair is that? How many tickets do the ‘visitors’ get? How do you set the seeding…the same way to do the BCS now? That sure won’t cause arguments, will it? If all the games are associated with current bowls that means, in addition to some of the communities having to move their traditional Holiday Festivals every year, 16 teams and their fans, will have had to travel to four games with all the expense associated with that – tickets, rooms (three night minimum), airfare, etc…hard to imagine, particularly in a ‘down economy’ that going over.

No, I say keep what we have. Maybe add a ‘plus-one’ game to eliminate that one team that might claim ‘it wuz robbed’, and have fun. Because if we’re gonna go through all this aggravation just to establish some concept of ‘equal opportunity competition’ it won’t be worth it…in fact it even smells like something them Libruls, or the ACLU, would have thought up, and we all know how you guys feel about that.
