On the Tampa Bay side, former Thrashers Kurtis Foster has a bit of a "Homecoming." One goal and one assist. Foster was one of the stars of the game. Did y'all check out the minutes played by Marty St. Louis? 26:50. That's ten seconds shy of 27-minutes ... played by a forward. Look at Stamkos' minutes!! These guys are logging minutes typically reserved for blueliners.

I do want to give credit to Enstrom for a goal and an assist. And, to be fair, Kozlov had a goal and a helper, too. I know. You're all stunned that I offered something positive to say about Kozlov. Hey, I wish him well in his post-Atlanta career. I'm appreciative for what he's done, for the Thrashers, through the years. I still think Kozlov can have a productive hockey career as his 40's approach.

What can we say about the timeliness of a few of Kane's goals this year? He's proving that he belongs in the NHL. Good for him. My concerns about him weren't "talent related," but rather, that he had just turned 18 in August, playing in a league full of grown men.

Here's the boxscore from this afternoon's affair. http://www.nhl.com/ice/boxscore.htm?id=2009020326. Troubling is Kovalchuk's -3 for the game. Once again, Atlanta is held scoreless until the midway point of the game, or 3rd period. Why are the first 40 minutes so challenging for this club??

I guess there's another way to look at that. We ARE a pretty impressive 3rd period team. We pour it on late. Salvaging a point here was pretty good. Otherwise, it's a 4-point swing to a division rival, whom we're chasing.

So, 40 shots against. Tapping my fingers on the countertop. It's a bit of a broken record now. If this team makes the playoffs, and is still giving up 40 shots a game, don't expect too many wins in the postseason. At what point ... do we start to 'tighten up?'

But hey, that's 4-1-2 in the last seven, good enough for ten points out of a possible fourteen (10/14). Technically, it's three-straight losses. But we're 0-1-2 over that stretch.

Kovy's -3 was indictative of his play, no hustle, no backchecking, and no fortitude. When the overtime goal went in the net, Kovy was coasting back on defense, his feet side by side, just watching.

That was probably the worst game I've seen Kovy play in a long time.

Another good move would be to trade Ron Hainsey, he is becoming a liability more than anything else...

I want the Thrashers to learn that if they played a game in the first 5 minutes like they did in the last 5 minutes life would be much easier.

Pass the tums.
