* The Thrashers have lost three straight and have just six wins in the past 25 games. The Sabres have lost three straight after a stretch of 11 games where they went 8-2-1.

* The teams are tied with 60 points, four points behind the Hurricanes for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

* The Thrashers penalty kill unit is last in the NHL, tied with the Oilers, with a 76.0 percent success rate.

* After going 13 games without a goal, Dustin Byfuglien has two goals and two assists in the past five games.

* Alexander Burmistrov, Patrice Cormier, Freddy Meyer, Fredrik Modin and Jim Slater are out for the Thrashers.

I will have a major update right around dinner time on a big trade rumor I am tracking this afternoon between one Canadian team out West, and a team in the Southeast Division.. (I could tell you who is involved but I would have to kill you:) In all seriousness I will have an update for you on this one…just was told to keep it hush until this evening..

For a whole lot of reasons THIS SHOULD be an entertaining game.
A good simmering rivalry, their peeps always show up in force here in the ATL, and close competitive contests.
I hope our boys have not gotten too caught up in the off-ice BS, they’re human EH… they know what’s being said, and can concentrate on HOCKEY!

As an aside…….
MUCHO CONGRATS TO BUFFALO ON THEIR NEW, COMMITTED OWNERSHIP!!!!

Bad news folks… Enemies of our team had poisoned our beloved ALTFAN1 during tonight’s dinner…
It’s not always good to know too much… I guess we’ll never know who was involved in this trade he was about to share with us… What a shame.
