A couple of quick notes from today’s practice and the Thrashers, and eventually I, leave for a huge game in Carolina Saturday night.
Freddy Meyer did not practice on Friday. Coach Craig Ramsay said he was under a 24-hour observation after he lost consciousness on the ice during Thursday’s game against Calgary. I spoke to Meyer after the game and he said he was not experiencing a headache. That is a good sign as far as a concussion is involved – but that could change.
The Thrashers re-called defenseman Arturs Kulda from AHL Chicago to take Meyer’s spot. He will join the team in Raleigh. Kulda has nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 45 games with the Wolves this season. Kulda appeared in four game with the Thrashers last season with two assists.
Chris Mason came off injured reserve from the MCL sprain of his right knee. He made the trip to Raleigh and Toronto. Drew MacIntyre was re-assigned to AHL Chicago.
The Thrashers went through another up-tempo practice Friday with most drills aimed at sharpening the team’s finishing skills. They’ve had scoring chances of late, but have not cashed in. The practice was followed by a video session where clips of the the good – and bad – from Thursday’s loss were shown.
The practice lines remained the same from the Flames game.
