Kane out, Bogosian scratched vs. Lightning

Evander Kane did not skate Thursday morning and will not play against the Lightning tonight. Kane, who has battled a mid-body injury for a month, suffered another blow in Florida on Monday. He did not practice Tuesday and was taken off the ice after 10 minutes of Wednesday’s practice.

Thrashers coach Craig Ramsay reiterated that Kane, and other players, must be healthy before they return to the ice.

Kane is out, along with forwards Jim Slater (concussion) and Fredrik Modin (mid-body). Modin did skate this morning even though he was placed on injured reserve Wednesday as the Thrashers re-called Nigel Dawes and Tim Stapleton from AHL Chicago.

Also out of the lineup will be Zach Bogosian. The defenseman will be a healthy scratch for the second straight game. Ramsay said that the play of Freddy Meyer in Monday’s win in Florida earned him another game.

Here were the practice lines from Thursday morning:

Ondrej Pavelec will start in goal.

Man, the other guys are going to have to step up … I hope we don’t miss Kane’s presence too badly, tonight.

Is very, very ungood. May Stamkos and St. Louise be squished against the boards so hard that they have to get a squeegee to remove them.

Dawes with Stapleton / Antropov is kinda scary to thing about… I like Stapes and Antro (Even though he has kinda been invisible out there) but dawes is kinda crazy… I don’t see why we can’t bring up Peterson? or another young forward… I guess maybe too much youth… but dawes I dunno about…

I really liked the play of Freddy Meyer last game! I think its good to give him another shot, kids earning his playing time! made some great plays, had some great chances!

Come on Ramsay…You don’t have to make excuses for benching Bogosian…We have all seen his struggles…You don’t have to say that “Meyer deserved another look”. I would suggest keeping Zach scratched until after the break. If it is still a lingering injury, just give him the next 2 weeks off to get healthy. He is not contributing at this point.

Six guys in the line up with less than one year in the league,,,,scary. And only one line remains static. Time for eveyone to step up and stat surprising eveyone again.

That line-up looks worse than our 1st year in the league!

Starting to look like the Wolves preseason roster, not good. STEP UP BOYS!!! Hit STAMKOS hard and lay the wood to the diminutive one too….NOT FREE SKATING

Let’s see.. you’re comparing this roster to one on which not a single player finished the season with a positive plus/minus rating and the top scorer had 50 points. So, um, not quite.

I know it’s going to be hard to ask, but take a deep breath or three.. count to seven, and relax. The injured players will eventually heal. All is not lost.

is it just me or does a boulton cormier thorburn line and a burmy little stewy line seem like better options

Man, this is ugly. Dud-man, get some bodies in here!

The kids need to step up. That’s a lot to ask, there’s too many missing parts right now. I do think the Boulton-Burmy-Thorburn line is intriguing, Burmy carries the puck in deep and Thorburn is a net-crasher; might be some garbage goals to be had there. The first and fourth lines look like road kill, and a Kane-less Little line is just not the same.

too much youth, not enough sandpaper and scoring. As soemone said..Stamkos should be hit, in fact..physically we should take it to the Ning all night long. Heal fast, Evander. We need NHL players..these wolves aren’t gonna cut it.

Carcillo and Versteeg are apparently on the trading block, not to mention Mike Danton is making a comeback. If I were ATL heirachry, I’d inquire about Carkillo and Versty.

[...] Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Evander Kane won’t be in the lineup tonight, has had a mid-body injury for the last month. Jim Slater and Fredrik Modin are also out. Zach Bogosian will be a healthy scratch for the 2nd consecutive game. Ondrej Pavelec will be in net. Lines at practice; Ladd-Peverley-Bergfors, Cormier-Little-Stewart, Boulton-Burmistrov-Thorburn, Dawes-Stapleton-Antropov. [...]

David Frost – could you not have chosen a different username? Sorry no humor in this – this guy is one of the most disgusting slime balls ever in hockey..right behind Graham James and Alan Eagleson.

On a separate note, many on this blog have complained that we haven’t been giving the young guys a chance…wanting to rid ourselves of the Modins and Eagers of the world. Where here they are! Let’s see what they can do and let Dudley and Rammer evaluate after 3-4 games.

Yep, hate to say, but might as well expect two losses to TB. This would essentially be like our little rendition of the Miracle on Ice if we won a game against them in this condition especially.

Carcillo and Versteeg huh? Is that really true? I dunno, but I’d take either one of em in an instant.

We’re not doomed. It’s just a bad time to be having a rash of injuries. Not that there’s ever really a ‘good time’ to have them. But, you know what I mean.

The bottom line is … every Thrasher knows the score. They’re being asked to step up their PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY to bridge the gap, while we’re missing several of our key pieces. It’s up to them to deliver the product. Hey, we saw Eric Boulton and Anthony Stewart score hat tricks this year. So, I’m not ruling out anything.

Go Thrashers!

Masha, I appreciate your optimism, but….well, I’ve already said it so many times. I’ll just let the game do the talking in all likelihood it won’t be pretty. Regardless.
