Bogosian MRI is negative

According to Thrashers coach John Anderson the MRI exam on Zach Bogosian’s thumb was negative. Bogosian and Anderson both told me his status for tonight’s game against the Sabres is a “game-time decision.” However, Bogosian’s name was not listed among the defensive pairings. That could change as Bogosian took part in the morning skate, but we shall see.

The line combinations for tonight:

Bergfors-Antropov-Afinogenov

MacArthur-Peverley-Little

White-Reasoner-Armstrong

Artyukhin-Slater-Thorburn

Slava Kozlov and Eric Boulton are the scratches.

Johan Hedberg back in goal. He will face Ryan Miller (thanks to a Twitter follower @jeffgarrow for running into Miller downtown).

Clarke MacArthur admitted to being nervous about facing his old team tonight. He said he didn’t have time to catch up with any former mates last night, but hoped to do so tonight – after a Thrashers win.

That’s all the news from today’s skate.

I’m working on a big feature on Hedberg, so look for that in the next week or so.

~~~~~~~~~~~shaking my Magic 8 Ball~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thrashers go down 6-1. Lone goal scored by Antropov who will speak to press after game complaining (correctly) that he seems to be the only one playing with passion.
~~~~~~~~Reading Magic 8 Ball instructions–apparently you aren’t supposed to actually shake the thing~~~~~~~~~

IM NOT GOING TO MISS THE PLAYOFFS!!!

“DIRECTV and Comcast have reached an agreement to return VERSUS to the DIRECTV programming lineup today. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

VERSUS will return to the same DIRECTV programming packages it was in at the end of August 2009.

“We are pleased that both sides were able to work out a satisfactory deal to bring this programming back to our customers,” said Derek Chang, executive vice president, Content Strategy and Development, DIRECTV.

So, its looking like Boults is being pushed out, along with Kozlov. A housecleaning, perhaps, of any friend of Kovy’s by a resentful, unsuccessful coach and GM? Looks like it to me. And you know, a guy like Boults who gives alot on the ice for his teammates, and alot to this franchise off the ice all year long (when other players are out of town or on vacation in exotic places), deserves better than to end his time in Atlanta sitting in the press box.

Nothing personal against Artyukhin, but he’s supposed to replace Boults as a fighter? Here’s his one fight this season: (it can’t even being called “fight”, really):
http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/87211

And last season’s 7 opponents included Bill Guerin (how old is HE?), Ville Peltonen (he fights?) and Chris Thorburn. I gotta say, NOT the heavyweights in the league.

Contrast that with a REAL fight: http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/64007
And notice how it pumps up the crowd, and most likely, Boults teammates.

Boults fought 10 times this season (obviously, fewer chances due to the games he’s been scratched), 16 times last season and 13 times the year before that. And check out some of the names: Donald Brashear, Andrew Peters, Todd Fedoruk, Riley Cote and Laraque. Classics.

Folks, you’re looking at the passing of an era. My hat’s off to Eric Boulton.

Chris, can you find out how long Chelios is going to be here.
I won’t be able to get to a practice until next week at the earliest and I want to make sure I get his autograph.

Thanks

Sam…I agree with your sentiments for Boulton. He is a great enforcer and does a good job at policing the ice. I sincerely hope that he is not done with in out organization. I see Bolts weekly at the Ice Forum when my kids and I practice. I see him there during the summer too. He has made the city his home and I have huge respect for that.

I really didnt understand the R2 pickup at the trade deadline. Bolts really wasnt part of the problem and served a role very well. I also feel that when Bolts gets more ice time he improves quite a bit.

Heart goes out to Kozy and Bolts. White should be the one sitting\gone not either one of them.

Hey Rightshot – as an FYI – at one time Chelios would only sign for kids. That may be different for the “home town” fans but that was his stance to opposing teams fans in the past.

