It will be a quiet holiday weekend on Thrashers front
Just a quick post before the Memorial Day weekend officially begins. I can tell you that nothing will be resolved on the Thrashers ownership front until at least Tuesday.
I know that’s little news, but the deal continues to be worked on and the holiday weekend will slow the process. I wanted to you have the up-to-date information.

Your comment that there is not enough ice for the demands in Atlanta actually contradicts your premise that youth hockey is thriving there. You see, in Manitoba, just in almost any other place in Canada, children start playing hockey outside. On the temporary rinks setup in parks, on the pond, on the makeshift in their backyards, or any other open place available in the winter. No special arrangement is particularly needed.
That is something I do not see happening in Georgia. Point is, you simply cannot compare the state of a winter sport between a place that has winter five months a year and a place that declares snow emergency on the first sight of snow fall.

G52, I used to have a bit of respect for you when you’d bash people on your Phoenix forums. Defending your hometown is fine. But why are you here bashing Atlanta fans? The sun get to your head? Probably not, stuck in mom’s basement, having not seen the light of day for years unless the Warcraft servers are down. Do yourself a favour and quit posting here, since Phoenix will be down the drain next year when Scruggs isn’t in office and the voters of Glendale realized they just crapped 50 million down the drain for two years of rental hockey.

If you moved the team 20 miles north it would have done great even with the worst ownership in any sport. Who wants to go downtown? NHL: management is pathetic. Atlanta has gotten a screw job two times with hockey with poor ownership. One moves the team in the 70’s because he needs money to do other things and the ASG never had the funds to have a professional team.

Unless hockey fans in Atlanta come dressed as empty seats, there is no way in hell that their “official” attendance numbers are accurate. It’s about time they move this losing franchise out of a city that doesn’t care and give it to a city that will embrace them. I was in the U.S last week and went to a sports bar/ restaurant hoping to catch some of game 3 of Vancouver/San Jose. The bar had over 60 tv’s on the wall and not one had the hockey game on. Instead they were featuring two different MLB regular season games, auto-racing, womens college fast-ball, poker, and triathlon. What a joke!!!! Atlanta maybe has 10,000 people who care about hockey out of a 5 million population. Winnipeg has over 600,000 hockey fans out of a population under a million. Your loss is our gain.

You’re right AtlantaFan, this is completely our own fault. The NHL gave us two teams and gave us many years to prove we can support a team, but we failed miserably!!! We had great owners, a great building, and dirt- cheap ticket prices, but we still messed it up. Oh well, no one ever claimed we were smart here in Atlanta. Good luck with the team Winnipeg. Oh yeah, one last thing. Go Jets Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
