As a student at UGA in the late, late 60s, I saw Archie Manning play in Athens and the Rebs won that day. Great game with Manning getting kocked out of the game and sent to the locker room. UGA took the lead. Manning returned and worked his special magic with his runs and his arm. When he returned onto the playing field from the locker room, he put his helmet on and ALL of the Sanford Stadium spectators cheered. Pretty dramatic moment. He has always been a favorite of mine.

UGA safety Jake Scott, was beaten deep on one Reb pass play in that game with Ole Miss scoring a long TD BUT he was later redeemed with a long punt return for a TD. He too was very, very special. Class guys both of thm and unbelievably great to view. COMPETITORS they were.
The upcoming UGA defensne could learn volumes from thee two about true big time competiton. Great players in college, great students and yes, even better in the NFL. They had it all.
Go Dawgs !!!

First of all it is obvious by now it was the players that got the Gators to where they are at when they had Spurrier because look at him with South Carolina, duh?!
As for Meyers, he is a pain in the arse and Tebow holier than thou, I just do not believe someone can be so spotless and I am a Christian who admittedly has sinned but asked for forgiveness. You do not read stories about his sins just about how great he is, there are plenty others out there who are just as worthy of writes ups, but if all you want is Tebow go too FLORIDA TODAY.COM, oops I meant GATOR TODAY, there are two other teams in florida and all they write about is UF!
That is why I come here to the best! 1. Because I eat, live. sleep, breathe UGA 2.. To get ammunition on the Gators.....GO Dawgs!

I'm just curious to see how many national titles come to Gainesville after Tebow leaves. I don't think that they will get another one for a while. The Tebow factor is about be gone and then we will see what Urban Meyer can really do. He hasn't really had to play without Tebow. I'm having a party when Tebow finishes his last game. I'll give you directions if you want them. It's going to be a celebration believe me. GO DAWGS!

Supressing free speech of our college coaches? Thank the liberals for their push for political correctness in every phase of our lives, except, of course, their own.

Well the fun starts in '09 because I won't have any more teams here at USC that win just 7 games. We'll win more and I'll open up a can of verbal whoopass on the college football world once more. It's great to be me.

Tony,

What you are missing here is the media sensationalizes everything. The coach understands that comments will be blown out of proportion even if they are in jest. The fun is gone for all of us........

Tony:

You make some good points about the fans' parsing of statements made by SEC coaches during what I would call the Dawg days of summer. However, I would not agree that statements made to boosters should always be taken with a grain of salt. Exhibit A: Kiffin's statements about Pahokee, Florida and the high school there. It doesn't matter, as Kiffin contends, that he did not realize there was a camera there. There are some things so offensive that you should not say them anywhere at any time when people are present, and the statements attributed to Kiffin about Pahokee should not have been made in any kind of public forum, including booster meetings. No apology will likely cure the problem Kiffin created for UT in Pahokee because his statements were so critical and sarcastic, at best, and really downright inexcusable. I wouldn't be surprised if Kiffin doesn't get a single recruit from Pahokee out of the 5 he has apparently offered to date. But at least Kiffin adds some excitement every time he opens his mouth when other coaches are trying to be more careful not to offend someone. Kiffin has become the Joe Biden of the SEC: expect the unexpected when he speaks!!
