Mid - yeah your right. We all know what happens when you assume. Especially about Waddell. With all the new players coming in and with 5 goalies in camp call it temporary insanity that I thought he actually had good intentions.

I sure hope DW has Manny's agent on speed dial.It should not take long before the world realizes that Opie needs another year in AHL.Whether or not Dw figures it out,God only knows.

Stephen, that would be assuming that Legace was actually in a real competition with Opie,Legace was brought in as insurance only.If there had actually been a real battle for the #1 goalie, that would have been a direct slap in DW's face that he would have to admit that one of HIS prized draft picks was not as good as Legace.I would have signed him to a 1yr contract, released the Moose (sadly)and shipped Opie back to Chicago once KL was healthy. PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Yeah, I saw he was offered a contract in Chicago but I mean what was the reason for not making the club here? All I see is 40 minutes of playing time was not enough but that is not a reason, only an excuse. My question is we start the season with Pavs and Moose, was Legace worse than these two and therefore offered only an AHL contract? I was actually excited to see Waddell bring in some competition for the goalie job however, when things are said and donw, nothing has changed from last year.

Stephen - Read #5 above. Legace didn't want to play in Chicago while waiting for an opportunity to be called up to Atlanta. He was offered a contract and declined. Not a smart move if you ask me, but DW said in the press conference yesterday that the communication lines are still open between both camps should he change his mind. While I don't have a lot of confidence in Pavs in goal, he's certainly put in a lot more time with the organization than Legace (obviously) and that's likely why he gets the start and why Legace did not get a one-way contract offer; a loyalty thing, I'm guessing. That being said, if Pavs funks up the joint bad enough, DW may be calling Legace's agent back in a couple of weeks with a contract revision.

Will any reporter please ask Waddell (or Anderson) why Legace didn't make it. Was it performance or $$ related? You're telling me he was worse than Pavs and Hedberg?

9 games of third line play will at least give Kane a glimpse into what it'll take for him to play at the NHL level. It's always possible for Atlanta to send him to juniors.

If he plays 10 games on the third line I'll consider it truly impeding his development as a top line scorer.

Why not just send Kane back to juniors? Why keep him here & stunt his development by putting him on the third line? And why isn't Peverley with Kovalchuk? That combination thrived last year.
