Updated: Kulda re-called from AHL; Mason activated from IR

A couple of quick notes from today’s practice and the Thrashers, and eventually I, leave for a huge game in Carolina Saturday night.

Freddy Meyer did not practice on Friday. Coach Craig Ramsay said he was under a 24-hour observation after he lost consciousness on the ice during Thursday’s game against Calgary. I spoke to Meyer after the game and he said he was not experiencing a headache. That is a good sign as far as a concussion is involved – but that could change.

The Thrashers re-called defenseman Arturs Kulda from AHL Chicago to take Meyer’s spot. He will join the team in Raleigh. Kulda has nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 45 games with the Wolves this season. Kulda appeared in four game with the Thrashers last season with two assists.

Chris Mason came off injured reserve from the MCL sprain of his right knee. He  made the trip to Raleigh and Toronto. Drew MacIntyre was re-assigned to AHL Chicago.

The Thrashers went through another up-tempo practice Friday with most drills aimed at sharpening the team’s finishing skills. They’ve had scoring chances of late, but have not cashed in. The practice was followed by a video session where clips of the the good – and bad – from Thursday’s loss were shown.

The practice lines remained the same from the Flames game.

Sure would be nice to see a trade happen soon… If we wait too long, anyone available who can help us will have gone to another team. It certainly seems we certainly can’t turn things around as is…

Craig Conroy is retiring… which is good… I don’t have to hear rumors that he’s coming to Atlanta anymore.

To jb: My guess is that Dudley pulls the trigger if we lose in Carolina Saturday night.

AThrasherfan13 – If Dudley had a viable trade lined up, he probably would have made it by now. I doubt he’s just waiting to see if we lose again.

We need a pure goal scorer. I think Ales Hemsky will do the trick!

Dustin Penner would not be bad either. he is actually scratched for tonight with the flu…who knows, maybe there is more to it than that.

Why not get Penner and/or Hemsky and Phillips and/or Ruutu from OTT. we need a few more scoring forwards, a nasty grinder and another D-man.

Bring back Boris and open the Canes game with a line of Bolts-Boris and Thorburn. See if the gloves come off before 4 seconds. The Bruin game the other night was their third with a fight withone one minute of the opening puck being dropped. They know how to send a message. Ramsey’s messagesvague and academic that I suspect that they fall on deaf ears. Would be nice to see the guy show some emotion, any emotion, maybe even a grimace.

If you looked at the line combos and knew anything about the team you’d know the forward not pulling his weight’s name starts with a P.