I dunno about Bolts being done. Unless they are looking at drastically cleaning house in the off-season I would be surprised to see him go. He is a good character player and most importantly (as far as I know) he wants to be in Atlanta.

The UFA market looks fairly thin for this summer so it ought to be a nail-biter to see what Dudley comes up with in the off-season.

HonkyTonk is right. Boulton doesn’t deserve to sit. While Arty may provide the potential of more offense, his skills can’t get fully utilized playing on the 4th line. Boulton should be playing with Reasy and Thorbs just like the rest of the season unless White is outplaying him in practice. White is doing nothing to justify replacing Kane on his line or Top 9 minutes. Arty, while not an enforcer, can hit, pester and cycle with Slater and Army. I have no idea how Todd White complements anyone on this hockey team really. Without Kovy’s ability to create time and space, White is useless I’m afraid.

I just don’t under stand Anderson’s lineups. A good coach plays the players that give his team the best chance to win regardless of personal feelings. White is useless, Kozlov gives the team some help on the PP and we have lost the last three shootouts with him on the bench. I know he hasn’t played nearly as well as last yr but he still is a better option than White. I also agree that Boulton is missed when not in the lineup.
This franchise needs a complete overhaul.

Big game tonight. If everything goes right, we’ll be three points out of the 8th and final playoff spot in the East.

If everything goes wrong, we could be one point away from having the third worst record in the league.

Place your bets…

Is Boults still sitting 5 minutes from the PIM record for the Thrashers? At least give him his due and let him throw down one more time so that he can knock off Odgers.

I can hear it now. Waddell is great at everything, except naming Coaches. If he could only improve in this one, tinsy-weensie area of being a General Manager.

Ummn, didn’t Waddell, himself, on two occasions, come to coach this team for a combined 86 games? That’s more than a season, in total. But Brendan, you’re forgetting something. Don Waddell, the GM, assigned Don Waddell, the Coach, behind the bench. So, it was a GM decision. Can’t he be forgiven for that?

It’s hilarious, when you think about it.

Jack – Center Ice is prohibited from airing national games on Versus and NBC. They can only show local/regional feeds.

Way to go, Todd White. You trip over your own bunion and then decide to just lay there trying to drum up sympathy from the crowd. Instead, you just sapped the energy off of the team. Anyone else notice how the play got sloppy after that?

YAY Slates. Okay, I am from Buffalo originally, but I have been in Atlanta for 13 years…..I am getting a bit sick and tired of the Buffalo fans at Thrashers games. They are really getting annoying. I get it, you love the Sabres. I love the Sabres too, but not when they play US, the THRASHERS. If you cannot bear to pull for the home team, why do you have to try so hard to make butts out of yourselves at the games? I didn’t go tonight for just that reason. By the way, I recognize many of you as people who show up on other nights in your Thrashers blue…..exactly which team are you a traitor to?

Glad that overrated piece of commode residue Ryan “Sieve” Miller surrendered a trio of goals on only five shots! Loser must have had flashbacks being back in the Olynmopic gold medal showdown with Canada. Heartless cur! My only regret is that the jerk did not get saddled with well deserved defeat. Johan Lehtonen allowed the first loser at Olympics to wiggle off hook! Was not impressed with Moose impersonation of Michelin marshmallow man. Goal impotent Thrashers staked him to an early 3-1 lead for the love of God! Losing streak is over. Guess that is slight cause for meager jubilation. Rah. A win is a win. Especially one in regulation! Too little too late for these prima donnas. Such is life for Atlanta professional hockey fans! ++STENDEK++

Its time for change. You have some talent after so many losing seasons now lets get some talent in management that can get us to the next level. DW and JA wil never do that. Give us hope and we will pay!

Stendek, usually I find your posts humourous, but calling Ryan Miller overrated and other names is even beneath you. Everyone has a bad night. MVP of the Olympics. A wonderful guy on and off the ice. If you have a chance some time, check out his record along with his charity work for cancer.
