If we can get production from the 3rd and 4th lines, consistently, this team will do very well. But look what happens when it dries up. That PP Unit looks pretty decent, but we shouldn’t count on it, game after game, to get the job done.

Atlanta special teams … rank fairly well. That’s a positive thing as the team moves forward.

World Be Free/OmniFan – I commented earlier on Max as well that he has been in the league too long to be making errant passes. Also, I too will give you that he has speed. But he uses the blazing speed, and instead of driving to the net, he circles back, ends up dangling the puck through the whole zone, up until he either loses the puck or makes a horrible pass. At one point yesterday he came down the left side, didn’t go to the net, circled back since he was ahead of everyone else, and ended up going back towards the blueline and passed the puck to Kubina only the pass was behind him and Kubina had no chance at it.

Max will dazzle you and made us think that he was the 2nd coming of Pavel Bure (that’s how long he’s been in the league). Only he was so inconsistent that the Sabres put him on the trading block for all of last year and there were no takers. He went to free agency and all 30 teams passed on signing him. His only option was to have a “professional tryout” with the 4th worst team in the league during training camp.

Get Max off the top line.

Zach, your comments are insightful and appreciated. That’s exactly why you should save them for someone else. If you choose to continue your current trend of rebuttals I would advise you to get a pile of bricks, stack them on top of each other and then start talking to them. You’ll accomplish the same.
