I would like to see what Espo can do in Chicago. He needs to make the jump one level at a time. Let's hope he plays well in CHI.

Afinogenov played for Ruff for almost 10 season. Lindy leaned on Max for a long time, playing him in a number of key situations. Max went into Ruff's dog house, because he man the same misatakes over and over. Yu can't blame the coach for the player not learning from his mistakes. I bet Randy Cunneyworth has a few points on how to get the most out of Max.

It was simply time for Max and the Sabres for part.

Jameson- White was the pivot man for Kozzie and Little to start the season, both benefitted from it.

Little had his breakout season,Kozzie returned to form. I disagree that White is the weakest link in the top-6. After Kovy,i'd be willing to say he's in the top 3 still. His all-around game(back checking and playing defense) does put him ahead of others as you pointed out. White showed he can be Kovy's setup man.... which many have tried but couldn't do.

I don't understand why so many knock on White? Just because he doesn't play a very physical game? But he does go to the front of the net,he does score,he does make some pretty awesome setup passes and he does play defense as well as win faceoffs.

Sure.he didnt have a great first year here..... but besides Kovy that season, who else did? I hope some of you would explain why it is you feel he can't be an every nite top-6 forward.

And Jameson as well as others, please don't take this as calling you out or trying to personally attack you.... I'm not like that at all. It's just good, friendly debate between my fellow fans is all.

Oh, and how many of you are starting to feel that Espo may never live up to expectations? I'm starting to feel he won't.

Hey Hokie, I wasn't clear enough on what I meant in that post from the other day,

I didn't mean as to which spot Max would have an effect on Pevs/White by where they'd be lined up at,but Pevs actually being on the team. I'm hoping for all 3 to be in the lineup come opening nite.

And it looks like Postma may have something to say about being on the team this year and I hope Kulda really makes it as well. With the way both of them have played,I don't think Valabik,Oystrick are safe.

Brendan- I like White myself, but if Peverley plays anything like he did for us last year, I think White is probably the weakest of the top 6 from an offensive stand point. If Pevs is playing well, I'm definitely moving White down to the 3rd line, the press box, or out of town before I do Peverley. White also isn't the only defensively responsible forward in the top 6, either, as Little, Kozlov and Peverly don't shy away from back checking in the least.

I don't think Todd White will be traded. (1) Kovalchuk likes him and has said so. Trading away a player Kovy likes might not be a good idea, at least until Kovy is re-signed. (2) Todd White had a career-best last season, and seems like a perfect fit with Kozlov and/or Little. (3) He's not really that much salary relief, at $2.3-ish million in cap hit. For example, Colby Armstrong is due $2.4 million this season, and isn't signed beyond this season. (And he may NOT choose to re-sign with Atlanta, as a UFA, next Summer.) I don't think Colby has a no trade clause, unlike Slava Kozlov, in case anyone is thinking that route. Todd White is one of the more defensively-responsible forwards on the Thrashers rosters. And when he was first signed by Atlanta, right after the 2007 playoff debacle, White spoke of his fondness for playing both sides of the puck, and excelling defensively. There is one more year after this season left on Todd White's contract. The thing to remember about Todd White is this: "He signed with Atlanta AFTER the wheels fell off, and without a double-barreled, sawed-off shotgun lodged in his short ribs." That makes him, "a good guy." And I think Waddell knows that, too. White can always bounce between the 2nd and 3rd lines for this club. I don't think Todd White is the problem in Atlanta. He's just a "depth player." And appropriately paid, too.

If Max makes the roster, I see him as a 3rd or 4th line player. But he has to EARRRRRRN it. First, the roster spot. Second, to be a Top Six forward. He is a player who has a lot to prove.

Alan that would be pointless. White isn't a 4th line kind of guy - not unless we intend to completely retool the roster and just run 4 scoring lines, in which case Don better get Zherdev back on the phone.
