UGA safety Jake Scott, was beaten deep on one Reb pass play in that game with Ole Miss scoring a long TD BUT he was later redeemed with a long punt return for a TD. He too was very, very special. Class guys both of thm and unbelievably great to view. COMPETITORS they were.
The upcoming UGA defensne could learn volumes from thee two about true big time competiton. Great players in college, great students and yes, even better in the NFL. They had it all.

What you are missing here is the media sensationalizes everything. The coach understands that comments will be blown out of proportion even if they are in jest. The fun is gone for all of us……..

You make some good points about the fans’ parsing of statements made by SEC coaches during what I would call the Dawg days of summer. However, I would not agree that statements made to boosters should always be taken with a grain of salt. Exhibit A: Kiffin’s statements about Pahokee, Florida and the high school there. It doesn’t matter, as Kiffin contends, that he did not realize there was a camera there. There are some things so offensive that you should not say them anywhere at any time when people are present, and the statements attributed to Kiffin about Pahokee should not have been made in any kind of public forum, including booster meetings. No apology will likely cure the problem Kiffin created for UT in Pahokee because his statements were so critical and sarcastic, at best, and really downright inexcusable. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kiffin doesn’t get a single recruit from Pahokee out of the 5 he has apparently offered to date. But at least Kiffin adds some excitement every time he opens his mouth when other coaches are trying to be more careful not to offend someone. Kiffin has become the Joe Biden of the SEC: expect the unexpected when he speaks!!
