Congrats to Pev. A year ago he was close to looking for a job painting bridges in Nashville. Now he is making a Buck Three annually for a couple of years. Not bad for a 27-year old with a young family living in ATL. I'm guessing he eventually gets an "A" once Slava retires...

Smitty, I knew it was somewhere near the airport, but I think I know exactly what you are talking about. Next time I fly home I am going to walk by it and think of these blogs now.

As Vivs mentioned the Buffalo airport is the easiest around to get in and out of, but the fact that I am a Delta frequent flyer member and Delta's gates are the very last ones of the terminal annoys me.

The Chukster interview was great. I think that's the most English I've ever heard him speak. Very candid with the guys and appreciative of the fans. He again mentioned the buzz around the team/city when they made the playoffs so he knows the fans are out there. I'm gonna miss more than just his goal scoring if he doesn't get re-signed. He IS Atlanta Thrashers hockey for me.

EOB and WBF

The Landmark is in the airport next to the the Airtran gates. You have to walk by it when you fly Delta or Airtran. The Anchor Bar has a place in the airport now.

Maybe Peverly took a little less money this time around to free up some $$ for Kovy and the other potential free agents

Kracker I have even more faith in him now after seeing him keep up his pace on the 3rd (what should be the 2nd) line. I thought for sure if they moved him away from Kovalchuk he would drop off, but he hasn't.

Looks like Pevs went for the bird-in-the-hand. Compared to minor league pay scales, he will earn very good money this season and better money for the following two years. If he puts up .5 to .7 points per game, he's a steal for the Thrashers and will probably earn a nice raise in a couple of years. If he approaches a point/game in JA's systems, that's even more fantastic!

But if his production declines for the remainder of this season, or if he gets seriously injured, he already has his money coming in. I think most of us are hoping/expecting Rich to be the good player he has been since he came to the Thrashers.

Kracker - thanks, I was worried we were all going to have to switch full time to classical Latin or Victorian English to post on this blog.

Rob Preiditsch - Ha, what's happening? I'm the guy who bet you 10 years ago that the Sabres would beat Sundin & the Leafs in the Eastern Conference finals to go to the Cup finals. Still going back to Ontario? I still remember where we were 10 years ago...

WBF - I think the Landmark is near the airport where you can stop on your way out of town. Not Charlie the Butcher.

Happy to sees Peverley locked up but as others noted, interesting that a 27 year old guy who has been about a pt/g player since he first suited up for us only gets a 2 year deal. Is this the way that the Spirit will allow Waddell to work or is this the Bettman strategy as someone mentioned? Either way, we got him.

d - it is an extension, so it starts next fall or technically July 1, 2010. We just have the advantage of being able to negotiate that 2010 contract (when free agency begins) before anyone else since he is our player. If it is only a 1 year deal you can't negotiate another contract until Jan 1.

C-Viv - just want to say thanks for all the Thrasher coverage in the paper, on the blog, via Tweets, etc. A marked improvement after last year's huge fall off in coverage post-Custance. You're doin' great. Keep it up!
