Thrashers re-call Dawes; Burmistrov and Modin on IR

As I mentioned in by other blog, I am not with the Thrashers one this road trip to Phoenix and Edmonton. However, I can report they made several moves today.

Nigel Dawes was re-called from AHL Chicago. I understand there my be some players with flu-like symptoms but I don’t have all the details.

Also, forwards Alexander Burmistrov(foot) and Fredrik Modin (upper body) have been placed on injured reserve.

That is all for now. I will update as I get more news.

Don’t let the trade talk with St. Louis and working on deal with Andrew Ladd news get lost in the other blog!

Okay, sure… I love to speculate! :)

St. Louis has a lot of young talent to re-sign… if Bogosian is indeed on the block, this would be a good trade partner in a youth for youth move.

However, the most likely targets are Eric Brewer (myeh) and Brad Boyes, who hasn’t exactly been earning his $4 million salary lately. If the Blues want to extend their youth, his contract would be a good one to move.

Great, another player to not add anything like Stapleton.

So, when will the good news be announced?

With Daws and Postma being brought up, there could be a trade on the way. Who do y’all think are the most likely to be traded? Pick a d-man and a forward and/or rank a few players.

I think Bergforce is the #1 forward on the trading block and Hainsey or Sopel for d-men.

I’d say Sopel goes first, he’ll have some minor value to a team that couldn’t nab some of the bigger names. If we want a roster may very well be Bergfors even though he seems to have finally embraced Rammer’s system. I don’t see teams giving us roster players for ours other than a guy like Bergfors.

Just don’t have the horses. Playing with a bunch of minor leaguers is not going to get it done. I am sick of this crap roster.

Stapleton Sucks

Another loss, so much for going out with a bang. Seriously is Stapleton someone’s son in law? Why on earth does he have a roster spot? He does not even make contact with the other team, he wins maybe two faceoffs and loses three or four. At least Eager would hit people and score once in a while.

It is not easy being a hockey fan in Atlanta – another close loss last night and no points. Fans who want to help keep the Thrashers in Atlanta can view this “How Can Fans Help?’ list (below). Please “like us” on face book and forward the website link keepthethrashers to three or four people – we need to show potential investors and the NHL that we want to Keep the Thrashers in Atlanta:

C'mon Dud

It’s time to sell players. I am not saying completely dismantle the team, Ottawa isn’t getting much of a return for their players, but the fragile fringe players here got to go, if a contending team needs Antropov or even Peverley , move them for a return. Hainsey also. We have a decent core to actually build around, Dud claimed he wanted us to play a gritty aggressive style, the players I mentioned aren’t capable of that, the players I’ve mentioned have all been questioned about their commitment and we could easily get a return, no sense in paying Mason to not play also. Plenty of teams need a goalie. These players are tradeable, I highly doubt the big blockbuster will happen that will turn this around, this slide has been going on for two months, it was neglected, our season is over, for whatever reason Dud waited too long and neglected to fix some of the glaring holes in this sinking ship.

It’s difficult to get roster players from teams trying to bulk up for the playoffs and our assets aren’t that valuable unless it’s a Bogosian or Bergfors that gets traded, maybe even a Sopel move will happen, but it seems like the only move we’ll do is put freakin Dawes in the lineup over Boulton. I know Duds is handcuffed and I’m glad he didn’t overpay for Versteeg, but these fringe players like Stapleton and Dawes aren’t gonna do jack, how many chances do they deserve? If we can’t at least upgrade these roster spots, we are in deep doo doo..yikes.
