First!
You’d think we would avoid playing divisional teams during the preseason

Chris, although this is a different topic, do you know if Dudley has scheduled an interview with Torchetti yet?

My guess is they play these three teams to keep travel costs for meaningless preseason games as low as possible, hence playing basically the three closest teams.

Oh man! Big move! Thanks for the update Chris. Any of the pre games on TV? Now that the playoffs are over, I’m really missing hockey.
But I’m watching the world cup. Mexico 2 France 0.

JR: You need to keep up with the blogs. We had the reported signing of Fredrik Pettersson (when it broke out of Sweden) and official signing a day later. Gotta keep reading!

I particularly don’t like the sound of the Thrashers being sold ’seperately’ which I read as ‘can be moved out of Atlanta’.

The owners have announced that they are just seeking minority investors, which I am sure will get posted here soon by C-Vivs

I’ve heard about the search for minority investors. This article mentions the team being outright sold more than once. I’ve since heard this morning discussions on sports talk radio of the teams being sold as well. No more mention of minority investors.

apparently the asg has released a statement that says the report is not true and they are still looking for investors and committed to keeping the team in atlanta. kudos to you Duder! I’ll step down from the ledge now.

Dudley has offered contracts to all of the UFA. I have spoken with some of the players and the contracts are not to the players liking. I know of three players that don’t want to leave Atlanta. Their agents have come back with counter offers for Dudley. They are all waiting on his approval or a counter offer. It is a cat and mouse game from here on in. The team is trying to make a deal with the Blackhawks for one of two players. Keep your fingers crossed….

Flames – if you are right about this, it would make sense for us to low-ball a few of our UFA’s to buy some time in negotiations. If a trade with CHI is truly possible, then it makes sense to not clutter the roster with any other top 9 players until Stan Bowman tells us to take a hike or a deal is made with another team. This is the quiet before the storm and we will know something very soon I think. If nothing else, we will know if this team is going back to a shoestring budget.

damn, i sure hope Flames is right. i’m admittedly hesitant to believe the validity of such inside information coming from a blog poster, but i’ll choose to be an optimist because i want it to be true.

Brendan & J.B. – at this point, I choose to believe the validity of what Flames’ has written over the validity of the NY Post article saying the ASG is selling the two teams separately. Selling them separately is a less attractive option and as long there is a covenant with the NHL to keep the Thrash in ATL for a certain time, the most interested suitors would not want the hockey team until they could actually move it…that is if Bettman would actually allow it.

Yah, Slater centering the 1st line is the dream come true for Atlanta franchise – after all these years of suffering and doubt. We’d be in business, really(?)

Smoothie, I don’t think there’s any chance the Thrashers are leaving Atlanta, even if they do get sold. They can’t leave. Not really.

I wish Chad Denny would get traded to team that wasn’t so loaded with defensemen. It must be awful hard to make it in the NHL or AHL ,when you go back and forth between 3 levels of teams. How can you get some chemistry going with your line mates when you keep moving up or down? On top of that, the team keeps bringing in new talent. I bet, if some team or veteran player took him under their wing, he could be the player he should be. I’ve seen his speed and ability to score. He needs lots of ice time each game for several games to get his engines going, then you’ll see the real Chad Denny. Come on, give him a chance. I wish Buffalo or Boston would give him a contract, so I could watch him in Portland, Maine or Boston. We know how great he is around these parts, after seeing him play a brilliant Junior career for the Lewiston Maineiacs. He could fly, bang, and score.
