Sadtoseeitthisway - I don't think the farm is supposed to provide scoring help mid-season on a regular basis. They are supposed to develop future players who will be regulars on the team right out of training camp the way Bryan Little came out a year or two ago. If any of these guys were that good to begin with they wouldn't be in Chicago in the first place. The real job is doing more development jobs like Little got on guys like Esposito, Kulda & Postma.

Just read your story about Kovy being out, Chris. (http://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-thrashers/kovalchuk-won-t-play-193713.html) You have the Thrashers (7-6-1, 14 points) as being 6-5-1... Last I checked, 6+5+1 doesn't quite add up to 14. Close, though.

Sounds like if we have to get scoring help from the farm the news is not good. Jason Krog or Sterling, and little else? Ugh! Opposing coaches would love to see us on the schedule with Kovy out. How do you sell tickets to see a far away non-rival opponent? and its on a weekend when anybody who`s a football fan has a key game for the team they`re following sounding more important to attend. Maybe its time for another free kids/ free food "special" to get people to come. And on a Friday night no less. Sad to see it this way.

JAmes_kovyboy from MTL - Esposito isn't lighting the league on fire. He has 4 points in 8 games, and all our top scorers are the AAAA players like Krog, Sterling & Stapleton. Defensively, Postma started with a few good games but has fizzled with only 4 points in 11 games. But Kulda leads the team with a +10, followed by Chelios at +6 and there is one other guy at +3, all else are at +1 or in the negatives. Kulda & Postma are our best prospects there now to make the big squad.

Our best talent is still in the juniors. Carozzi is still by far and away the top goalie in the league down there. Morin & O'Dell are doing well also.

Oops! Looks like Kovy's foot is sore, maybe some swelling, too? Maybe they rushed it a little but he looks close to being ready. Probably worst case is returning a week from tomorrow at home vs Bruins. Or Sunday vs Oilers.

Well, just hours after John Anderson told me he was "90 percent" sure that Kovalchuk would play Thursday, he is out. He won't even make the trip to New York. He has not been ruled out for Friday's game yet, but stay tuned. This situation changes by the minute.

I'm sure he wants to play asap but Kovy should take it easy, regardless. Maybe cut down at ES and save his minutes more for the PP, perhaps. Shorter shifts maybe (if JA can get him off the ice lol). The Thrash play the next 3 games in 4 days and, btw, get used to that. Following the Oil this coming Sunday (2PM), the Thrash have their last 3 day break until just before the Olympic break.
