I think its Bama if their offense doesnt lose the game for them and lets the defense win it. Bama is way to powerful for VT unless bama makes mistakes. IS mcelroy a hero. does he throw into coverage thinking he can make the pass only to be intercepted. Look at LSU last year. best team in country except for the QB position…and that showed in all their games. So the question for bama fans is how many interceptions from a new QB does it take to wreck their day. That being said if the kid mcelroy actualy plays well it will be a blowout. In any case il go with saban and say its gonna be 24-3. VT is not going anywhere on that D and they will not score an offensive touchdown on a drive more than 35 yards.

Sigma hokies: I like your concept of focusing on past games to determine the outcome of Bama v Va Tech. Lets look at the record of Bama v Va Tech and then come up with a more thorough evaluation. It is easier for a nouveau riche football program to only look at the last 10 or 15 years of history, unlike a storied program who will reflect on a complete history of a series to evaluate.

1932: Bama wins 9-6
1933 Bama wins 27-0
1952: Bama wins 33-0
1968: Bama wins 14-7
1969: Bama wins 17-13
1970: Bama wins 51-18
1973: Bama wins 77-6 (wow)
1979: Bama wins 31-7
1998: Va Tech wins 38-7

VT beat Alabama before 38-7 in 1998 in Music city Bowl in Nashville, TN…in case if you forget, fans of Tide. That mean VT can do it again! Smile! I know lot of people spoke that SEC is too great, but remmy, ALL too great has weakness…Like David and Goliath, you know how NCAA can bring real surprise like…Appalachian State University beat Mich U. it’s full of SURPRISE!!! LOL

The interesting thing is this Bud Foster has all spring to prepare his troops for Bama’s running game. Not to mention do you really want u new starting QB’s first game to be against this strong of a defense. My prediction is a close game with VT winning on an INT for touchdown late in the game. Beamer Ball is golden and with prsuure on a new Qb I think he will crack.

Georgia Tech will only get better under Coach Paul Johnson. Wikipedia Paul Johnson and look at his coaching records at past schools. GT will win at least 9 games this season.

Nice article as usual. Va Tech – ‘Bama will be a good game, Bama has a lot of talent/great recruiting classes but so does VT. Bama’s O-Line has 5 star talent but cAN THEY PROTECT/PLAY, they’re young and THERE’S a NEW QB as well – could be interesting if Bud Foster turns up THE HEAT. VT’s ball control offense has the weapons.VT’s defense has 2 new LBs, talented for sure but young and inexperienced. Could be a great game.

VT and Bama should be a good game, but as a reminder to those Bama fans who consider VT the best of the “mid-majors” and have a lot of confidence in the Bama coaching staff, the last time VT and Bama played, VT smashed them, and the last time Saban played VT (when he was at LSU) he caught a beat down (in Blacksburg). Just reminders that we play some pretty good footbal in SW Virginia
