Update: Kane, Schubert at least three weeks

Evander Kane suffered a fracture of his left foot and will be out at least three weeks, the team announced Tuesday after the rookie forward underwent a CT scan.

Kane suffered the injury blocking a shot during Saturday’s loss to Tampa Bay. He continues to wear a walking boot and using crutches.

More bad news on the injury front came Tuesday morning. Coach John Anderson said defenseman Christoph Schubert will miss three weeks with a pulled muscle in his hip. The team said Schubert’s injury could cost him as much as five weeks, which would be the remainder of the season.

Schubert, who suffered the injury Saturday in Tampa Bay and missed Sunday’s game against Carolina,  played just three games after missing 13 games with a knee injury.

Anderson said the current plan is no call-up with six healthy defensemen. However, that could change later in the week.

Kane and Schubert could miss 14 games if they are out three weeks.

Johan Hedberg will start in goal tonight against the Predators.

The lineup remains the same with Slava Kozlov and Eric Boulton the healthy scratches and Kane and Schubert also out.

Yes, makes perfect sense since Popovic with Bogosian is a playoff-caliber tandem. Why not Kulda at least?

And White is the perfect replacement for Kane on the 3rd line? Puuuhleeease.

Has JA lost his mind letting White play with Army and Slater? Makes no sense not to make some changes. Arty is a perfect fit for the third line.

Anyone have any insight to the Kozzy issue? Does JA just think he Kozzy won’t buy into the system? I just don’t get it, any insight would be great. I feel bad for Boults…he is on the outside looking in!

It was Idiotic Idea to put White in 3-d line. He was absolutely horrible against Carolina. I like to see Cheli skate with Bogus at next game. Andreson has to think smart, He has a tool but he did not use them right. What’s damn he thinks???

So, a minus 13 on the season is a playoff caliber defenseman nowadays? I guess, I need to go out more often.

WTF??!
“Anderson said the current plan is no call-up with six healthy defensemen”…
Why not recall best defenders of Wolwes, for example, Kulda or Chelios?!
I think. that they’re better as Popovich or Bogosyan.

The whole team may not be playoff caliber, bad choice of words. But the point remains, our 2nd pairing may be serviceable. They seemed to be fitting pretty well together until this past weekend of futility.

Viv – can you please ask some of these line-up questions?

I hope the results of the CT scan will be good ones. I guess we’ll find out soon. Get well, Evander!

Smoothie, careful, of you’ll raise the ire of those who hold the opinion that “bloggers are idiots who would be fleeced in trades and have no idea how to run a team, especially not as well as Waddell can. That’s why they’re here and not GM’s.” Imagine it, can you? A blog full of nothing but ex-NHLGM’s. And then what would the Waddell-backers say??

I suppose, that the reason they’re on a blog is because they LOST their GM job. Unlike Waddell.

Get well, Schubie!! I hope you’re back, next year.

Are you kidding? I’m stunned at the number of people that didn’t even know Atlanta had a hockey team. But, then again, several years ago the AJC, with their legendary wisdom, yanked the paper off of the newstands because, apparently, we were no longer worthy of the effort to truck it down here anymore.

JA- Kozlov isn’t playing because he demanded to be traded just before the trade deadline. The reason is because of his reduced role. Also, he has been invisible this season. Unless the NHL changed the overtime format to a shootout, there is no reason for Kozzy. I loved him over the past couple of years but the “age-less wonder” is not the same. Let’s win tonight boys!

Yes, and if it wasn’t for SportsSouth I’d be lost. Now if I could just get them to coordinate their camera angles, I’d be set. They love to go to the “on ice” angle in the corners and then linger there while the action has moved on.

After walking away from Phillips last Sunday night in a stone cold funk as to “what in the hell did I just spend money on”? – I can unfortunately say, I really don’t care any longer.

If the team doesn’t give a damn, and that performance was as heartless as any I’ve ever witnessed, then why should I?

Maybe they should pay me to stay away anyhoot – they are a pathetic 0-5-1 in the games I’ve gone to this year and they have gotten the last of my money, at least this season.

Terry Crisp was great in relief of Darren Eliot, during the 2nd period telecast. Nik Antropov scored for Atlanta, to cut the lead to 2-1. Still, outscored 12-3 in the past three games, Jeff Schultz will be ready to pounce if the Thrashers don’t win the 3rd period and the game.

Any apologist who wants to defend this crap can go straight to Hades. Completely unacceptable! Bring up the Wolves en masse. Losing streak now three with more to come! Do not miss Kari Lehtonen at all. Have his brothers Pavs and Moose to surrender marshmallow goals. See John Petrino whining again. What a darn loser. Can his backside tonight. Fed up with these pathetic do not give a money’s butt efforts! I will celebrate joyously when the Thrashers relocate to Hamilton or any place hard up enough to take them! Long to have a professional hockey team in Atlanta with heart. Guess that is never going to happen. More is the pity. Too late to exchange these quitters for Wolves? Maybe then there will be a glimmer of hope for playoffs. Not with the untalented play out the stringers on the ice now. Not angry anymore. Just numb with utter digust! ++STENDEK++ Any original Flames left? Take away their walking canes and suit em up! Can not do any worse than these prima donna figure skaters.

Brendan, I have an idea for a local reality show: just the ASG boys and Don Waddell explain away the glorious ten years of the Atlanta Thrashers franchise.

Prediction: Apart from bad luck, it’s Heatly’s, Hartley’s, Hossa’s and Kovalchuk’s fault.

The only benefit of tonight’s game was that you could see in Nashville proof that if the ASG ever bother to hire a GM that knows what they are doing….and a coach that does the same….we might be able to put a decent product on the ice with a very low team salary.
